Week 9 - Low Carb Bootcamp - The End is Nigh!

BIWI · 10/03/2014 07:41

Morning all!

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

And don't forget the Weight Tracker

As we get to the end of this Bootcamp, I'd like you all to think about how MNHQ can make our space even better for the next time around.

The original plan was to move to the Weight Tracker and drop the Spreadsheet, which would mean Willie wouldn't have to tend it all the time - but we seem to have kept it going for this Bootcamp. If we were to lose it next time, what do you think you would miss the most?

For me, I think definitely the information in the tabs needs to be transferred over somehow - but is there anything else you'd like to see?

Anyway, a busy week for me as I'm off to Lille Tuesday/Wednesday, up at 5.00 am tomorrow and not getting back home till around 10.00 pm on Wednesday. All I will see will the inside of a taxi, a French supermarket, an office block and another taxi - no time even to go out for dinner on Tuesday night!

And I have no idea what's going to happen on the food front as it's all out of my control But then, that's what this WOE is all about - making the best choices we can at the time.

So - good luck to you all, hope that the fine weather helps you have a great week Flowers

Everything Colman's Garden Mint Concentrate is lowish carb - 4g carbs per 100g. All the other brands I've seen have sugar in.

I suspect I'm losing and gaining the same few pounds so I'm going to start posting my meals again.

B: smoked kipper fillet, Lidl yoghurt with double cream, tea
S: posh pork scratchings
L: salad with HM vinaigrette, Brie and chorizo
S: one square of Tesco Swiss 85% chocolate

RatherBeOnThePiste · 13/03/2014 14:45

Ah BIWI, êtes-vous returned en Angleterre to the bosom de votre famille?

Sommes-nous no more Franglais?

Sad

Off to the dentist now, cracked filling

FelixFelix · 13/03/2014 14:52

Everything I reckon it would work. I saw a recipe someone posted for fish pie and I think it was topped with sliced swede, which sounded lovely.

Breakfast this morning was yoghurt with a tiny handful of berries. Cheese and avocado salad for lunch. I've never eaten avocado on its own, only ever when I've made it in to guacamole and it's delicious!!!! I can't get over how good it was Shock I think I've found my new favourite food. Dinner is going to be butter chicken from the recipe thread with roasted broccoli.

Suzymoo9 · 13/03/2014 17:59

Everything I haven't tried swede on cottage pie but I think it will work, I've had celeriac on top and tonight had some mashed squash (parboiled first) which was delicious (although I think the squast veg carb count is probably a bit high for bootcamp).

EverythingIsAwesome · 13/03/2014 18:01

Cottage pie topped with dauphinoise swede is actually delicious.

SnowieBear · 13/03/2014 18:04

StuntNun just looking at your food choices. If you suspect you are winning and then losing the same few pounds, I'd remove the snacking in the first instance. I find it works for me. Re breakfast, how about yoghurt OR fish, but not both?

Please feel free to ignore me, I'm genuinely trying to be helpful and give back to the thread.

Suzymoo9 · 13/03/2014 18:09

Everythin I will have to try that got to be better than celeriac

StuntNun · 13/03/2014 19:15

Thanks Snowie I just seem to be hungry all the time lately whereas a couple of weeks ago I was occasionally missing lunch because I wasn't hungry. It was one packet of kipper shared between me, DS1 and DS2 this morning so it wasn't enough for a breakfast.

StuntNun · 13/03/2014 19:23

Looking at MFP I have eaten 2200 calories today of which 74% was fat, 20% protein, 6% carbs (26g) so my amount and proportions seem about right, especially as I did a bit of walking today, maybe 5 miles. Not sure where I'm going wrong but maybe I'm not going wrong and the weight loss is just going to be very slow now.

MrsHerculePoirot · 13/03/2014 20:17

stunt how much more do you have to lose? I am sure that there was talk that once you got to where you wanted or close it would be reeeeeeaaallllly slow and that this was perhaps the time to cut back the calories slightly, but I may be talking rubbish!

StuntNun · 13/03/2014 20:45

That's a tricky one MrsHP. My BMI is 21.5 which implies that I don't need to lose weight however I'm still carrying loose fat on my upper arms, back, abdomen and thighs so I want to lose another 10 lb.

SnowieBear · 13/03/2014 20:46

stunt that all sounds right to me... howvare you doing with your water?

Second MrsHP's comment - are you getting close to your goal and is it just a case of slowly does it? I can relate to that... it's so frustrating! However... remember when the weight gain started... it just crept on, didn't it? Well, it's now creeping off ( because it sounds slightly rude).

Piscivorus · 13/03/2014 20:47

I have topped a pie like that before now with Aldi frozen cauliflower cheese. It has 8g carbs in 1/4 pack but I got 6 servings out of it so about 5ish.

Made the IPD Thai Pork Meatballs with peanut sauce which was very nice. Had a couple of strawberries after with a mix of greek yoghurt, cream, lemon zest and juice with a little sweetener, 'twas lush!

LittleMiss Be kind to yourself. Whatever you went through has been tough but you did it! Yaaay! You have made it through a whole year and will now be a healthier and stronger person for that Thanks

SnowieBear · 13/03/2014 20:48

Hey blubber! Creep off!

(grinning like a loon)

MrsHerculePoirot · 13/03/2014 20:54

stunt I see. I have a personal theory people's bodies on this woe just sort of regulate themselves, although this often might not be to any individual's personal agreement if that makes sense! I remember reading (briffa maybe?) that those who were slightly heavier in older age lived longer, were more healthy. Something to do with if you got ill you had more padding to lose, more insulation etc... However I haven't yet got anywhere near so I have no idea how I will feel in that position!! I reckon it will just come off slow, or you might need to exercise to finish of the bits you want finished off maybe...

BIWI · 13/03/2014 21:16

Evening all.

Too tired to read the thread properly. It's been a long week!

Next week is a bit of a case of 'rinse and repeat' except it will be Amsterdam rather than Lille.

I no absolutely no Dutch however, so you won't be treated to me mangling their language Grin

Thanks for your suggestions, crabby, I will bear those in mind Wink

I've completed the first day of ubercamp Smile

I had an omelette for breakfast - 2 eggs and bacon, fried in butter.
Lunch was salmon mayo with roasted garlic, and baby gem lettuce and cucumber.
Dinner was just a slowcooked steak, and watercress with olive oil and red wine vinegar drizzled over.
And a tbsp of coconut oil after each meal.

We don't have to follow the menus faithfully do we? I had no tuna in!

And I was in such a good mood I threw myself around the room to an old Davina McCall workout DVD. I was about four stone lighter the last time I worked out to that, so it was a struggle but I was proud of my purple faced self when I completed it.

I keep hovering around the 13lb loss mark, I'm really keen to lose that first stone.

BIWI · 13/03/2014 21:57

No, you don't have to follow them faithfully! Sounds like a really good day.

GatoradeMeBitch · 13/03/2014 22:09

Thanks BIWI Smile

I hope you have good weather for Amsterdam, I've always wanted to visit, it looks like a stunning city.

BIWI · 13/03/2014 22:13

Sadly I won't have any time to see anything! It will be like this week: early start, airport/taxi/supermarket/research facility/taxi/hotel ...

GatoradeMeBitch · 13/03/2014 22:20

That's a shame. Well I hope it's kinder to you foodwise than this trip was!

SayraT · 13/03/2014 22:23

Good News, Good news Grin

I knew my scales were fucked, I bought some new ones and just weighed myself (after a full day of eating and drinking) and I am 3 lbs down from my previous weight. The old scales were recording me as 16 lbs heavier which I knew wasn't the case.

I have now lost ~17 lbs over BC and this is TOTM as some of you know so very very pleased Grin

Very happy post and just home from my 4th pole dancing lesson and I was amazing tonight even if i do say so myself

EvaTheOptimist · 13/03/2014 23:23

Well done Sayra, excellent, amazing loss

and well done Gatorade for a lovely day's menu

Welcome back BIWI sorry its not long until the merry-go-round takes you to Amsterdam

B - scrambled egg and mushrooms
S - too much cheese
L - tuna mayo salad
D - smoked mackerel, leeks with philadelpia sauce, mashed swede, broccoli
MS (midnight snack) - yogurt & cream

I know for sure today is not a recipe for weight loss with all the dairy snacks. But it is a recipe for hopefully not having the weight creep back on; especially as I've avoided the siren calls of various carbs

EvaTheOptimist · 13/03/2014 23:27

PS and I've been to the pub and ordered a sparkling mineral water... which was free! Can you believe that, a non-spending trip to the pub? It is slightly dull I suppose, but I'm not allowed to drink alcohol and any other option is really sugary. I was tempted to ask for a cup of tea, but I didn't think it was the sort of pub to be able to cope with that.
