ninah - yes, you need to be in the right place i think.:) dresses &haircuts anda little putting yourself on the priority list are good, positive things! :)

daily emails from my french beau. nothing smutty (boooooo!) but it's lovely to be thought of and talk to a guy about families and backgrounds and histories.:) lovely boozy lunch with male best friend from 20 years ago - nothing untoward, just a mini-confidence boost to be told you're gorgeous & have a hug and platonic kiss!

ninah · 28/12/2010 19:48

yes, it's a nice vibe isn't it, the conversation
am feeling a bit bleurgh about my appearance at present. For a while it didn't matter that I only saw under 8s and women. I have to admit to making a lot more effort with my appearance when there's men around. I know it's lazy and un pc.
have a wodge of middle aged spread atm which Xmas really hasn't helped.

I have to kick myself to get interested again. I haven't had to because I have had company whenever I have wanted it etc. But the starting of night shifts and the vague possibility of a girlfriend taking up time as well, I really should try a bit harder.

ninah · 28/12/2010 20:05

but I quite like being not interested! it is rare to just stumble into a fia man round here so i can go for ages without really bothering
when do your shifts start, was it hard to find child care?

OP posts:
Flame · 28/12/2010 20:14

Not mine - the dwarf is starting nights so he won't just be lurking round my house in the evenings.

I miss being interested. It was a buzz for a while

ninah · 28/12/2010 20:44

oh I see! sorry
yes it is a buzz I suppose, in a scary kind of way.
I'm out of practice. what are the keys signs that a man is interested? eye contact?

OP posts:
Flame · 28/12/2010 20:59

fck knows - I have all the signs going and still not interested!

hatesponge · 28/12/2010 21:23

hello all, hope everyone had a lovely Xmas :)

Was a quiet one here, friends round last night and stayed for lunch today which was nice. Other than that has just been me and the boys (and lots of food and drink).

Am out to the shops tomorrow to get Ds1 a 'skin' for his Ipod, and to get a new phone as mine has given up the ghost.

Have decided am going to get organised in 2011. So diet starts next week (trying to lose about 4 stone in the next 6 months....I hope!), and I have some builders coming to give me quotes to finish the house.

Monty27 · 28/12/2010 22:13

Hey everybody Xmas Grin

Sponge I just sent you a msg on fb. xx

elastaelf · 28/12/2010 22:20

hatesponge · 28/12/2010 22:34

monty - I've replied Grin

Am trying to finish off the Xmas treats before next week's diet/healthy eating starts....am almost at the stage of being sick of chocolate. Not a sentence I ever thought I would find myself saying!

christmaseve · 29/12/2010 00:20

Sponge, we are lovely as your are.

Hi Monty, gawd your DD is so much taller than you!

I've had a bit of a row with family tonight they have now idea wtf is going down with education, and next thing they think its a good idea to keep our kids waiting until they are 21 to buy a drinks. GRRRRRR. I want to kill them, imagine how they would have felt to get their human rights viouleted!!!!! at 17

christmaseve · 29/12/2010 00:24

Sorry about the spelling mistakes, love my family but some I want to throttle!!!!

Janos · 29/12/2010 10:52

Hi everyone,

How was Christmas? Me and DS had a lovely relaxing one one with my family (didn't have to prepare a meal for 4 days, bliss) and have come back feeling thoroughly relaxed. Glad it's over tho cos I always find the run up stressful.

Unfortunately I have also come down with a stinky cold but at least I don't have to work (counts blessings).

Have also eaten way too much over Christmas but similarly can't be arsed with diets. Will need to be more active.

In other happy news, most of the snow up here seems to have disappeared.

Eve - sympathise with you re the stupid comments. My Dad has a habit of coming out with some real humdingers, I tend to tune them out.

Janos · 29/12/2010 10:55

"dresses &haircuts anda little putting yourself on the priority list are good, positive things!"

I agree with this persephone,it tends to be low priority when you are dealing with..well everything that goes with being an lp, doesn't it.

I always feel better about myself when I make an effort with my appearance, so do it whenever I get the opportunity.

lou33 · 29/12/2010 11:29

Morning. I came down with something unpleasant v early yesterday morning too. Sympathy to you janos.

Dd2 is 14 today. She is pleased with her gifts and v good wrt me being in bed. Her father is being a tosser tho. She cried when she got off the phone from him.

I am hoping to get upright soon andgo buy her birthday cake ingredients which will cheer her up

Milytoe · 29/12/2010 11:56

Morning

took ages to read the thread......

Aurora, belated happy birthday

Lilac Envy at Dorchester and Grin at what a lovely time you had and sofa prospects

MZ, great about the dates and what the others said about waiting 3 years before taking the plunge

Elasta, glad you had such a lovely Christmas especially the skiing Grin, also vg news re university man

Ninah, yay for FIA radar coming back on

Hi everyone else

I had the nicest Christmas I can remember for years and years. TLM and his DD1, my dds, and my DPs, just lovely. XH didn't like having anyone else round on Xmas day so we didn't and I missed that as am gregarious and love my wider family. Great fun to have 7 of us round the table and a goose to cook.

TLM reduced me to tears with lots of very thoughtful presents, inc delicious Jo Malone smellies and a beautiful watch - he knows me so well and had taken so much care in choosing a wrapping......I can't believe I deserve him! Plus how he is with my family and how incredibly helpful he was all the time, making sure my mum put her feet up instead of her usual trick of chaining herself to the sink.

DDs went to Xh yesterday, I pick them up later today then they are there Friday to Sunday. TLM DD off to her mum's this afternoon......who is coming HERE to collect her as she wants to meet me! Since I collected TLM DD from scholl that time he was too ill to go she has been lobbying to meet me, which is fine I think I would be the same. So that will be interesting.

aristomache · 29/12/2010 11:58

Hello! well I finally paid up for a site (plentymorefish) and already chatting with 2 local possibilities Grin

Plus an old flame of mine from 2 years ago got in touch again and we spent all last night chatting and having a laugh.

So since I first posted on this thread things are looking up a little!!

ninah · 29/12/2010 12:09

lou my dd birthday was yesterday! it's a funny one, isn't it, yet MORE presents. Sorry ex made her cry Sad
and hope you feel a bit better soon
mily sounds like you had a wonderful Xmas, so pleased for you.
hi to everyone else, janos that's exactly it, the looking good stuff tends to get pushed way down the list wwhen you have limited child free time. my sisters spend days and days sale shopping, salons etc! whereas I don;t normally have time, money or energy. I've been watching some hitckcock films where the women are always so immaculate, and it kind of gave me a prod!

OP posts:
Janos · 29/12/2010 15:47

:( lou at your XH upsetting DD2. Is she OK? Did you manage to get cake ingredients?

For all my fancy pants chat about wearing smart clothes and doing make ups I look a fright today, slobbing round in trackers and and old t-shirt. DS looks smarter than me in jeans and a jumper.

mily - sounds like you had a fantastic xmas, how lovely! TLM sounds an absolute star :)

ninah - I hardly get time for that stuff either. Last time as went to the hairdressers (a 2-3 times a year experience, max) I nearly fell asleep I was so tired.

ninah · 29/12/2010 16:49

lol janos you are a step ahead of me today, you got dressed!

OP posts:
Janos · 29/12/2010 17:17

Hah nina - only just!

lou - hope DD2 is enjoying her birthday.

Flame · 29/12/2010 17:36

I am soooo jealous of tlm.

Why did XH never tell me I looked good? Since he has been gone I seem to being told it a lot (and not in a "you're pretty sleep with me..." way). Finally starting to vaguely believe I look ok.

I am nearly 30. Surely I should have felt like that before?

Angry with Lou XH (as always)

aurorastarofbethlehem · 29/12/2010 18:39
