Welcome everyone!

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness that the lovely Sayra creates and cares for. Come and confess all.

If you prefer, you can use the individual Weight Tracker, provided by MNHQ, which will open (I hope) tomorrow morning.

Please make sure that you know the rules, and that you know about the allowed veg - look at the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet - and think about printing them off so that you have them to hand

If you have any questions, obviously you can ask them here, but there's also a specific questions thread because the chat threads can move so quickly that questions can get missed.

Unfortunately I'm working pretty full on for the next three days, so won't be around very much - I'll try and check in as much as I can, but in reality I'm not going to be around very much until Thursday - apologies in advance.

Very good luck to you all

lisbapalea maybe it's a type of carby flu? I'm also smothered with a cold - runny nose, sore throat, miserable - but read somewhere that it can happen at the beginning of a low carb diet? Anyways hope that you feel better soon!

Am back on the wagon today
B: lots of bacon, mushrooms, 1 tomato and mayo followed by a cheese board
L: buttery baked salmon with lots of cauli rice and spinach
D: ff Greek yogurt and more cheese - wasn't hungry but think its because I've eaten a lot today already
Nearly 3l of water

yongnian · 17/05/2015 20:49

Thanks Biwi (from 3 pages ago!).
Yep, better planning would def help not to mention some fecking willpower
Ok, tomorrow is another day...

lisbapalea · 17/05/2015 20:50

Thanks London but I think it's a bog standard coldy bug - poor dd1 also has it but she always takes colds straight to her chest and has been coughing so much over the weekend. She's just taken it to a new level and vomited from coughing so I have had to change us both (she conveniently did it while sitting on my lap!), and she will now be off school and home with me tomorrow - think we will both be wallowing on sofa under the "poorly blanket" in front of cbeebies for the day!

clare8allthepies · 17/05/2015 21:54

Hi everyone, will be weighing in tomorrow but have been well and truly off plan for the last 2 days as have had 3 days of agonising stomach cramps. Thought I was improving after getting some Buscopan from the pharmacy this morning but awful again tonight.

Planning to eat whatever I need to until I'm back to normal then gradually cut back until I'm back to full bootcamp. I'd better be alright soon, got my driving test on Wednesday, I don't think having the squits helps you pass! Grin

shebedee · 17/05/2015 22:18

Not sure what to do about weighing in tomorrow. I'm working in London with 2 full days of meetings and staying in a hotel so won't be back to my scales until Wednesday.
I'm still coping well with BC and the meeting venue offers great low carb choices for lunch thankfully. I just have to avoid the biscuits.
Today
B- 2 low carb sausages- fried mushrooms -4 cherry tomatoes- 2 fried eggs
L- smoked salmon and cream cheese on cheese with butter?? wtf
D- grilled salmon - green beans -mushrooms and bearnaise sauce (not sure how carby that is but it was only a dollop) and a small green salad with mayo

ewanhoozami · 17/05/2015 22:34

Poor you clare. What food do you usually find soothing when you have a flare-up (assuming IBS)?

And good luck for Weds - fellow learner here. Hope you are neither literally or metaphorically shitting yourself

lisbapalea · 17/05/2015 22:39

Lots of mentions of stomach cramps on here recently and I have been really struck down with them today. Is this linked to the low carb thing? Clare are they a regular thing for you or just since following boot camp?

I have been lc-ing for 4 or 5 weeks now and not had stomach cramps before but have had them all afternoon today. They're kind of waist level on either side of me, not period pains although that is due. Not poo related either - no squits here!

Bit scared of weighing in tomorrow. Been really quite good this week apart from birthday related stuff, but feel that my period and the fact I am in weeks 4/5 might mean I sts. A few days ago I definitely felt great but today I feel a bit shitty and really can't believe I will have lost anything.

Tetley650 · 17/05/2015 22:46

Just had an announcement to concentrate my efforts - apparently going to learn to scuba dive! Really don't want to be the one being larded into a wet suit have 12 weeks to get some of the excess shifted! Beginning to find appetite reducing. After large lunch of chicken( including half the skin) swede, broccoli, kale and asparagus, could manage a coyo. I know they are expensive but if a meal then not so concerned because I'm sure my share of a bottle of wine that would have gone with a roast in my before regime would have cost more. Good luck in the morning - has anybody sorted out a way for iPads to edit the spreadsheet?

clare8allthepies · 17/05/2015 23:14

Not a regular thing for me, I do get a dodgy tummy if I have very little sleep or am very stressed but only as a one off, never for 3 full days like this!

The first day I kept it low carb so nibbling on olives or nuts and sipping on stock but no improvement so for the last 2 days I've been having small amounts of wholemeal toast, banana and plain boiled rice and although not back to normal am definitely somewhat better.

Hopefully it's just a small blip and I'll be back on the low carb wagon again soon!

HemanOrSheRa · 17/05/2015 23:33

I sympathise clare and lisba and anyone else sufferingSad. I had a bowl of chicken broth earlier and felt dreadful. I've just had to have a piece of dry toast to settle my tum so I can get some sleep. Gah! It seems to have worked though. Everything has gone quiet Confused.

Good luck for your driving test on Wednesday!

DramaAlpaca · 18/05/2015 00:32

I'm not expecting great things for the weigh in tomorrow. I've been doing OK, but I'm frustrated that it's slow. I do think I've had a bit of a light bulb moment this week in that I've realised that if I add enough fat to my meals I don't need to eat so much to be full. In the early weeks I think I was still eating too much - low carb, but too much of it. I'm getting the hang of it better now. Reading on here what other people are eating for their different meals has helped a lot.

Hope everyone with colds, dodgy tums & all is feeling better soon Flowers

LexLoofah · 18/05/2015 02:18

Hello all, great day here food and otherwise

B - smoked salmon, 2 poached eggs, hollandaise (old school style), cuppa, coffee w cream
L - out at a beach bar, did OK with Cesar salad and grilled mahi mahi, cuppa
D - roast pork, crackling, cauli mashed with butter, kale with butter

Hope everyone gets better overnight and has good news from the scales tomorrow Flowers

Romeyroo · 18/05/2015 05:16

drama, I find the eat more fat thing hard to conceptually get my head round, but I have noticed that it works, both in terms of being fuller but also downward movement on the scales (I can't get my head round this bit, but I think that is years of low fat = lose weight conditioning). My lunch was so filling yesterday I ended up just nibbling on a bit of ham last night, partly because I fell asleep at half eight. It did have cream in it, though, which was not good for my eczema but that has passed. Not advocating missing meals for those who are getting keto-adapted, btw, but just illustrating the fat fills you up point!

I am not a new BCer, and have STS which is my aim - but good luck to those who are weighing in today; and also, hope everyone feels better who was suffering with stomach issues Flowers.

millionsmom · 18/05/2015 05:46

Weighed myself
Only a little less than last week. Sad
The only thing I think I've done wrong is not eat enough vegetables. I feel so full most of the time, I don't fancy finishing the veg.
At least it's a downward trend.

Romeyroo - I'm the same! Surely low fat = weight loss?? My poor DH is well confused. But after the first weigh in, it shows it does.

millionsmom · 18/05/2015 05:46

Full fat = weight loss

justonemorethread · 18/05/2015 05:55

Thank you biwi you are a great motivator! However I checked the spread sheet and couldn't see my name?
drama I agree with watching what other people on here eat helps, the first week I tried low carbing I realised I was still eating too much, probably because of not adding fat.
I have an amazing capacity for eating large quantities even if I'm not hungry, so I think I need to check my portion sizes.

Romeyroo · 18/05/2015 06:01

milionsmom, it absolutely does work and sticking with it, the weight stays off. I am so glad I found this WOE because I realised just how much carbs do not agree with me.

Dumdedumdedum · 18/05/2015 06:41

Justonethread - I'm just like you in eating constantly whether or not I'm actually hungry. Not a good look Sad
After my first week seriously back on this way of eating, have GAINED (0.25lbs, but still, whichever way I stand on the scales, it's definitely more than when I started last Monday)! So much for my huge efforts not to eat bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, etc, chocolate, fruit, desserts, or drink any alcohol. It is soooo demoralising after my first fortnight’s attempt was so successful! I feel as if I've been overdoing the fat, as I have butter and cream with everything and I think I have been snacking (albeit on low carb food) much too much, and probably not eating enough green vegetables and possibly too much cream cheese. Pah! Grrr!

Romeyroo · 18/05/2015 07:04

Try cutting back on the dairy, Dumde, and drinking water or herbal tea instead of reaching for snacks. Check yourself and ask am I actually hungry? If unsure, go off and do something else and see if the feeling persists

BIWI · 18/05/2015 07:06

Dum - 0.25lbs is nothing. Don't worry about it. A good week will see that disappear Grin

millionsmom - you really, really, really need to do some reading about low carb if you're not convinced! The science behind it is worth understanding. Have a look at all the resources on the spreadsheet (look at the tabs at the bottom).

But also, list out for me what you've been eating so that I can see if there's anything obvious that might help.
