I see all these threads for Aussie people and thought we should have our own thread too. Not sure why, I just felt the need to make us feel special too!

So, who's stateside and where are you?

I'll start:

Mamama - in Chicago

Hi Y'all, Califrau? I get the feeling you've been over here too long!

Next you'll be saying Howdy!!

Is this it? Just 4 of us?

Has MamaApronStrings returned to the UK now then?

alipiggie · 06/06/2007 02:06

Alipiggie - chilling in Erie (nr Boulder hippy chick center) Colorado

Hi Guys. Lovely weather here today. Pools are all open, so we're enjoying ourselves. Schools out on Friday and I'm off in my stretch limo on Saturday to see The Police. Yahoooooooooooooooooo.

tinpot · 06/06/2007 02:32

I'm in North Carolina.

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 06/06/2007 02:57

Ok, that was weird, it ate my message, I'll try again. I'm a native Oregonian, and currently reside outside Portland. Didn't realize there were this many in the U. S.

mamama · 06/06/2007 03:30

OOoo colinandcaitlinsmommy, I LOVE Portland. Oregon is the most beautiful place I have visited. We had a wonderful time when we visited - playing in the snow on Mount Hood one day in May and paddling in the ocean on the beach near Seaside the next. Lucky you

I think MamaApronstrings is back on British shores

Oh, how rude of me - Hi Tinpot & Ali

Hey, Ali - do you remember telling me about the chocolate & wine bar near you? We have one that just opened - it does cheese, chocolate and wine. Yum yum x

alipiggie · 06/06/2007 03:35

OOOOO lucky you. Sigh. We're under chickenpox watch here and it's stymieing my social life at the moment as my usual babysitter's just entering 2 trimester so don't want to risk any contagion there .

mamama · 06/06/2007 03:43

Oh no - chicken pox

Hope you have plenty of Calamine, just in case. And lots of indoor activities...

I'm scratching already!

Yeah, it is great to be back here, let me tell you. So how's Chicago? I have been to many states, but kind of skipped the midwest. DH might have to go to Chicago for 6 months for training, and we know nothing about it whatsoever. (We've planned vacations there twice, but I kept getting pregnant and due around the time we were going)

Sorry to hear about the chickenpox. Not fun.

I like this thread, finally one I can be a part of.

mamama · 06/06/2007 04:52

Ok, here's my bit on Chicago - have a look and let me know if you have any questions. It's a great city but best to visit in the warmer months. The only problem then is the humidity...

You MUST try the cheese & caramel popcorn if you come!

SofiaAmes · 06/06/2007 07:20

Oooo, Earlybird - you won't be far from me really. Well, quite a long way, but not in American terms!

Califrau, remember Erie is the back of beyond - I think chickenpox probably snuck in when no-one was looking. We're not allowed it in Chicago. DS was vaccinated at his 12 month appointment, poor little lamb. lol at the photo of a very folorn spotty DS1 & spotty Jim Rag Doll as evidence!

Welcome also to SophiaAmes, SittingBull & Sunchowder (I never see her posting). Chitownlady is about somewhere too...

I am sure there are others.

And, while I have you all here, where on earth can I buy ready to roll icing over here? (Yes, I STILL need it)

LAtyke · 06/06/2007 21:47

hello -from Redondo beach, ca. There are a couple of other MNrs here too. Chicken pox is definitely not allowed here either.

mamama · 07/06/2007 04:47

Making it, Califrau?

I think I'll just make the normal butter icing stuff and bung that on the top of the cake. (I'm making a cow/ farmyard cake and the original plan required roll out icing. I have now conceded to green colored butter-type icing)

Hello to LAtyke

There is quite a gang of us over here now!

OP posts:
alipiggie · 07/06/2007 04:52

Back of beyond ho ho ho. And I was going to tell you where you could be ready roll icing . Na sucks won't now. Yep we've been vaccinated now too - me as well for the Green card vaccine. Seeing as how it wasn't available in the UK when my two had their first lot of vaccinations we didn't have it then and according to the Dr's here it's only 80% effective lol. But the kid that has it - guess what wasn't vaccinated he ho.

Anyway, ready roll icing - Michaels.

So are you all jealous I'm having my Stretch Limo ride to see The Police then

nannyk · 07/06/2007 04:54

I'm in Boston, MA

mamama · 07/06/2007 05:01

Ooo, Ali... the police. How exciting Mrs Soon-to-be-Birthday-Girl!!

Will have a look in Michaels, Ali - I need to buy yarn anyway. Think it may be an expensive trip. Thanks for the tip!

Hello Nannyk - I haven't emailed you for a while. Hope you are ok over in Boston.
