It's a bias cut maxi dress and is sleeveless - at the moment, I'm not feeling 100% confident about my upper arms so want to cover them up ... but maybe should just do the old jeans and top thing - bit difficult coz don't want to look like trying too hard - but like I've made an effort if that makes sense - this is a bit like my dress. i also have this

sincitylover · 22/05/2010 21:15

Hi all

kdk - maxi dress sounds lovely.

Sponge sorry to hear of all the crap with exh

Have had a lovely day - took dcs to park, dropped them at exh (till tomorrow morning)

Met wh for a drink.

Back home watching desperate houswives. (on sky +) nice glass of wine

Exh just rung spouting bile about ds1 - apparently he was shouting in the garden when dts were asleep.

He thinks its nohting to do with him being a teen. I really don't know.

DS1 got top mark in school test and teacher asked him if he'd cheated [hmmm] - things seem to be going badly wrong at his school atm. Might see if some others have any places.

As I said he's a handful and challenge but I can't say such negative things about him as exh does.

He is very silly and immature but is not thug like IYKWIM.

Monty100 · 22/05/2010 21:22

Evening ladies

Juice - what's the latest on Mr Rochester and Forces??

Lou - sounds like you've been having fun.

Belle - are you back??

MrsH - why can't you go back to the library??

Betty - how's it going?

Kdk - maxi sounds good. Don't know about the shirt either, do you have a casual pashmina or as Juice says a shrug?? Or a nice bright casual silk shirt?? We need descriptions.

I bought a maxi dress yesterday on a little market that is near my work on Fridays. It was a tenner!!! The stall has Planet and Principles and stuff there usually (obv seconds or something) but I don't know where the maxi is from as the label is cut out but I love it. It's mainly black with some background flowery bits.

Turned this into a S&B thread again.

SCL - xpost.

Its deffo the week of the exh's.

Mine is ensconsed in the South of France somewhere with his gf, has been for two weeks tomorrow, he's back Monday Pratt.

Monty100 · 22/05/2010 21:25

Wish he'd stay there.

Lol

kdk · 22/05/2010 21:26

shirt is just a fitted denim number - came from Tescos I think. Was thinking of wearing it open over dress but maybe not. I also have a slightly fitted scarlet silk shirt but is a bit tight atm and I'm not sure I can do it up!

I just feel that because of the location (trendy north London bar) and age range (30 - 45 women/38 - 50 men) they're going to go for the smarter side of smart/casual iykwim ...

lou33 · 22/05/2010 21:28

mine has still not contacted the kids as he said he would when i reminded him they still existed

lou33 · 22/05/2010 21:29

fitted sounds better, would it look rubbish tied at the front with the dress?

Monty100 · 22/05/2010 21:30

Kdk - you leave the shirt open! surely??

Deffo the week of the ex's.

I think we should collectively make mince meat of Sponge's exh

OP posts:
kdk · 22/05/2010 21:31

too thick to tie - mmm, think I may have to rethink ...

Monty100 · 22/05/2010 21:32

Lou - has your dd come to her senses about exh??
Don't mean to be nosey. Just I had a similar thing with ds about a year ago.

OP posts:
Monty100 · 22/05/2010 21:33

Kdk - leave it open and maybe a scarf as well??

OP posts:
kdk · 22/05/2010 21:37

Shirt is this sort of thing - look I'm going for is this - only with obvious differences in that I am 20 years older, a lot fatter more rounded, a foot shorter - other than that we are twins separated at birth!

SingleMum01 · 22/05/2010 21:39

Juice - yeh it is the extreme opposite which I was struggling with but have decided just to go with the flow and enjoy it for what it is and however long it lasts Yes we did the deed and he's texts me lots today and is coming over tomorrow. We had a chat about the site and he says he's made some friends on there so goes on to message them. What do you reckon? I know you'll be honest!

Monty100 · 22/05/2010 21:42

SM - mmmm sort of fair enough if its true.

Kdk - I reckon you can carry that look off.

OP posts:
SingleMum01 · 22/05/2010 21:52

Monty - exactly, if its true! Call me cynical ....

kdk · 22/05/2010 22:02

Ok, am off to bed as knackered and obviously need my beauty sleep. Will think about what to wear ... but could do with suggestions of ice-breakers/things to ask potential speed-date men - do you ask interview style questions or what???

Monty100 · 22/05/2010 22:03

SM - don't want to sound negative but... I guess until you have the 'chat' he's entitled to be on there.........

I think that's what the more experienced would say.

OP posts:
lou33 · 22/05/2010 23:10

that combo looks good kdk, but its because it is a denim jacket, do you have one like that? can loan you my one if you like

wrt dd, i think she will always be up and down about her father, i mean she has eloquently listed his flaws to me more than once, but at the same time it's her dad, and she is 13, and she still loves him (not that he deserves it), so it's all rather confusing for her, and all of them really

sm, it sounds reasonable, i had the same kind of banter on pof when i was using it, though eventually if they became good enough friends we transferred to msn or fb

as it is early days i would see how things pan out for a bit longer

now more importantly, was he any good?

SingleMum01 · 23/05/2010 07:43

KDK - I guess you need the usual - hobbies, work, fave films, but throw in some unusual questions too like :

If you were guaranteed "success", what would you do?
Would you prefer a holiday in the mountains or one by the sea? Why?
What is a perfect day for you

I love this thread, you all give such good comments, thanks for your advice on mr Blue.

And Lou - Yes, why do you think I'm sticking with it!!!

piratecat · 23/05/2010 10:53

morning all.

dd is hopefully on the mend, with the hip. last 2 weeks were totally stressful. They still don't know what's causing the pain but fingers x'd, she hasn't had any major flare ups for a week now.

I may be going to meet a nice guy sometime this week. I have spoken to him before beriefly on POF about a yr ago, but like him more this time round!! Funny that, but maybe i am either
a, more desp!!, or
b, being more honest with myself about what I am looking for. Having had a couple of encounters that went wrong iyswim?

i just need to meet him, but have a feeling it will be a nice meeting. Hopefully going to do a daytime thing this week.

lou33 · 23/05/2010 12:07

Pirate I am glad dd is on the mend. Also hope the meet goes well.

Sm maybe you follow my train of thought and try everything twice. Once to see if you like it and twice to make sure lol
