You know how the last three years have been so bloody difficult and over that time i have shared a lot on MN which in turn has meant that i have had a huge amount of support which frankly still blows me away. you have walked beside me throu the tears so i think it is only fair that you get to share the joy
..........
The kids continue to make me proud and amaze me in equal measures they have coped with the death of their lovely dad far better than i could have imagined.
i am doing really well, it has been almost 16 months now and i have adjusted to the new life i didn't want or choose and.............................
i feel very lucky for what we do have now.
some of you have asked on facebook what it is that is making me smile and the answer is.......... i have been seeing someone who is very special and he has made me feel very special too.
He says that he understands that i will always love Steve and he doesn't want that to ever change but hopes that i have enough love to share with him

OJ - the road we walk is bumpy enough without people who don't walk in our shoes making negative comments.

Good for you, taking life in both hands and living it..... be happy!

glitterandspangles · 05/10/2009 16:20

This is fab to read.
Oj we know how difficult the path has been for you, Steve wanted you to be happy.
Please just ignore the evil in-laws, you won't ever get their approval for anything you do so don't waste time looking for it.
Walk tall and carry on being you.

onlyjoking9329 · 05/10/2009 22:37

Thanks all, it is great to feel like this, i didnt ever expect to feel like this ever again to be honest.

fortyplus · 08/10/2009 01:19

OJ you remember I told you about a dear friend of ours who died a few years ago? Hell for everyone at the time thought it didn't last a long time like you and poor Steve.

Well his wife has started seeing his best friend who has been single for years! And they are happy too, but she was really worried about what everyone would think - bless her!

Luckily she only has lovely friends not evil in-laws!

onlyjoking9329 · 08/10/2009 06:45

Lovely to hear about your mate fourtyplus.
One of the things I struggle with is bumping into people that knew steve had cancer but don't know that he died, I would feel really bad if I were out with tom when that happened.
It's alway good to have a hat I think!
Tom luckily doesn't scare easy he is a nurse, elliot said I have always wanted to be a page boy and wear tophat and tails! Luckily tom thought it was very funny and agreed top hat and tails were very cool!
