Does anyone have any recent experiences of Kings Fertility for IVF and other fertility treatment? And in particular of Dr Ippokratis Sarris?

We have just finished a round of IVF at Kings Fertility (I have no tubes hence reason for IVF). Very pleased with Kings - v smooth and care has been good. We are due to do a FET next month with one of our PGT tested embryos. Happy to answer any questions. Had different doctors each time we visited but that was not an issue for me. Good luck!

sirensong · 22/02/2026 12:21

@CIng what is your reason for doing IVF? They are fine so long as you will not be relying on anything experimental.

CIng · 22/02/2026 12:34

@Pregnant4456thanks so much for your reply. Pleased that you had such a good experience and keeping fingers crossed for you. In my case I am nearly 40 so considering IVF for age-related reasons (no guarantees of course). Is it standard to see different doctors when you visit or can you ask to see the same person?

@sirensongAge, really (approaching 40). Only recently started trying and conceived successfully within 5 months but sadly miscarried so considering my options. Do you have experience of Kings?

@CIng yes, I did back to back PGTA embryo banking rounds with them. They are a solid choice in terms of value/ results. Do you already know your hormone levels etc? Are you looking for a private or NHS clinic?

Pregnant4456 · 22/02/2026 13:43

@CIng - I think it’s standard to see different doctors. We had the same consultant for our initial consultation who did our egg collection and fresh transfer (which sadly failed) but I think that was a coincidence.

For all of the monitoring scans they are done by doctors who can amend your protocol rather than just a sonographer. I think it would be difficult to have the same doctor for every monitoring scan as it’s unpredictable on when you would need them until you start stims. Likewise, you have to have egg collection/transfer when your body is ready so hard to time that around the working pattern of a specific consultant.

I recon it would be easy though to ask for the same consultant to discuss next steps at the end of a IVF cycle as the one who initially discussed your medical plan with you - but you may have to wait slightly longer for their availability. If that makes sense!

CIng · 22/02/2026 16:51

@sirensong Looking for a private clinic. I have had some tests including a recent AMH test although I suspect that any clinic will want to re-run them all. If you don't mind me asking, what was your reason for doing IVF there?

@Pregnant4456 Thanks. That does make sense and I guess that you don't necessarily need to see the same consultant for every monitoring scan.

I’m also thinking of starting IVF with Kings so finding all the posts very useful here. Would love to hear from any others who have had experience or any ‘wish you had known before you started’ type things! Thank you :)

Bubbles14 · 28/02/2026 11:49

I’m at Kings too and hoping to start IVF next month, I’ve also found them really good except for the long wait for the nurse zoom appointment (this may have been partly due to Xmas though) I’d recommend watching Alex jones documentary filmed there, Dr Sarris is in it

SP2024 · 01/03/2026 08:55

We used kings for our nhs round in 2021 which was successful. Having a FET round now. They are good, I liked them a lot better than the first clinic we used.

Cornwall1988 · 01/03/2026 14:17

That’s great to hear @SP2024 and good luck for your FET.
Thanks for the recommendation of the Alex Jones documentary @Bubbles14 . Annoyingly it looks like it’s not available on so many streaming sites now but will try and watch some snippets here and there. Reassuring to hear you’ve found them to be good despite the long zoom wait as you said. Best of luck for next month and if you have any tips as you go along, would love to hear them

problematicpenguin · 18/03/2026 19:14

Just hopping on this post too as I think we are being referred to Kings through the NHS as my husband has azoospermia. Wondering if anyone knows roughly how long the wait list is there for starting treatment?

Cornwall1988 · 18/03/2026 19:48

@problematicpenguin We’ve just signed up privately with Kings (after having a fertility MOT with them) and it was about a 2 week lead time for the zoom consent appointment but all the other initial apts seem fairly readily available. So we’re basically having the next month to do all the pre-IvF appointments and then starting with treatment the following month. Hope that helps :)

How is everyone else getting on? I’m impatient to get started now so would love to hear any first hand experiences if anyone is happy to share.

Pregnant4456 · 18/03/2026 21:52

The waiting to start treatment is the worst bit I have found! Particularly as I have had a very long cycle after egg collection at the beginning of Feb so the wait to start our frozen transfer has felt continuous!

We have just finished having our consent appointments for our FET next month after PGT testing. I have my baseline scan on Monday booked and looked to start our transfer protocol in 2 weeks.

I have continued to be pleased with Kings. Best of luck for everyone!

sirensong · 18/03/2026 22:20

@Pregnant4456 how does the FET consent appointment differ to the original one? I also need to schedule one.

zirafica · 19/03/2026 09:05

Had my IVF through the NHS at king’s and absolutely loved the experience. We opted for PGT-A testing and am now 5 months preggo with our first transfer. Yes the nurse consent appointments were the longest wait but I never failed to get an appointment when it came to specific timings in my cycle. Everyone from the nurses to the doctors was lovely and supportive and I’d highly recommend it! I went because I was 39 and didn’t want to miss my chance to have a baby. No underlying problems!

Cornwall1988 · 19/03/2026 14:27

So glad you’ve had a good experience with them so far @Pregnant4456 and can imagine the waiting during a long cycle must have been really annoying! Do you always have to leave a cycle in between egg collection and FET? (We’re having PGTA testing too). Though writing that, I guess it makes sense as you need to do the 5 days or so after egg collection to see what embryos are made and then send off for about 2 weeks. Guess I will have to learn to be patient!

So reassuring to hear that you had a good experience too @zirafica and many congrats on your pregnancy! We also don’t have any underlying issues…apart from me being 43 - so just hoping for the best! I conceived naturally at 41 but recently had a miscarriage which prompted our decision for IVF.

Do you mind me asking you both how you found stims and egg collection? I know everyone will experience these differently but always good to hear first hand experience.

zirafica · 19/03/2026 17:00

@Cornwall1988 both were easy for me! The biggest problem was getting used to the needles but after that it was a breeze. I had 24 eggs harvested and 14 fertilised/got to day 5 blastos. There was some concern over ohss because of the high number but didn’t happen. Egg collection and FET were both smooth and painless. Honestly nothing to complain about at all!

and yes, you need to leave at least one cycle, it could even be two between egg collection and FET. You first have the collection, then a post collection bleed (about 7-10 days after the ec) and then after that your first “normal bleed” (usually your normal cycle time + a few days) and it was only with my next bleed after that that we started the FET process - so roughly 2/3 months after the egg collection (depending on your cycle length). My EC was end of August, post EC bleed early sept, first normal bleed after that end of oct and the one where we started the fet end of November!

sirensong · 19/03/2026 18:30

@Cornwall1988 I am also at King's. I was personally in a great mood during stimulation - sky high oestrogen seems to agree with me - but it did get more uncomfortable the last few days before retrieval. The most difficult part for me was the gut churning turmoil waiting for results.

Are you seeing any specific doctors? And do you know your AMH and AFC?

Cornwall1988 · 19/03/2026 18:44

Thanks @zirafica for the heads up on cycle/s between EC and FET - hadn’t factored that in! And so pleased the process was so seamless for you, that’s amazing. When you have EC, do they tell you how many they collected after the op or do you need to wait until the next day?

@sirensong yes I’d heard that stims can be a bit uncomfortable/bloating towards the end but not heard about the potential good moods - I’ll be hoping for that side effect! So far we’ve seen Dr Freya for a consultation and initial testing who was lovely. AMH was 9.4 and AFC 12 which I think is fairly good for my age but obviously there’s no accounting for egg quality.

Pregnant4456 · 19/03/2026 21:05

So I found STIMS very straight forward and easy. Didn’t really have many side affects apart from a bit of bloating and recovered very well despite getting 19 eggs with the clinic being concerned about OHSS.

I didn't mind the injections, did them all myself and had very little pain from them - didn’t use numbing cream or ice packs or anything. Although I have had injections previously for other fertility related issues so that may have helped.

So we had egg collection early Feb, managed to get 12x5 Day Blasts so decided to do one as a fresh transfer which sadly failed. So I came on my period after the egg collection cycle on the 19th Feb. The cycle after egg collection (the one I am currently on) is looking like being 42 days long as I have ovulated so so late - which is common after a round of IVF with egg collection. So you may need to bear that in mind. It’s VERY frustrating when you just want to get on with a FET.

We are doing our FET on the cycle coming up next (so the one following my first standard cycle post egg collection round)- but I think we were very lucky to be able to get the nurses consent appointment to be able to fit the timings in.

I think we got a cancelled nurse consultation - the tricky thing is they won’t let you book the nurses consent appointment until you have had your appointment with your consultant to discuss your plan and if the nurses consent appointment date is late in your cycle - you would then need to wait for the following cycle to have your baseline scan. In short - they won’t let you have your baseline scan before your nurses consent appointment which is frustrating when the timings don’t work out!

I hope that helps! X

zirafica · 19/03/2026 21:48

@Pregnant4456IS VERY CORRECT with the annoying timings with nurse consent calls!!! This almost delayed our FET but luckily my cycle was a few days longer so worked out ok. As someone mentioned the nurse appointments are the most difficult thing as for some reason they always take AGES - 4/6 weeks I think it was for me on the NHS!
I think…. They told us same day how many they retrieved and then next day told us how many were mature and how many fertilised? Or maybe same day they say retrieved and mature and then next day fertilised? Sorry I don’t remember exactly!

Pregnant4456 · 20/03/2026 07:11

Oh I forgot that question! We got told how many eggs after the procedure and how many where mature and how many fertilised the next day.

One word of warning - I would agree with the consultant that they wait to tell you how many eggs until you have been concious for half an hour.

i woke up and was in tears 2 minutes later ADAMANT that I had ovulated early and they only got 3 eggs. Turns out I was imagining the whole thing but didn’t believe my husband when he told me!

Cornwall1988 · 20/03/2026 10:59

@Pregnant4456 thats so funny (tho I’m sure not at the time!) about imagining the 3 eggs. Good to know to wait a bit before heading the outcome! Thanks so much for sharing your experience of STIMS and the timing for the FET, that sounds really annoying! But am v glad I know so I can adjust my expectations around when things might happen. Interestingly, though it turns out we won’t need to do this, when I asked them to check with the clinical team if there was any flexibility at all on the baseline scan being days 18-25, (we were going to be away that week for our wedding), the clinical team replied and said it could also be done day 1-3 of the cycle your treatment starts. Might be useful to know for future in case there’s ever a tight turnaround again.

It sounds as though you guys had a really promising result in terms of egg collections and fertilisations. Did you have a high AFC/AMH to start with? No worries if you’d rather not share of course.

con

Pregnant4456 · 20/03/2026 11:08

Yes so both instances I have had my baseline scan and I had not ovulated yet so then I came in for a cycle 1-3 scan. I think ideally they do it 18-25 but have other options.

This cycle after egg collection as I was worried about my cycle stalling so they are having me in for a second baseline scan which is next week which is going to be on like day 35 - but I was just worried that the drugs from egg collection had stoped me ovulating all together.

My AFC is normally around 20 and my AMH was 12.5 when it was last checked last summer!

@Cornwall1988 - when are you expecting to start STIMS. Do you know what medication they are prescribing?
