Week 2 - May Low Carb Bootcamp - our first official weigh-in!

Morning all!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And don't forget the the Weight Tracker (I hope that link works but apologies if it doesn't!)

So we come to our first weigh-in. I know from last week's thread that results are going to be a bit mixed - but I hope that most of you will see a good loss.

If you haven't, don't panic! Sometimes it can take a bit of time for your body to trust you, especially if you're a bit of a serial dieter.

If you think you've been doing everything according to the rules, but still haven't seen a loss, then list out for me your meals over the last 3 or 4 days and let me see if I can spot anything obvious.

But whatever the results are today, please remember it's not a competition!

We all lose weight at different rates. And someone who sees a big loss in one week isn't going to see that every week.

And remember - it's not all about what the scales tell you. You'll find that your body shape can change even if the scales remain unchanged!

Good luck to you all.

so now that is over how do I stop that ever happening again. I m drinking tons of water and eating loads of gren veg. I have bought some milled flax seed to have with my yoghurt in the morning. Anything else I can do?

I bought some senna tablets as well as the glycerin suppository which was what caused the fainting, I dont know if I should take one tonight or not.

Tetley650 · 20/05/2015 18:38

Apologies turns into tmi post
Dita I would have that from my low fat brain washed mum - unfortunately I'm the opposite end of the scale - haven't been able to go out today as have had some lucky 'runs' to the loo. Have tried eating at lunchtime but sprint times had to come down!! This evening will try something but will make sure I finish my water to flush through and keep hydrated. Apologies again for tmi post

LexLoofah · 20/05/2015 18:50

dita sorry I don't know the answer, hopefully someone else on here can help

B - 3 x streaky bacon, 2 x scr eggs w cheddar, cuppa, creamy coffee
L - tinned salmon, hm mayo, chopped salad - was a bit watery at the bottom of my lunchbox, when is someone going to invent a tupperware type thingy with a grid at the bottom to allow liquid to drain into a sort of lower reservoir? If it does not already exist I hereby patent the idea!
D - will be lovely hm beef and pork ragu from the freezer with courgetti in butter

Also, one cup of chai with cream, hoping that will be it for the day and no 4pm slump induced snacking although DD came in with us in the night so pretty tired already and it is not even 1pm yet

Romeyroo · 20/05/2015 19:02

Dita, are you sure the fainting was related to the suppository or WOE? it sounds scary. I would have thought stabilising your blood sugar which this WOE does would mean less likely to faint. I don't know how suppositories work though; clearly a gap in my poo knowledge I need to look up

Thanks, Lex, I don't know why it all upset me so much today. I am at home a few days now and dinner is in the oven, so time to regroup a bit

ditavonteesed · 20/05/2015 19:02

oh tetley thats not a lot of fun either, somewhere in the middle would be just peachy wouldnt it. Hope your feeling better now.

I did tell dh and he was very sympathetic.

I have to say chai with cream sounds a bit odd. Mind you I was sceptical about bullet proof coffee and its lovely. I think we are just prgrammed to make food associations.

ditavonteesed · 20/05/2015 19:03

the fainting was a direct result of the pain caused by the suppository doing its job Blush

Romeyroo · 20/05/2015 19:06

According to the NhS website, biscodryl suppositories can cause fainting as a side effect; was that the active ingredient in the one you used?

I would read the info list in the senokot and see what side effects are listed?

Romeyroo · 20/05/2015 19:08

Oh I see; if the suppository did its job, then you don't need the Senna?

If I am misunderstanding, see what the info leaflet says.

ditavonteesed · 20/05/2015 19:12

I think your right with the senna, I just had some yoghurt with flax seed, its actually quite nice changes the texture of the yoghurt but doesnt taste of anything.

saranghae · 20/05/2015 19:13

Wow, the thread has moved on a lot! Those alternative drinks sound yummy, getting so tired to drinking mint tea and green tea..
Thank you for the link - trashcanjunkie! Definitely going to place an order Smile

Yesterday:
B- Mushroom Omelette fried in butter.
L = Leftover broccoli Soup with grated cheese
D - Salmon with buttered asparagus and salad with mayo.

Today
B - FF greek yoghurt with double cream
L - 2 hardboiled eggs with spinach, mayo/mustard
D - Butter chicken curry with cauliflower rice - turned out so well for a first attempt! Such a nice change from the usual food I've been eating.

blessedenough · 20/05/2015 19:15

Just KOKO here and feeling fab. I have been making good food choices and loving the food. I did enter my food onto my MFP but cant work out how to see it as a percentage and cant be fagged to work it out myself!

Had a lush dinner of courgetti fried in garlic butter with a roasted tomato and pepper sauce to which i added cream cheese and pickled chillies - it was amazing the sharpness of the chillies really added something - the sauce was prob a little carby but as it was so spicy i only had 2 tbsps of it.

I have been poorly but ave shifted the worse of it so i am off for a run in a mo - i have a 5k thing in a frightening short space of time and can currently run for 6 mins - so i have a long way to go!!

Will catch up on the thread later

saranghae · 20/05/2015 19:18

dita - have you tried asparagus? I had some for dinner yesterday to try as a laxative, and this morning after breakfast, I was finally able to have some relief... It's a natural diuretic so should be less painful than the suppositry.

ditavonteesed · 20/05/2015 19:25

asparagus I can do, will get some for lunch and tea tommorow. yum. blessed enough when is your 5k? good luck and enjoy your run.

Patapouf · 20/05/2015 19:50

lex still no joy! I have the spreadsheet open in a tab on safari and then when I go out and into the sheets app nothing appears. Am I doing it wrong?

romey suppositories work by drawing water into your bowel IIRC, so can make you dizzy etc in the same why dehydration would. They can work very quickly and be a little over effective & therefore v. Painful.

I'm snacking on grated cheddar whilst I wait for cheesy cauliflower garlic bread thingy to cook. V. Hungry after DH ate my lunch leaving me with f all to eat all day.

B: FF total & a whisper of flax seed
L: 2 mini hen eggs boiled with mayo. Sliver of leftover frittata as DH had wolfed the rest.
D: Cauli breadstick thingies with chili oil for dipping.

I've got some nice fruit tea cooling so I can have a nice refreshing fruity drink. I've not had nearly enough water today yet.

LexLoofah · 20/05/2015 20:45

pata what device are you using and which OS version is it on? I'll have a look later

Gcalgske · 20/05/2015 20:55

Try going into more (bottom right corner), then nutrition on the next page, then macros (kind of slider headings)

Ahhhhh stupid iPhone re ordered the screenshots Angry

Romeyroo · 20/05/2015 21:03

pata, thanks, that explains things! Okay, then I don't think you would have the same effect with Senna. I am having a cup of special Brew to get things moving here; will be off for some asparagus tomorrow too!

Made DC quiche tonight and managed to not eat any of it, which I was pleased with. I am very tired and sat waiting for DD to get home from netball so I can go to bed.

Romeyroo · 20/05/2015 21:05

Meals

B Coyo
L cucumber sticks, chicken, mayonnaise and cheese
D roast broccoli, spinach and burger

Need to go shopping so a bit make do!

Patapouf · 20/05/2015 21:48

iPad mini 2, with the latest os lex

Coyo arrived today, so I'm looking forward to having that for breakfast tomorrow! It better be good considering two large pots came to £10!!

lisbapalea · 20/05/2015 22:28

My Chinese pork I'm lettuce things was pretty successful tonight. Great from a low carb pov and has kept me totally full, but wasn't quite as good as the version at my favourite restaurant!

Means I have had a great day food wise though, no slip ups and very full. I have hopefully made up for yesterday's blunders!

blessedenough · 20/05/2015 22:34

Thanks Gcal not using the app, might download that and try that instead. Did discover that when i fast i was eating twice as many cals as i thought!

Dita - 5k is end of july - race for life muddy obstacle course, i had a great run, i am def keto adapted i felt like i had limitless energy. My lungs gave upon me before my legs did. I feel amazing now but will ache tom, still cant run anywhere near 5k though!!

Hangonaminutewillyou · 20/05/2015 22:48

Does anyone have a spiralizer that they would recommend? I looked on amazon & got a bit bamboozled...I want to spend as little ££ as poss but don't want it to be crap! I'm desperate to try some courgetti! Also, where do you get the vanilla powder I saw mentioned earlier on? Oh & would anyone recommend any scales? Mine are rubbish & I was thinking maybe scales that also measure body fat % might be good. Thanks!

B: 2 eggs fried in butter & 2 oven roasted sausages

L: creamed leeks (couldn't resist having them again today!) with garlic mushrooms (made with butter & garlic salt)
D: tuna mayo (whole tin) with cucumber slices, then FF Greek yog & double cream

Snacks: 1 cold sausage, few slices of chorizo & chunks of cheese & marinated olives

I found things hard today. I just felt grim & fat this morning, clothes I tried on all felt too tight & I was worried incase my scales had been lying to me (they don't seem too reliable!) After losing 5lbs in the first week not much seems to be happening now Hmm maybe that's normal for week 2 to slow down? Anyway, trying not to be disheartened and will KOKO. Got a wedding to go to on Sunday so need to do my best so as not to feel like a sausage in a dress...

mummyto3under4 · 20/05/2015 22:51
