Vicky31 · 05/03/2008 12:56

Hi MIne
I'm still ok to meet up. Sorry not to reply sooner.
Harri - hope you are feeling better soon. I hope you have someone to help you with baby today.

Mine · 05/03/2008 16:51

How are you feeling Harri??

Vicky and i met up, had a lovely time. Hopefully you can make it next time.... maybe next week if you're up to it.

VVVQVJournalist · 05/03/2008 17:59

LOL, yes I did! I have a penchant for changing my name a little bit here and there.

Great to see you are all meeting up

There isnt an awful lot to do with under 1's in Enfield. Although I am investigating more as part of my role as Enfield Tsarina

If you know of any great baby massage classes or post-natal groups - please do post a recommendation on the local board.

Mine · 05/03/2008 18:05

hi VVVQ - the mystery has been solved!! Thanks for starting the thread.. great idea. I almost gave up on any mumsnetters in Enfield!

Meet up was great...we'll do it again soon, so hopefully you'll be available.

Re massage/post natal groups... i tried but failed to find any. Seems they will have a list at your local library but i have yet to see them!
Let me know if/when you get any info.
How old is your DC??

VVVQVJournalist · 05/03/2008 18:12

Yes, it is very limited, other than the baby clinics run by the HV's (who are under tremendous pressure and have staff shortages).

My two are 5 and 3 next month. (both april babies!).

It's easier to go to places to meet when they are older (softplay, parks etc). It gives them something to do while you chat etc.

Mine · 05/03/2008 18:30

thank goodness it gets easier...ds played up a bit whilst meeting with Vicky...... he's not usually a cryyy baby but was well behaved enough!

Trying to make the most of my year off, so am taking ds to a zoo in hertfordshire... you could say its more of an outing for me then him!

Harri1 · 06/03/2008 08:15

Hi all, glad you had a good time will def meet up next week.
Feeling much better today 24hour thing I think. And no I didn't have any help with dd yesterday but thankfully she was an angel, she made up for it last night though when dh was on duty
Hi vvvvq I haven't heard of anything in Enfield either - library has rhyme times and toy lending and theres lots of music groups for older children but no massage or post nata exercise. There is a group called Pushy Mothers which is exercise with baby in buggy which has a website

Harri1 · 06/03/2008 08:16

How's life with your 3 year old????

Vicky31 · 06/03/2008 11:21

Hi all
Just a quickie as ds is demanding that I entertain him. Mine, it was great to meet up yesterday and I'd definitely be up for doing something next week. Maybe a coffee or a walk in the park if it's nice.
Glad to here you are feeling better Harri.

panache · 06/03/2008 23:05

Hi all,

Finally an Enfield meet up thread! This is my first ever post, and all because I saw this thread.

There's not much to do in Enfield, but I did join the NCT and have made quite a few friends.

My DD is now 10months old, and I've done a variety of groups including Pushymothers at Trent Park. Really good fun, but I'm back to work and I don't finish early enough to get to the class.

I live in Edmonton, on the border with Ponders End. I drive, and I'm always out in Enfield Town. When DD was younger I was often found breastfeeding in Cafe Nero

If the next meet up is on one of my afternoons off I'll try to join you.

Mine · 07/03/2008 11:23

hey Panache, sounds like you don;t live too far from me..... i'm in Ponders End, just off South Street.

We'll defo do another meet up..... last one was in starbucks in Enfield Town.

You were lucky to get into an NCT group... we were too late but i've heard mixed things about them, so was glad we couldn;t get in!!!!

Whats you're DD like???

Do you work local??

Mine · 07/03/2008 11:24

ohh forgot to ask, Vicky did you win the pub quiz the other night?????

Vicky31 · 07/03/2008 13:03

No....we never do! Nice to have a drink and a gossip though.
ds just gone tp sleep so off to read some of my book that I can't put down 'The Other Boileyn Girl'
Hows your day?

panache · 07/03/2008 14:28

Hello Mine,

I'm not too far from you at all.

My DD is lovely, but don't all mums say that. She has curly hair and 4 teeth, and fed like a demon overnight. I'm glad to be at work today for the rest! She's really cute, but petite.

As I said before I've made a few friends through the NCT, so it's been a positive experience for me. However the Enfield branch isn't as active as Haringay's. We do try to arrange activities, not just coffee mornings. We're off to Clown Town in Finchley next Thursday. Sometimes we go to soft play at Sporty's in Southbury leisure centre.

I work in Newham, so my journey time is about 20 to 25minutes, depending on the A406.

What about you? Are you thinking of going back to work? How old is/are your DC/DCs?

Jello39 · 07/03/2008 16:31

Hi

I live in Palmers Green, looking to get together with any expectant mums (I am due on 28 March) or even Mums that have just had babies to get some views on parenting as this is my first and really quite worried.

Finally finished work last week so twiddling my fingers now as we have been prepared for the baby 2 months ago.

Mine · 07/03/2008 17:17

hey ladies..... welcome Jello!

Vicky - why break tradition and win at pub quizzes !!

Panache - i have to go bad to work in Sept. Really not looking forward to it as i have to commute into Leicester Square it'll mean i won;t see ds from 7am until 7pm

If we didn;t intend on moving out of wabbish Ponders End i wouldn;t go back to work, but unfortunately ponders end is not the best area to bring up my ickle boy!

Do i sound like a snob!!!!!!

Where's Harri?????????

Jello39 · 07/03/2008 17:35

HI Mine

thanks for the welcome.

Panache - know what you mean, I am due to go back to work in August, not really looking forward to it as I commute into Tottenham Court Road, Would love longer but financially need to go back. know what you mean about Ponders End!!

Mine · 07/03/2008 21:56

Do you know what you are having??

You sound mega organised if you've already got everything you need!! Just need the baby to arrive now...

Harri1 · 08/03/2008 09:23

Hi all I am still here had a crazy couple of days!!!!
Mine- you don't sound like a snob I work down the hertford road know what you mean about your lo!!!
Jello- I'm in Palmers green if you ever fancy a stroll round broomfield park

Sooooo ladies when are we going to meet up next I fel jealous that I missed out last week?

Mine · 08/03/2008 10:00

Harri !! You're back!
What have you been up to??

DS had his 3rd set of jabs yesterday... the poor little mite cried for about 30seconds, gave the nurse a very nasty look and turned to me for a cuddle!!

Thats my boy!!
So as a treat for him i pigged out on chinese.........

i'm up for another meet up. Happy to go back to starbucks.

Everyone free next friday??

Harri1 · 08/03/2008 10:41

Hi sorry to be away so long!!
Had a couple of busy days, food shopping, visiting hubbies work to show off DD.
OOOHHH jabs, am sure they are worse for mums than lo's. Sounds like a brave ds though fair play have you got the calpol on hand?

Next friday sounds okay to me evil bugs permitting same time 2ish?

Vicky31 · 08/03/2008 10:57

Friday sounds good to me.
Hi Jello, hope the pregnancy is going well. The only advice I would have is gets lots of sleep and rest now while you still have the chance. Wow, only 20 days till due date!
