Week 9 - Low Carb Bootcamp - The End is Nigh!

BIWI · 10/03/2014 07:41

Morning all!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And don't forget the Weight Tracker

As we get to the end of this Bootcamp, I'd like you all to think about how MNHQ can make our space even better for the next time around.

The original plan was to move to the Weight Tracker and drop the Spreadsheet, which would mean Willie wouldn't have to tend it all the time - but we seem to have kept it going for this Bootcamp. If we were to lose it next time, what do you think you would miss the most?

For me, I think definitely the information in the tabs needs to be transferred over somehow - but is there anything else you'd like to see?

Anyway, a busy week for me as I'm off to Lille Tuesday/Wednesday, up at 5.00 am tomorrow and not getting back home till around 10.00 pm on Wednesday. All I will see will the inside of a taxi, a French supermarket, an office block and another taxi - no time even to go out for dinner on Tuesday night!

And I have no idea what's going to happen on the food front as it's all out of my control But then, that's what this WOE is all about - making the best choices we can at the time.

So - good luck to you all, hope that the fine weather helps you have a great week Flowers

I have downloaded an app called True Weight which has you weigh daily then averages your weights over time so you can see the trend. Hopefully that will help keep me on the straight and narrow because my weight seems to be fluctuating an awful lot through the week.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/03/2014 06:57

Morning :)

That app sounds good Stunt.

Thumbwitch · 14/03/2014 07:05

Great news re. scales, Sayra!

BIWI - I think you'll be ok in Amsterdam, I'm pretty sure they mostly speak English very well. :)

Eva - you're lucky to have got that free, some pubs charge you just for washing up the glass!

I have done cottage pie topped with swede mash before now and it's been very nice. Not tried swede dauphinoise, might give that a go next time. :)

Been quite good today so far - cheese slice for breakfast, lunch was leftover salmon with coriander and parmesan crust, and a honey & rosemary lamb sausage (leftover from last night).
Dinner will be mince thing, with swede something-or-other depending on how much time I have.

EverythingIsAwesome · 14/03/2014 07:43

5 days in and I have lost 7lb exactly :) Feeling chuffed. Have got a sociology exam this morning, so having a very tasty breakfast of crispy fried halloumi & ham slices. Yum.

PseudoBadger · 14/03/2014 08:04

Hi everyone,

Been a strange few days, I've been worried about DP for a day or 2 and finally took him to A&E with pneumonia this morning. No idea how he is as had to dump and run to get back to DCs :(

So my eating has been all over the place. Last night I had a lovely chicken kebab with a small amount of flat bread. And I had a chocolate biscuit...

Suzymoo9 · 14/03/2014 08:28

Stuntnun If it's any consolation I stalled for 5 weeks then put 2 pounds on, since then I am now losing slowly and steadily each week. It's not a linear loss but in the long term I have lost more than gained. I feel I need to do this for a longer time and then I might see a pattern to the loss. I weigh on a Friday then a Monday - that's enough for me.

Thumbwitch · 14/03/2014 09:11

That's brilliant Everything!

Pseudo - sorry to hear about your DP, hope they fix him up soon.

I was doing so well today (see previous) and did a lovely mince thing with leeks and carrots and mushrooms and beans, and 1.5 rounds of Boursin; and then ruined it all by having a couple of glasses of red wine (spritzed with mineral water but still). My only excuse is it's Friday and has been a birrova tough day, but not nearly as bad as others' days. Blush

EverythingIsAwesome · 14/03/2014 11:35

Pseudo, hope your DH is ok :(

HeirToTheIronThrone · 14/03/2014 12:32

Get well wishes for your DH Pseudo

I have just eaten half a block of feta with salad for my lunch and now feel sick. I have finally, after MUCH experimenting, discovered what is TOO MUCH CHEESE :)

Too much dairy today probably - greek yog, babybel snack and aforementioned feta. Dinner will be a beef curry with lots of spinach as I was told yesterday I am anaemic which was a shock!

NeverEndingLaundry · 14/03/2014 14:11

Hello I barged in here the other day and liked it a lot! You guys are great. Pseudo hope DH is back on top form asap.

I'm only just beginning low carb (since Monday) and I've had the worst carb-flu which has lasted all bloody week. Luckily I knew what it was and thank God I'm feeling better.

I have probably eaten my own considerable body weight in animal fat, plus quite a lot of protein but I've also maxed out on green stuff.

Gazzilions of calories, but I thought 'I'm just going to do what I have to do to get through the first few days' and unbelievably I'm down from 13 stone to 12.10. I'm 5ft 7, medium-boned and I'd like to be anywhere under 11 stone.

NeverEndingLaundry · 14/03/2014 14:13

Heir in peer review mode, I might have to quibble with your results in the TOO MUCH CHEESE tests. I could eat half a block of feta no probs!

FelixFelix · 14/03/2014 15:01

Hope your DH gets better soon Pseudo.

Day 3 for me. I'm finding it surprisingly easy Shock but I'm expecting this weekend to be hard. My parents are visiting on Sunday so we are going out somewhere so DP can get on with some uni work which is due in. I assume we will be going out for something to eat so that will be a real test!

Breakfast - yoghurt with berries, coffee with almond milk
Dinner - avocado and cheese salad
Tea - Baked salmon with fried cabbage/bacon concoction. Using up stuff which is going out of date soon!

StuntNun · 14/03/2014 16:55

Panic time, is there anything low carb I can order at a Chinese restaurant?

thenightsky · 14/03/2014 17:06

Chinese food is a low carber's nightmare in my experience. If its a buffet i just shovelling down crispy duck and seaweed (without the pancakes obv)

EverythingIsAwesome · 14/03/2014 17:07

I sometimes have dry ribs, or a portion of meat & veg and leave as much as the sauce as I can. Beef & mushrooms is nice!

FelixFelix · 14/03/2014 17:27

Egg foo young? Never had it but I'm sure it's just an omelette with veg/soy sauce.

LittleMissDisorganized · 14/03/2014 18:15

Evening all. Really emotional day today, and mindfully had some chips at lunchtime. Quite overwhelmingly my blog was featured as the MN blog of the day so I guess any attempt to keep my past seperate was doomed to failure. I know several of you blog on various subjects here - I need to try and read about how you handle your readership increasing.

Anyway, straight back on with the plan, I have a chicken in the oven, and as I'm off to a conference tomorrow I am making breakfast and lunch to take as it'll otherwise be a carb-fest. Sorry not to namecheck, am so tired. Just needed to come on and tell it how it is, I guess.

Oh, in case anyone is interested, blog is here

LittleMissDisorganized · 14/03/2014 18:16

Or actually it's on the right on the page - or it is today - if you scroll down to blog of the day. Gulp.

DurhamDurham · 14/03/2014 18:43

Just had a delicious dinner of pork medallions with mushrooms and swede wedges cooked in the oven with mustard, salt and pepper and a dash of oil.

May treat myself to some blueberries later on, I dread to think how many £'s I have spent on blueberries over the last few months. Best not to think about it.....Grin

NeverEndingLaundry · 14/03/2014 18:47

littleMiss

MrsHerculePoirot · 14/03/2014 19:29

littlemiss some more hugs here. You write beautifully with such emotion.

Notsoskinnyminny · 14/03/2014 19:29

Evening losers. Just caught up with 2 days worth of posts as we went out last night for SD's birthday as unpleasant as ever but I smile nicely through gritted teeth. I thought I was being good ordering a salmon salad but fishcakes arrived so I slid one onto DHs plate and nicked half of his chicken cutting off the sticky chilli bits and giving them back to him

Good mummy award - just got back from picking DD up from uni, she was getting the train but someone committed suicide and all the trains were delayed/cancelled and she'd been waiting for nearly 2 hours motorways on a Friday night are not fun.

Pseudo hope DH is soon on the mend

BIWI I bet you were glad to see your own bed last night

LMD be kind to yourself and try not to worry

QueenQueenie · 14/03/2014 19:34

Have just read some of your blog LMD and wanted to say that it is very powerful, honest, moving writing. I'm sorry that you have had the experiences that you write about but applaud the way you have turned those experiences into something so affecting.

EverythingIsAwesome · 14/03/2014 19:35

LittleMiss, I am crying reading your blog, sending some hugs your way. How raw your writing is. Please be kind to yourself.

EverythingIsAwesome · 14/03/2014 19:48

Had lovely fried lamb chops for dinner, with crispy fat and a lovely mint sauce that I found in Morrisons thats only 0,2g carbs.
