good morning all

KC bless your mum, hope move goes well

Ros - I am terribly soppy about that stuff and would probably be in tearsso cute

foxie what can I bake today to disguise the 'not so clean smell'?

hi everyone hope you ok

bahKewcHumbug · 13/12/2007 10:16

steppie - if you get a chance could you pop over and see if my mum is OK? She's taken Daniel but I didn;t think hse looked that well herself this morning. Did say she shuld see if he could go over top play with DD for an hour but she seemed reluctant to ask...

Paddlechick666 · 13/12/2007 10:41

sj, what size feet are you? i'm sure we could rustle something up to go with your dress between us.

took 2.5hrs to get to work this morning have missed my 10am meeting and had a nice row with my mother before leaving!

arg!

kc, hope your mum is okay today. this single thing is tough when your childcare goes west. hope the CM is better soon, does she not have a backup? mine does and dd knows her quite well (as engineered by cm) so when she went sick earlier this year backup had dd. worked really well.

am still up for kew sat evening if anyone else is?

OP posts:
bahKewcHumbug · 13/12/2007 11:32

yes am still up for Kew Sat evening.

CM didn't offer any alternative so don't think she can have any back up at ;east not for full days. She does use her DH and anotehr CM for short emergncies but not longer.

Managed to get my sister on the phone so hopefully she will take DS for a few hours this arfo to give my mum a break.

sfxmum · 13/12/2007 12:38

KC how are things set up for tomorrow? do you need help? am sure it would be fine to let ds trash the place with dd for a while

am very impressed with the online cycle store dh's present arrived within 2 days of order

mellow would it be ok to drop by early next week? sorry I know I am leaving things a bit late

we are like;y to do kew on saturday as it's the last day before Christmas we have free as a family to go there

SJ99 · 13/12/2007 13:16

Hi QC, we maybe a bit grounded tom as have to wait in for a technician so you are welcome to bring DS round if it will help

SFX - do you like brownies? Have good recipe if you do

Thanks Paddle, I have size 3.5 feet, dress is floor length navy, stylish but a bit funky with a hood! I have worn this dress with boots before which is why I don't have shoes to match - can anyone help? When DS wakes up may head to Kew Retail and see what's there - anyone want to help me shoe shop?

If DH is wearing black tie (he hasn't confirmed yet) I will have to wear the other dress as it's a proper evening gown, floor length pink(!) satin. I will just have to not eat or breathe all night though

What time are you all getting to Kew on Sat? It's unlikely we will go, but if we do we won't stay late but maybe we can say hi

sfxmum · 13/12/2007 13:25

SJ kew retail not famed for their shoes but I think M&S have some nice strappy sandals in their limited collection. how very manlike of your dh it's all just details for them

brownies yum, am currently making my way through Nigella's chocolate cake Hall of Fame trying to decide which one to make for our Christmas party

SJ99 · 13/12/2007 13:36

I know limited choice at Kew but it's easy with parking etc. I thought I'd have look there today and then if I don't find anything can head to Richmond on Fri/Sat.

Trouble is DS not a very good shopping companion, I can leave him with DH on Sat but don't really want to shop on Sat if I can help it to avoid the crowds...

MMmmm choc cake, Nigella's stuff is so rich but tastes yummy! will do some baking next week for Xmas guests

foxcubinapeartree · 13/12/2007 13:38

SJ cannot imagine you not getting into a dress, you seem so petite to me ... good luck with your shopping. Why don't you try Monsoon in Richmond too, they have good dressy dresses sometimes (maybe check online first?)

I'd suggest Ebay but 1st probably too late in the day now...

slng · 13/12/2007 13:44

sfx - what online cycle store is that? Can you let me into the secret? Am looking for possible pressie for dh.

SJ99 · 13/12/2007 13:49

Thanks Foxie - let's just say the dress is quite tight fitting and is passable but looks better without a mummy tummy IFKWIM

Anyway I can hear DS chatting in his cot will take him for walk and have look round Richmond, best time to shop is when he's alseep! Just had a look online and Next have some nice shoes that don't cost a fortune, what do you think? Will also have a look in Monsoon

stepfordwife · 13/12/2007 13:54

hi chaps

what madness possesses me to try and sort out bank stuff and shop with dd in tow?

kew, sorry just seen your posts. CM was saying she's going to organise a back-up CM..
anyhow, funnily enough, dd is going on about ds..

so got a bit of work to do (dd is 'helping' me dismantling the printer...oh, get well soon, CM!) but shall i swing by and get ds for a ply when i've got the boys from school?

don't want to disturb her if ds is with your sister and she's resting.

happy to have him for a few hours tomorrow if that helps.
are you sorted, foxie?
Poor CM kept apologising, but she sounds dreadful, doesn't she? hope she's better next week (half altruistic/half selfish)

stepfordwife · 13/12/2007 13:57

play not ply
wouldn't ply anyone with your ds..

hope everyone well, will read thread later, but always got tim,e for shoes, so..
SJ - those sandals are gorge. particularly like the silver ones with big flower

sfxmum · 13/12/2007 13:59

slng here they were very good.

SJ know what you mean about toddler shopping companions I need to get some glassware and presents but not with dd. can't even buy clothes for me 'look your bobbies' ' you have a big tummy' all shouted from fitting room

but saturday is my day to shop unfortunately it will be horribly busy

SJ99 · 13/12/2007 14:00

You have good taste, those were the ones I liked too! Hope you get your through your work Steppie
Right off to Richmond now

SJ99 · 13/12/2007 14:03

LOl SFX, I just get constant whinging 'want to get down from pushchair', once released he runs riot round the shop and I end up having to chase him and then struggle to get him back in pushchair, it's really not worth it, is it?!

Typical now I'm ready to go to shop, all silent from DS rm, he's prob fallen asleep knowing my luck. Oh well will have to brave it on Sat instaed

stepfordwife · 13/12/2007 14:07

tasteful minds think alike, SJ!
about to give up on work as dd is now in her fave position clinging to my back and non too gently brushing my sodding hair...

LOL sfx..dd's fave shrill judgment is BIG bum, BIG bum, wobble, wobble, wobble...

make you feel so damn attractive, doesn't it? [FGRIN]

kew, meant CM was organising back-up for the future...

sfxmum · 13/12/2007 14:18

teaching them to speak is highly overrated

festivevillas · 13/12/2007 14:33

er .. yes it is - it has just been pointed out that I have hairy legs. Looks like it's time to check in with Nicky!

mellow2 · 13/12/2007 15:53

Hi SJ,

If you dont' find anything on Sat, you can borrow a pair of my party shoes. I'm an Italian 35.5 to 36 in summer and evening shoes.

It was nice to see you yesterday too Sorry about the MIL whining . Clearly I haven't been getting out much.

Sfx,
Just let me know when. I'm probably working 1 to 2 days next week.

mellow2 · 13/12/2007 15:57

Sorry that didn't come out right. I meant you're welcome to borrow my party shoes as we're the same shoe size.

bahKewcHumbug · 13/12/2007 20:00

steppie - many thanks - I gather DS had a lovely time at yours adn my mum took him aorund to my sisters after tea so my cousins couls entertain him so I think she got through the day not too badly in teh end. I think sh;es planning to take him to the playgroup behind Mortlake sorting office at around 10am if you want to go... I think her next door neighbour is taking her two. Hopefully tomorrow won't be tookmuch for her then.

Tis the big move tomorrow - have been so busy with the bigger stuff that haven;t actually packed my own desk up yet. Planning to take car in tomorrow so we have a runner between the two offices but I could really do with sat nav tomorrow as neither in in a part of town I know very well...

Oh well.

rosmerta · 13/12/2007 20:28

hi all, yes there might have been a few tears yesterday but at least he's too young to realise he's been embarrassed by mum!!

Sj, hope you get some shoes for your do. I'd love to have the chance to get dressed up again but dh's works do is work only.

And I am still up for Kew on Saturday though don't know how long we'll stay!

rosmerta · 13/12/2007 20:30

btw, wanted to get your views on this. Dh wants to get this for his sisters for xmas and probably one for us. There's part of me thinks that's really cool and part that thinks its not going to work!

Paddlechick666 · 13/12/2007 20:49

ros, IMO? honestly? NO!!!!

kew, hope all goes well tomorrow.

dd first night off medi-sed for a long time. coughing well at the mo!
