Week 9 - Low Carb Bootcamp - The End is Nigh!

BIWI · 10/03/2014 07:41

Morning all!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And don't forget the Weight Tracker

As we get to the end of this Bootcamp, I'd like you all to think about how MNHQ can make our space even better for the next time around.

The original plan was to move to the Weight Tracker and drop the Spreadsheet, which would mean Willie wouldn't have to tend it all the time - but we seem to have kept it going for this Bootcamp. If we were to lose it next time, what do you think you would miss the most?

For me, I think definitely the information in the tabs needs to be transferred over somehow - but is there anything else you'd like to see?

Anyway, a busy week for me as I'm off to Lille Tuesday/Wednesday, up at 5.00 am tomorrow and not getting back home till around 10.00 pm on Wednesday. All I will see will the inside of a taxi, a French supermarket, an office block and another taxi - no time even to go out for dinner on Tuesday night!

And I have no idea what's going to happen on the food front as it's all out of my control But then, that's what this WOE is all about - making the best choices we can at the time.

So - good luck to you all, hope that the fine weather helps you have a great week Flowers

Argh mayday!

Been good (ish) today.

Had lunch out, and chose chicken ceaser salad and a glass of prosecco. For tea have had a flakseed pizza (flaxseed, cheese, eggs, passata).

Then my neighbour lured me over to hers and Ive had another glass of wine.

Now Im desperate for chocolate and nibbles with DH whilst we watch a film later Sad

Why cant I lose my sweet tooth like you lot? Im shit at this.

FelixFelix · 14/03/2014 20:34

Littlemiss, your blog posts are beautifully written. You're a very strong woman Thanks

CrabbySpringyBottom · 14/03/2014 21:46

Pseudo Flowers and wishes for a speedy recovery for your DP.

LMiss you know what I think of your blog... it is honest, brave and moving. I think that you are very strong to have come through such an incredibly traumatic situation and found the strength to carry on and move forward from that. Flowers

CrabbySpringyBottom · 14/03/2014 21:50

I just read your latest post LMiss and I have tears running down my face.

StuntNun · 14/03/2014 21:55

Just SMS as I have to get to bed quick while LO is asleep but partial success at the Chinese restaurant: prawns in garlic butter was a bit carby as the prawns were battered but main of Cantonese duck came in a thin sauce so probably not too bad in the grand scheme of things. I did eat a bit of rice and bloated right up so there must be something to this resistant starch idea.

SayraT · 14/03/2014 22:46

LMD I agree with what everyone before me has said but I am not as good with words as they are. You are very brave and strong and I don't know what else to say. I hope you are feeling ok and not too overwhelmed. Sensible to take stuff for conference they are always carb, carb, carb with a bit of extra carb thrown in Smile

Good start everything well done, hope exam went ok

Pseudo hope DH is alright. Don't worry about one chocolate biscuit, just try not to let it turn into one packet or maybe thats just me

Monkey how do you make the flaxseed pizza? I've tried the cauli pizza and it was quite successful but I think you've mentioned the flax one before?

Today

B: Coffee with cream
L: Smoked salmon with salad
D: Omelette with chicken and mozzarella cheese
P: Berries with cream Smile Yum!

Not got any plans for tomorrow which will be nice, OH not here either (although I do miss him as we work far apart so only see each other at the weekends anyway) so I can do whatever I like.

EvaTheOptimist · 15/03/2014 00:00

OH LittleMiss What you've been through and what you are still going through! I am crying too.

Thumbwitch · 15/03/2014 07:02

(((LMD))) - amazing writing but oh so sad. I hope that things improve for you soon. Keep on keeping on couldn't be more appropriate for you, but oh it must be hard sometimes. xxx

monkeyfacegrace · 15/03/2014 07:35

sayraT
Flaxseed pizza.

100g ground flaxseed
2 eggs
Handful grated cheese
Salt and pepper.

Mix all together, leave to stand for 5 mins.
Spread on a well oiled baking tray, or parchment paper.
Bake at 200 for 15 mins.
Top with passata, cheese, meat, slinach etc.
Bake again for another 10 mins.
Leave to cool so it hardens slightly.

Pleaseandthankyou · 15/03/2014 08:55

LittleMiss just read a little of your blog. Thinking of you x

BIWI · 15/03/2014 09:22

I've read your blog before, LittleMiss, but didn't want to reference it on here, as I wasn't sure if you wanted people to make the connection.

You are a remarkable woman Flowers

Down another 1.6 lbs today, so sitting at 8.6 lbs lost now. I hoe it stays that way for my official Week 1 weigh in tomorrow!

Making tuna/cheese burgers for lunch, but need inspiration for dinner tonight?

DurhamDurham · 15/03/2014 10:01

Invited to sister's house for dinner tonight, the whole family are going. She knows that I am low carbing but has to consider everyone else too. Hoping the carby bits will be easy to avoid, I'm the designated driver so at least I will keep a clear head throughout and make wise choices.
Hopefully my sister isn't trying to sabotage me and will not dish up a high carb fest just to see me squirm GrinGrin

EverythingIsAwesome · 15/03/2014 11:49

Have decided on garlic butter prawns and courgetti alfredo for dinner tonight :)

NeverEndingLaundry · 15/03/2014 12:00

Wow, everything I bet you feel airborne. Have you been saintly?

I accidentally drank about 4 glasses of wine last night, but otherwise carb-minimal. I've gone from 13st to 12:10 since Monday which I'm delighted with and my trousers feel better already.

Can't wait til I get through a whole proper boot camp - this is making me feel so optimistic, which is helping with lots of other areas of my life.

Durham hope it's not difficult tonight. Perhaps eat something before you go so you aren't too hungry to steer clear of carbs?

monkey I've got some ground flaxseed and that 'pizza' sounds really doable. I make bread pizza all the time cos I have a bread machine to do the dough for me, so I'm going to mix up a batch of that as well next time.

FelixFelix · 15/03/2014 12:42

Pizza is my favourite food! Where can I buy flaxseed? Would it be Holland and Barrett or somewhere like that?

FelixFelix · 15/03/2014 12:42

Everything that's a great loss. Well done!

EverythingIsAwesome · 15/03/2014 13:10

Thanks guys :)

Felix, you can get flaxseed in Holland & Barret, but it is much cheaper from Aldi or Morrisons (£1.99 compared to £5.99!)

monkeyfacegrace · 15/03/2014 15:50

Flaxeed is the same as Linseed btw.
Ground linseed is in Aldi for £1.99.

Im losing my willlpower. Had a bloody awful week, 4 lunches out (each low carb but with wine). Then just had a vodka with my neighbour. And a bar of cadbury cola and honeycombe choc. I cannot lose my sweet tooth. Nothing is too sweet. I love it.

I give up as I havent lost for a couple of weeks

DurhamDurham · 15/03/2014 16:08

That's a good plan NeverEndingLaundry, I will eat before I leave the house. If there is a low carb option I'll manage to fit more in and if there isn't I won't feel so deprived! Might have some scrambled eggs around 6-ish, we are due at my sisters at 7.

Hope everyone is having a successfully low carb weekend Smile

Notsoskinnyminny · 15/03/2014 16:23

Bless me BIWI for I have been a carby twat and now feel sick - I fell into a tin of shortbread that needs eating before the end of the month. I had one and felt yuk, it was sooooo sweet, but then had another because they were calling to me from inside the cupboard and I feel worse. Now glugging water to get rid of the taste, can't believe how much my tastebuds have changed, I'd have easily eaten 6+ who am I kidding, half the tin followed by a bag of crisps before bc.

Monkey thanks for the pizza recipe. We always record the F1 races and watch them eating steak baguettes the only time food is ever allowed in the living room and I was wondering what I could have.

Ironing beckons, I love when you can peg the washing out but it means you wash all the stuff that's been lurking at the bottom of the washing basket since October Grin

WhooshFuckerFairy · 15/03/2014 17:16

So totally agree skinny my washing machine has been sorting out a 3 month washing queue ! Soooo nice to get all the towels and all the bedding clean ...., < stops for fear of sounding loopy >
Very very busy work week with conference food, study day sandwiches , forgetting my water and no time for the gym . I am out tonight with an old friend to a nice Southern Indian restaurant - and do fancy a wine or two ( have been virtually teetotal all bootcamp) . I am going to have a really good snack free week next week , at I think stunt is right the dairy treats are a very good way to STS and I think I will certainly have done that this week .
Looking forward to seeing trashy's new room extravaganza x
Hugs to all . Off to defuzz my legs - as spring seems to have sprung __got to be a few pounds worth

FelixFelix · 15/03/2014 19:20

Ah brilliant, I'll get myself to Aldi!

Breakfast today was yoghurt and berries again. Had a coffee with almond milk too. Made celeriac crisps (so good!!!) and mackerel pâté for lunch. The pâté was delicious and so simple to make. Had it with celery sticks, some olives and cheese. I'm still stuffed now though so might just have an omelette or something later on if I get hungry. Day 4 almost over Grin

LittleMissDisorganized · 15/03/2014 20:52

Thank you all so much Blush - we can talk about something else now.

Conference survived with no slips despite pastries and cakes everywhere around me on both journeys! Incredibly emotional day (New Wine Women's National Conference, brilliant music and inspiring speakers).
Sorry not to namecheck tonight, I'm exhausted (again) but yes to keep on keeping on in all ways of meaning.

Night night zzzzzzzz

EvaTheOptimist · 15/03/2014 21:53

Sleep well after all that LittleMiss!

Don't give up Monkey! It is merely the sneaky sneaky carbs setting off your cravings; or perhaps more accurately the sneaky alcohol doing the same job. Then it makes it mentally much harder to keep to the good food choices. You can resist though.

If you give in you will put a lb or two back on... if you head for a bootcamp week next week without the alcohol, with luck you might shift down a lb?

I am down 2lb since Monday which is very odd for me, I usually lose very slowly. I have truly been visited by the Whoosh Fairy and I have no idea why. Certainly the dairy treats and midnight snacks have been going on. I wondered whether it was the release from stress after the public-speaking-at-planning-decision. But since then I've been racing to meet a work deadline so have just swapped one stress for another.

Tomorrow DD and I are going on an all-day trip. My packed salad and babybels are already packed... but I'm going to have to forage for some other food - at motorway service stations - while out, as we'll be out from 7am til possibly 8pm. So, depending how tomorrow goes, I may no longer be showing a 2lb loss by Monday!
