Vicky31 · 08/03/2008 13:08

Fine with me too.

Harri1 · 08/03/2008 14:06

Got people coming over for dinner tonight first time i've entertained since dd born and am bit nervous abou getting everything done and getting her sorted especially as dh sems to think we have time to shop after the rugby so no ingredients bought yet!!!!!

Mine · 08/03/2008 15:16

oh boy.. its going to be stressful... the first time we entertained was more stressful for me than dh ever imagined. Mainly because you want everything to be perfect, esp your dd!! They never are though.

Whats on the menu Harri??

Jello39 · 09/03/2008 18:23

Hi everyone,

a busy day yesterday so didn't get a chance to log on.

pregnancy is going well, I had a niggle with my fibroids over Xmas but nothing since so thankfully the doctors will let me go ahead with a v. birth. did'nt really want a c -section. they were worried would come v. early so that's why we organised so far in advance.

We are having a boy, dh wanted a girl but happy now with anything.

so used to being active finding it hard to rest but know I have to. doing swimming twice a week along with yoga.
would love to meet up with you guys if that is ok next friday.

Mine · 09/03/2008 19:47

i remember those uncomfortable last few weeks jello very well, so hope you get some rest.

Congrats ..... boys are luffly!!! I had one too!!
Funny though that we assume all me want boys when some actually wants girls... when you finally have the baby though it doesn;t really matter. You're just chuffed they're healthy!!

Defo come along on friday... i miss being pregnant (sometimes so it'll be nice to hear all about your pregnancy.

Can't believe you are still so active. I just didn't have the energy to move around too much in my final days. Was very bored and frustrated though as you just can't move fast enough to do anything.

You must be very excited.

Jello39 · 10/03/2008 12:30

I feel very big and sometimes find the stairs a real effort. I have to say that I do feel rather bored now as I am so used to being busy when I am at work.

I think these last few weeks are going so slow and I am at the stage now of wanting to see the little one.

he is so active. sometimes I'd love a few hours of my body not moving and being still but then i worry something is wrong if I do not feel him moving. can't win.

defo excited but as it is new territory also starting to worry as I don't have any experience of babies.

Vicky31 · 10/03/2008 14:17

Hi everyone
What a horrible day. Dh is taking a sickie from work (bad man)and we're going to brave the elements soon and go for a mooch round the shops as we're getting cabin fever stuck in the house with a bored baby.
I know how you feel Mine about missing being pregnant sometimes - it was so special and exciting, and I loved my bump and really enjoyed it (apart from really achey legs at night in the last few months). I didn't have any experience of babies whatsoever but we managed - you just do somehow. Jello, do you have family near you to help out? It will be good to see you on Friday.
Have a good day ladies.

Vicky31 · 10/03/2008 14:18

Harri - how did the entertaining go?

Mine · 10/03/2008 14:25

don;t worry... when its your first baby you can never be really prepared for what is to come. It will be a mssive shock.

top tips from me would be to read up on c-sections...... although you may not have one, its always good to be prepared just in case. I was all set for a normal birth but things got very difficult and ended up having to deliver by c section. I was totally unprepared for it as recover is so much slower.

Also read up on colic... i din;t have a clue about it until after i had ds who suffered very badly from colic. Had i known then what i know now, i would have coped far better.

Which hospital are you with??

Mine · 10/03/2008 14:27

sorry just read that back after i clicked 'post' and it sounds like i'm scaring you!!

I just wanted to let you know some things that people never told me

Harri1 · 10/03/2008 14:35

HI entertaining was ok!
Food went down well kept it simple but still v tasty.
Preparation for the meal was v. stressful and dh didn't have a clue just stressed me even more!!!!!
How is everyone else?

Jello39 · 10/03/2008 18:57

Hi,

Mine thanks for the tips. sure it will be a shock to the system. It was a shock just getting pregnant as we spent 4 years trying so it took a few months for it to really sink in.

I'm at Chase Farm Hospital. Midwifes are really nice. Hoping to go into the Birthing Centre, keeping my fingers crossed.

Will read up on the colic. I've read a lot on c-sections as we were 50/50 on c-section/natural up until last week when consultant gave go ahead for a v. birth.

just had a pedicure. my feet look and feel wonderful. they looked like some monsters foot as I got my husband to cut them before.

Can face labour now, is that me being rather vain!

amyaustin · 10/03/2008 21:07

Hello Enfield! I am new to the area and wanted to start to hook up with like minded soon to be mummys.... i'm due at end of april....the enfield ncts are days during the week and i'm still at work so not sure if i'm going to be able to go till the one in the third week of april which may be too late! i'm going to ask the woman who organizes the group to put me in touch with an appropriate group - but does anyone out there know of any new to be mums in the area? i'm in EN2. I also am looking for yoga/pilates or other prenatal groups...? thank you for your help in anticipation!
xx

Mine · 10/03/2008 21:40

hi amy

Not sure where the pregnancy yoga/pilates classes are... i tried to find them when i was pregnant but there weren't any specialist ones.. i was told to go along to a beginners class and they'd try and tailor parts of the session for you... never got around to it in the end!

Stupidly, most tended to be during the week.. which may not be of any use to you at the mo.

Do you know what you're having????

jello - hope you have a v birth, but c-section isn't that bad once you're done you're homework!! Either way all you care about is getting your lo out into the big wide 'orrible world safely!!

Harri - what was on your party menu???

panache · 10/03/2008 22:04

Hello all.

What a terrible day, I was almost blown over!

Mine, I know you're not a snob because I feel the same way. I really don't think there's anything wrong with aspiring for more. I'm back to work to try to move up a rung on the old property ladder. If I'm honest the career ladder too. At least I get to drive to work.

I can't do next Friday for a meet up, so have a coffee for me.

I really missed my bump for the first few months after having my DD. I love looking at photos of me pregnant, my hair and skin was great...I glowed.

As far as my labour went, I found my TENS machine really helpful, the gym ball and keeping mobile.

panache · 10/03/2008 22:10

Hi Amy,

I couldn't find an antenatal pilates class in Enfield. I did a postnatal class for 9 weeks in Walthamstow.

I did do antenatal aquanatal classes at David Lloyd that one of the midwives at Chase Farm ran. I did that until I was 39 weeks pregnant.

Harri1 · 11/03/2008 09:02

Hi mine
dinner menu-
Olives, crusty bread and olve oil balsamic vinegar dip
Starter- flat mushrooms stuffed with redpesto, garlic, cheese and breadcrumbs, grilled with pine nuts on top
Main- chicken breast stuffed with mozerella wrapped in parma ham served with a leek and tomato sauce and new potatoes
Dessert- mini apple tarts (from maison blanc bit of a cheat) with raspberries strawberries and vanilla hagen daz!!!
Very nice and simple just a bit stressful to prepare.

Hows life with you? Am looking forward to friday!

Harri1 · 11/03/2008 09:04

Who is coming on friday?
Vicky31,mine, jello39, amyaustin?
am ooking forward to meeting you all

Jello39 · 11/03/2008 14:38

Hi, i'm coming on Friday.

Amyaustin - re pregnancy yoga, I think there is a class on Thursdays at Kingsmead School,by Southbury Centre 8pm - 10pm a girl at antenatal classes told me about it. I prefer to go to one in Crouch End at the YMCA as it is on a Thu morning as I am always up early these days but sure too far for you. Maybe you can ring the school to find out more info, maybe Southbury Centre will know.

I still do aqua natal at 37 weeks at John Lloyd. great to relax and not feel so fat for 45 mins. good exercise too for the body.

Are you with Chase Farm if so they should have sent you a list of workshops and aqua natal classes available.

Harri1 - that dinner menu looks wonderful!!!

Mine · 11/03/2008 17:24

Harri that sounds yummy!!!
I bet they were very impressed. Did lo behave????

I'm definitely still ok for friday. Am excited.

Got weighed today at weightwatchers.. lost 1.5 lbs!! Hurrah.

Going out for an indian tonight, which is not great for my diet, but i'm allowed to be naughty sometimes!!

I wish i'd known about these classes whilst i was pg.... hey hoo.

Vicky31 · 11/03/2008 17:37

Hello all
Great menu Harri - makes me feel hungry just reading it. I went into London for lunch with the girls from work today which was nice. Managed to leave ds with my mum so I could just be me for a few hours. I don't fancy getting the pushchair up and down the escalators.
Jello, I had some nice pedicures when I was pregnant too - I'm sure its essential and not just an indulgence It's very weird when you can't reach your own feet.
I didn't do any classes while pregnant. I had good intentions but they were difficult to find and in the end I just couldn't be bothered. NIcer to have a little nap instead.

Harri1 · 11/03/2008 20:11

Hi mine lo was in bed by the time visitors arived and was a star while I prepared everything.Well done at ww and enjoy indian tonight.
Hi vicky31 i've been into londona few times and if i'm on my own use the trusty sling makes it much easier- only take buggy if dh is with me as escalators are ok but there are always steps too!!!!
Bet it was nice to o on your own though have a bit of a girlie catch up where did you go?

Mine · 11/03/2008 22:53

hello ladies
We had a lovely time at the Indian restaurant.. food was yummy, but best of all ds was an absolute angel.. yes we even took him too! He just sat in his maxi-cosi all night perched on a chair and chomped on his delicious hands all night, then nodded off whilst we chatted away. Dream child tonight.. means he will make me pay tomorrow!!

Cousin coming over tomorrow for lunch and bringing her 8 week old twin girls... its there proper first outing.
I don;t know how she does it..... i certainly would not be able to cope with twins. I think i would literally crack up

Sounds like you had fun in london Vicky!! Where did you go???

I'm due to go next week to have lunch with my boss.. am dreading it to be honest. Even the smell of the tube makes me sick as it reminds me of work .

Wish i was verrryyyy rich!
