evening all!
hope everyone is well, i am too tired to read back, sorry
today was ds2's 10th birthday and i have been chained in the kitchen for most of it, baking up birthday treats, i started at 9.30 this morning after he opened his gifts, and finished at 5pm!
by which time of course i was too tired to eat much of anything , but it all went down v well, and ds2 said it was the best birthday yet
dp spent the weekend gutting the garage to turn into a surprise den for the kids, which they love
it needs making more homely but that will come over time
the worst job was the big chest freezer i had in there
i hadnt used it for maybe a couple of years, though it had long forgotten food in it, and was still switched on (or so i thought)
except when dp opened it, he discovered it had at some point been switched off and everything in there had rotted so the stench was foul, and i mean really bad like a dead body had decomposed in it
the only person who had been in there for god knows how long was the exh when he took his stuff in may 09, so it had to have been him
honestly it was so bad dp had to keep leaving for fresh air and was nearly sick
then when he was trying to empty it of the horrendous liquified food it spilled on the floor, and it was so awful i could smell it from the kitchen which is about 25 feet away!
anyway he stuck with it, and with the help of dd2 and ds1 they cleaned it all up and made countless trips to the dump, which included the freezer
so now it has blue fairy lights as well as the normal lighting, a dart board, a couple of seats, a football table and some storage
in time i will make it more homely and get some rugs and a music system in etc
but for now it was an extra bonus for today
exh sent ds2 a card with a note saying he will get him a gift for when he sees him next, though when that will be i dont know
he just called and spoke only to ds2, asked how his day went and said about getting him something to him as well, but didnt fix up when to see him
its probably cos he has the hump, as he emailed me a few days ago asking if he could have ds2 dropped over on his own one day to stay overnight, but ds2 said he didnt want to sleep over, so when i told exh he said it was a shame as they could have time together
when i replied saying he could still see him all day he said he would organise it "soon", and has not replied to me saying why couldnt he organise it now, as ds is on half term
anyway, despite that we have all had a good day, though i am shattered
i need a weekend to get over the weekend!
