Does anyone have any recent experiences of Kings Fertility for IVF and other fertility treatment? And in particular of Dr Ippokratis Sarris?

Just got our PGT-A update…we got one euploid. Obviously would have loved more but am really pleased to have got one as that’s probably still over the odds to get 1/6 at my age. We’ve got a follow up consult phone call later in the week so we’ll make a plan going forwards but I imagine we’ll do another EC to try and get one or two more in the bank before going for transfer. Interestingly, the admin team said to my partner when he called to book the consult phone call that if we do have another EC and don’t need to change any details, we wouldn’t need another nurses consent apt…so that would cut down the time frame which would be good!

Hope everyone else is doing ok @Nina861 and @sirensong

Nina861 · 18/05/2026 15:04

That's fantastic news @Cornwall1988! 🎉
Did they give you a breakdown of the other blastos as well?
It'd be great if you didn't have to go through the whole admin again!

Cornwall1988 · 18/05/2026 15:10

Thank you @Nina861! Well they ended up calling my partner and not me as I often can’t pick up at work. I think they just told him that the other 5 didn’t have the correct number of chromosomes but said I could phone back if I wanted more details. Tbh though I don’t think I’ll call back as I guess it doesn’t really matter which chromosomes were missing?!

We’ve got our follow up on Weds so will ask more questions then and make a plan going forwards. Yes would be a bonus not to have to wait for another nurses consent apt so we could get started next month!

Nina861 · 18/05/2026 16:01

Agree @Cornwall1988 - the important thing is that you have one. I was just curious as to whether they go into a lot of detail/full report when giving you the results.
Hope your follow up on Wed goes well and you get to start round 2 ASAP.

sirensong · 18/05/2026 16:45

@Cornwall1988 getting a euploid at 43 is rare and fantastic, congrats. You are pretty much exactly on the 15% age stat, but you managed to get there in one round rather than across several like many others. Definitely no extra consents needed just for another retrieval (I did back to back).

@Nina861 they tell you whether it was a mosaic, monosomy or trisomy aneuploid or complex abnormal. They also let you know the chromosomes impacted. It's worth keeping a record of these in case any patterns suggest a need for karyotyping or origin of aneuploidy testing.

Nina861 · 18/05/2026 16:48

That's super interesting @sirensong, thank you for the tip!

Cornwall1988 · 18/05/2026 19:21

Thanks @Nina861 and @sirensong, relieved to know we won’t have to have the potential delay of another consent and yes fingers crossed we can start round 2 asap. I think I’ll email to ask for a break down of our PGT-A results.

When you do back to back ECs @sirensong, do you need to have a month in between them? I.e from withdrawal bleed until your next period or do you literally get going again straight after your withdrawal bleed?

sirensong · 18/05/2026 20:39

@Cornwall1988 I switched from follicular start first round (day 2 of cycle) to luteal start (a few days after ovulation) and thereafter continued with luteal. This means I had a withdrawal bleed and then I started stimulation again the same cycle around day 20.

I did once have a scan to see if duostim (start stims again within days of retrieval with no wait for bleed) would work as I was in a rush ahead of needing surgery (plus age) but overall I was not considered a good candidate because of high follicle count.

Cornwall1988 · 19/05/2026 08:24

Thanks @sirensong, interesting at how many different stages they can schedule STIMS! How are you doing with everything now?

sirensong · 19/05/2026 08:37

@Cornwall1988 had my surgery, waited months to heal fully and now today I have my nurse consent call to line up a transfer!

Cornwall1988 · 19/05/2026 08:58

Oh gosh, sounds like you’ve had to be very patient! Will keep everything crossed for you for your upcoming transfer!

Cornwall1988 · 19/05/2026 09:42

Random question but was looking at the supplements on Zita West and wondered whether it’s worth taking a probiotic - meant to help vaginal health and microbiome balance. I do have kefir and Greek yoghurt daily - do you have any thoughts on the world of probiotics @sirensong?! Or maybe only worth doing if an issue is detected after an investigation.

sirensong · 19/05/2026 09:59

@Cornwall1988 yes, it's worth taking optibac for women. Not for egg quality but for transfer. I did EMMA/ ALICE despite the consultants pretty much rolling their eyes, and knowing antibiotic intervention doesn't make much difference (because I had time to kill) and they said almost nobody has optimal levels of the good bacteria but I did (I take optibac).

Cornwall1988 · 19/05/2026 10:08

Yeah I guess if it’s something that could be a potential issue but won’t cause any harm, it might be worth doing. I also thought the same about the ERA test…(when we get closer to transfer). I imagine they wouldn’t recommend it unless you have a couple of failed transfers but I’d rather increase the odds of the first transfer working rather than wait for it potentially not to work!

Cornwall1988 · 19/05/2026 10:11

With the probiotic, would you say to start whenever or not worth doing until say the month before transfer?

sirensong · 19/05/2026 10:25

@Cornwall1988 I think fine to start whenever. I started 3 months ago. Less pressing if you have multiple retrievals planned. Do you have a particular number you're considering?

I didn't do ERA as that one is definitely less relevant if doing natural rather than medicated transfer. Do you have regular cycles?

Cornwall1988 · 19/05/2026 10:43

we’re thinking no more than three EC to try and get another euploid or two if we’re lucky. Yes, normally have regular cycles.

Nina861 · 19/05/2026 10:46

Hi @Cornwall1988 just about your question yesterday about doing back to back EC - I spoke to the consultant today to go through my failed IVF results and next steps.
She said that if I wanted to, I could start round 2 directly on the next cycle, without the need to wait and with no nurses appointment/forms - just the usual baseline scan.

Cornwall1988 · 19/05/2026 11:36

Thanks @Nina861, that’s really good to know! Do you think you’ll start again next month?

Nina861 · 19/05/2026 13:35

@Cornwall1988 honestly, although I originally thought of doing back to back, now I'm in 2 minds about it. We are considering a DNA fragmention test for my husband, mainly to see whether there might be an element of that which might have contributed to my MC a couple of years ago and low fertilisation rate this cycle. The test results take around 10 days to arrive.
The consultant also asked whether we still want to do PGTA or opt for a fresh transfer as with my low number of follicles, I might not have the luxury of testing even just 2 embryos so we'd need to balance the risks of doings PGTA vs transfer.
So lots to think about really - maybe a month "off" might not be a bad idea but I don't know which way to go yet.

Cornwall1988 · 19/05/2026 18:39

Sounds like you’ve got a lot to think about @Nina861, hard making decisions! I guess if the fragmentation test only takes 10 days for results then that wouldn’t delay you too much which sounds good.
I was also a bit torn when asked if we would want to do a fresh transfer if we only had a small number of embryos. I never really fully understood how much of a likelihood it might be that an embryo might self-correct or how great the risk of PGT-A might be in terms of extracting cells/freezing/thawing. We decided against in the end as thought if an embryo implanted but then miscarried after say a couple of months, it would set the whole process back a lot which at my age is a significant chunk on the timeline! Still you hear of plenty of people though who don’t test and get lucky so there’s always that chance!

Cornwall1988 · 20/05/2026 12:36

Just had our docs consultation and all good to go again next cycle. They said if we wanted to try anything to improve our drop down rate between day 3 and day 5 then we could try adding in growth hormone into our stims. She said it wouldn’t do any harm at any rate so may be worth trying (tho does add to cost of meds obvs). Anyone know anything about growth hormone?! I’m thinking to give it a go if it can’t do any harm.

sirensong · 20/05/2026 14:38

@Cornwall1988 it's interesting they proactively offered to use it, especially as your attrition was good. I asked about it a couple of times and they kind of pulled a face and said it made no difference and was only really used for DOR patients. However, why not? I don't remember it costing an outrageous amount in the context of everything else.

Cornwall1988 · 20/05/2026 14:43

Yes, I’ve asked for a second opinion - not that I’m necessarily doubtful but would find it reassuring to have the thinking confirmed by another doctor. Anyway, we’ve now paid up for cycle 2 so will enjoy a couple of weeks down time before things start up again! How did your consent go @sirensong? are you doing a medicated or natural FET?

sirensong · 20/05/2026 14:44

@Cornwall1988 all good re the consent appointment. I had to get a bit pushy to get a sooner slot as they originally offered the end of June.

Natural modified (use your own cycle but potentially use a trigger shot and then support with extra progesterone). On track for the end of June.
