Welcome everyone!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness that the lovely Sayra creates and cares for. Come and confess all.

If you prefer, you can use the individual Weight Tracker, provided by MNHQ, which will open (I hope) tomorrow morning.

Please make sure that you know the rules, and that you know about the allowed veg - look at the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - and think about printing them off so that you have them to hand

If you have any questions, obviously you can ask them here, but there's also a specific questions thread because the chat threads can move so quickly that questions can get missed.

Unfortunately I'm working pretty full on for the next three days, so won't be around very much - I'll try and check in as much as I can, but in reality I'm not going to be around very much until Thursday - apologies in advance.

Very good luck to you all

Right well I'm back from my dinner party. The starter was a disaster from a low carb perspective so picked my way through it politely and ate about half.

The main was fine. It was a thai dish that I suspect had quite a bit of sugar in the sauce but I didn't eat much of it anyway and I avoided the rice.

I avoided the chocolate mousse but did have some plain berries instead.

Drank two large glasses of red wine and plenty of water. I doubt I am still in ketosis so I will have to be really strict again today to get back on track.

ApplySomePressure · 15/05/2015 05:29

Sass- brilliant thank you! Cannot wait to try them.

This is probably a silly question but how do you know if you're in ketosis? Do you feel different?

ceres · 15/05/2015 06:00

Crabby - thanks for replying yesterday. I think you are right, just my body adjusting to the shock of not having carbs! I think i'm getting there though, thankfully didn't have a panic attack last night.

going shopping later today to stock up, planning on batch cooking and freezing some low carb meals - lack of organisation is often my downfall when it comes to diet.

lavenderhoney · 15/05/2015 06:49

Morning:) I wrote and told my host for the weekend no carbs or fruit:) they were very nice, apart from saying they would have to change the whole menu!

b - coffee creme
L- saucisson pieces as going running
D- pork with red onion, cauliflower and DC roasties and Yorkshire pud.

I didn't drink enough water yesterday either. However, after months and months of no period it started yesterday. My first though was " what is that?"
Explains the bad temper though. No carb cravings, no wine cravings, just v tired and look and feel bloated.

BIWI · 15/05/2015 07:10

Can I just point out, you don't have to be in ketosis to lose weight.

(If you're in ketosis, one of the key signs is bad breath or a funny taste in your mouth. It doesn't last long!)

restaurant was lovely last night and I sampled meats from around the world, tried to avoid sauces, lots of salad no pudding and drinking water. Acy=tually I really enjoyed it, turns out one of my friends is also ,long term lcing so nobody even batted an eye lid. If I can do my birthday without cheating then I must be in for the course.

MeerkatManners · 15/05/2015 07:38

I have lost 6lb since Monday all water I am sure. Managing fine with meals so far. Bought some sparkling water to sip in the evenings instead of wine but DH and DC have already polished most of it off.

StuntNun · 15/05/2015 07:41

Lavender when you start to lose weight there is often a surge of oestrogen which is stored in fat cells. Your body will reduce its release of oestrogen to compensate. A lot of women report changes to their menstruation when they start to eat low carb.

SayraT · 15/05/2015 08:16

I'm just copying this over from the questions thread as many people on this BC seem to be talking about being in ketosis when it isn't essential for weight-loss as BIWI has already mentioned. I think aiming to be in ketosis make this WOE a bit harder as you need to keep your carbs so low.

RE: ketosis

It is not necessary to be in ketosis to lose weight, I think most people need to be eating very LC to be in ketosis (

trinitybleu · 15/05/2015 08:40

Yesterday was a bit of a funny one - forgot my lunch bag and had a full day of interviews so had to forage in WHSmith's and then a colleague went to Morrisons salad bar for me and did her best!

B - eat natural bar thingy (13g), best I could do
L - egg and cheese salad (lettuce, cucumber, coleslaw, green peppers - skipped the falafel she'd put in!)
D - cheese, olives, pate, hummus (6g worth), cucumber, celery, sundried tomatoes in oil (2)

Proud that I didn't just give up at the lack of packed lunch, as I previously would have done

plumstone · 15/05/2015 09:01

Morning All,

Please can someone let me know the damage that soya milk can do? I am currently chugging my way through a de-caff soya latte and had a thought that this may not be the best thing to be starting my way.

B - 2 x babble cheese
L - Smoked Salmon salad and cream cheese
D - Venison burgers on lettuce boats with a homemade tomato and red onion salad
3l of water will be drunk

Fatstacks · 15/05/2015 09:07

There are variations in soya milk Plum is it a branded one?

I love milk so I get my fix from unsweetened almond milk.

Fatstacks · 15/05/2015 09:23

Large starbucks soy latte has 12g
Add sugar free syrup shot 32g
Costa soy latte is small 6g
Take out small 7g
Large 12g
Take out large 13g

Hopefully you didn't go for the shot and can recover Grin

plumstone · 15/05/2015 09:33

Thanks Fatstacks - think I will stop with the grande soya latte - its the only "milky" coffee I ever drink and its only on a Friday morning, however trying to move away from "food for treats" so will aim to give up!! The goal is three meals a day for nourishment and staying alive - not because I have had a bad day or spent two hours getting home in the pissing rain so can justify eating comfort food - I need a hot shower not rubbish!! Grin

Its alpro soya from Starucks - so very branded!

cathyandclaire · 15/05/2015 09:49

32g for a sugar free shot, that is an absolute shocker Shock

Waiting on a big ol supermarket shop here this afternoon.
B: Bacon, mushrooms and egg
L: fridge trawling but it's slim pickings
S: Big meaty burgers with guacamole, sour cream and salad.

Off to try a hot yoga class today, mainlining water in anticipation.

sassandfaff · 15/05/2015 09:54

Morning. Oh sayra what a pita. I hope it was an accident and not done maliciously.

I've not checked my weight as I can't change it anyway, so if someone else is going on to do there's could you please put mine as 188? Thank you.

Well, i be just had a breakfast fit for a king! Dp is off today and while I did the school and nursery run (they are finally free of conjunctivitis, but dp and I have it.) he cooked; bacon, eggs, mushrooms, chilli tomatoes, and grilled avocado with salsa and Parmesan cheese topping.

Full up now!

I'm off shopping. Going to treat myself to some new pumps and some bb cream. Never used it before, but heard good things.

Have a nice day everyone.

sassandfaff · 15/05/2015 09:56

I should say fit for a queen.

Damn patriarchal indoctrination..........

readyforno2 · 15/05/2015 10:00

Here it is
B ff yog with cream
L wasn't that hungry, cheese coleslaw with baby gem lettuce
D shallot, mushroom and cheese omelette. Ff yog with cream

6 pints water, 2 coffee with cream and 1 decaf tea with cream

Today
B mushrooms, 1 rasher bacon and some halloumi fried in butter
L baby gem lettuce with egg or tuna mayo

saranghae · 15/05/2015 10:01

Good Morning all.

2 eggs in olive oil, bpc with splash cream.

lisbapalea · 15/05/2015 10:46

Hi all,

Am back after a couple of days of birthday related carby twattery! I did try my best on my birthday but menu choices that I thought would be good, turned out to not be so, and I couldn't really work around it. Dh also made me a birthday cake! He's never baked before and it was clearly a massive effort, and really touched me, so I couldn't not eat it! Having said that, I was still very low carb compared with 'normal' eating so it wasn't that bad.

Yesterday I was positively saintly:

B - coconut yog mixed with ff Greek yog and some extra deasicated coconut
L - two sticks of cheese, two boiled eggs, some spinach
D - courgetti Bolognese - absolutely delicious

BUT after all that goodness, I succumbed to dh's persuasion to have the last (small) piece of the birthday cake. Sorry.

Today will be exemplary, I promise!

B - coconut yog, ff Greek yog, splash of dble cream. Coffee with splash of ff milk.
L - have just made some ricotta, egg, garlic and spinach muffins from the IPD recipe book. They're in the oven and smell great so will have one of them plus some salad with dressing
D - salmon, asparagus, prob more spinach and some home made mayo turned into a kind of hollandaise / tartare sauce with the addition of lemon juice and capers.

KOKO everyone!!

Patapouf · 15/05/2015 11:04

Starbucks skinny vanilla syrup has 0g of carbs, but it's still bad because we should be avoiding artificial sweeteners. The Starbucks professional alpro is 3ish g (it is not the unsweetened variety).

Also their caramel drinks are all made with vanilla syrup, not caramel. The caramel flavour comes from the sticky sauce- which is of course, sugar laden.

Sorelip · 15/05/2015 11:25

Something strange has happened; I can see myself being low carb for life. It's just so easy this time! Sorry if it sounds like a boast, especially to those who are struggling, but it's like my brain has finally got the message!

Patapouf · 15/05/2015 11:51

IKWYM sorelip my appetite has reduced so dramatically that I don't feel like I'm depriving myself at all. I had a little pang of sadness yesterday at the thought of holidays without ice cream but I attribute that to my association of food wth good times!
