Does anyone have any recent experiences of Kings Fertility for IVF and other fertility treatment? And in particular of Dr Ippokratis Sarris?

@Cornwall1988i don’t think I was actually told what either of those were for me! I don’t think I ever bothered asking as I remember even on the first baseline scan they were like oh you’ve got 27 eggs so it wasn’t something I was concerned about? I know women here mention it a lot but it was never a point of discussion with me and the doctors, no idea why, and I never bothered to ask!

Cornwall1988 · 20/03/2026 12:47

@Pregnant4456 ah I see, yes good they have other options other than the 18-25 window. Yes must be a worry when you don’t know when you’re going to ovulate again. Hopefully, like you say, it’s just a slight delay which might be expected the cycle after an EC anyway and hopefully it will come soon! That’s great r.e your AFC and AMH :) I had similar numbers when mine was checked a few years ago (pre-first baby) but obviously they’ve gone down a bit now I’m older.

So from next week, we’ll be starting the blood/urine tests, nurse zoom, PGTA consultation etc. Baseline scan in 3.5 weeks (tho I also had one as part of the fertility MOT type apt a few weeks back) and then start STIMS in about 4 weeks if all goes to plan. Would have liked to have started this cycle but was too late for scheduling all the pre-treatment apts. Not sure what meds I’ll be taking - I imagine they decide that at the baseline scan?

Cornwall1988 · 20/03/2026 12:49

@zirafica thank you for sharing :) Yes I guess that’s probably all they and you needed to know if everything was looking good, no need to question the specifics!

Cornwall1988 · 20/03/2026 14:04

Just double checked the numbers on my medical report and AFC was 15 so better than I had remembered!

Also, saw they had listed my potential meds if all goes to plan… GF 300iu & MF 75iu, fyremadel, dual trigger, FAE for PGT-A.

Nina861 · 24/03/2026 05:55

I am also due to start a NHS IVF cycle with King's so very glad I found this thread!
All the staff have been great so far and I did manage to watch the Alex Jones doc a couple of years ago which really helped getting my head around the process. It's on UKTV play.
@Cornwall1988 it seems we are on a similar timeframe - I'm doing blood/urine and baseline tests in April :)

Cornwall1988 · 24/03/2026 06:18

Thanks for the tip on where to watch the documentary @Nina861 , will try that! Yes seems like we’re on the same timeline - we’ve got our initial tests/consultations over the next few weeks so hoping egg collection would be end of April if all goes well. How are you feeling about everything? I’m feeling impatient already to get started so know I am going to have to be more zen if I can as its a lengthy process!

Nina861 · 24/03/2026 07:26

@Cornwall1988 I'm also feeling quite impatient to start but also know it's a long process full of mixed emotions. I'm doing ICSI with PGTA which adds another 1-2 months I seem to understand so I'm also trying to pace myself with the emotions😅

Cornwall1988 · 24/03/2026 08:26

Yes it’s hard looking ahead and knowing how much patience will be required and so much uncertainty but it’s all part of it I guess so I’ll try to practice accepting these things when I can! I’m also doing PGT-A (IVF), hopefully worth the extra time but annoying it adds another month or two on!

Nina861 · 24/03/2026 17:23

It will all be worth it in the end and hope you get to watch the Alex Jones documentary - I found it reassuring.
Not sure about anyone else but since I started telling a handful of people about starting IVF, I realised I am surrounded by people who have gone through it and either are pregnant or had babies recently and I had no idea they had IVF.
Makes you realise how common this is.

Cornwall1988 · 24/03/2026 21:14

I’ve just finished the second episode - I’m hooked! So interesting to see the process, especially being filmed at Kings.
That’s lovely to hear you’ve been able to connect with others who also had IVF, I’m always a bit torn on whether to tell people but I suppose the more open you are, the more it helps people to feel comfortable talking about fertility issues which is always going to be a good thing.

Sparkle2308 · 24/03/2026 23:38

Hello ladies,
I've just been reading this correspondence as im considering Kings for IVF.
Unfortunately my amh is much lower at 2.7:(

What do you mean by the nurse appointments that take a long time?

Thank you x

Cornwall1988 · 25/03/2026 05:40

@Sparkle2308 Not that I know much about IVF but from reading other mumsnet threads, have read of lots of others with low AMh who have success with treatment. I think also if you are sub 40yrs, the better chance of quality of eggs so higher chance of success too so try not to be too disheartened by lower AMH.

Before starting treatment, you need to have an hour zoom call with nurses to go through all the legal consent but it can take a little while until they have availability for one of these. Mine was a 2 week wait for the nurses appointment.

Nina861 · 25/03/2026 06:32

@Cornwall1988 it's a good show - wish it was more "mainstream" like One Born Every Minute.
I haven't told a lot of people about IVF tbh (mainly my boss at work so I could get some flexibility on taking time off and a handful of close friends and family members) - not because of stigma but rather because their emotions also come into play, but you're right, the more normalised it is, the more open people are to talk about it.
@Sparkle2308 don't get too worried about low AHM. As Cornwall says, so many with low reserve of even 0.X go through a successful IVF. It's not an indicator of success.

Cornwall1988 · 25/03/2026 10:32

Yes, I’m thinking the same as you @Nina861, the more people you tell, the more you’ll feel like you need to update along the way which could be difficult emotionally. So far, have told a few close friends though I’ll be telling my boss too so I can have time for the appointments.

Nina861 · 09/04/2026 16:52

Hi @Cornwall1988 just checking all your tests went well? Will you be starting this month?
I'm having blood/urine, consult and baseline in the next 2 weeks - big mix of emotions here!

Cornwall1988 · 09/04/2026 20:13

Hi @Nina861 - I was thinking of reaching out to see how you were doing. We’ve had all the initial appointments now so it’s baseline scan on Monday and then if all is well, stims should start in the few days after that if my period comes when I think it should - so it’s all getting closer! Luckily I’ve been on holiday this week which has been good for completely getting my mind off things and having a change of scene…maybe not so good for the healthy eating tho!

I also had a mock ET last week. They recommended it due to a slight complication with the surgery following my miscarriage in January. Luckily that all went smoothly, so nice to have had a feel for what that might feel like if I get to that stage. The doctor was very empathetic and reassuring so it was much better/less uncomfortable than I was expecting!

How are you feeling about it all?

Cornwall1988 · 09/04/2026 20:16

How are you getting on @Pregnant4456?

Nina861 · 09/04/2026 20:38

@Cornwall1988 aww I'm so pleased, it all sounds very positive and great that you got to have the mock ET in a way so you'll be more relaxed when the time comes.
I wonder if they'll give you the medications right after the baseline or how that works? How are you feeling about doing the injections?
A little time away can only be good - best to have a relaxed mind over perfectly healthy diet I think 😉
I'm having blood/urine tests on Monday afternoon and then baseline on the 23rd. Hopefully all goes to plan and I can then start the week after. Eek, it feels so real now!

Cornwall1988 · 09/04/2026 20:49

@Nina861 yes, I think you’re right. It can be easy to become a bit fixated on diet, etc so hopefully a bit of time out will make me more relaxed going into things and ready to start back on being healthy!

When we had our nurse zoom call, they said that the plan would be to get the meds straight after the baseline scan and the nurses would demo how to administer. After the zoom call, they also sent through some videos on administering the drugs. I’m feeling a little daunted by that but not too bad…my partner is happy to do them for me if needed which is good! I don’t mind needles but always find it easier if someone else can do them for me! I’m probably feeling more daunted by the unknown of how I’ll react to stims, egg collection, etc but trying to stay positive/not think about it, lol!

It’s great you’ve got your appointments coming up soon too. Feels good to get things started I think? And the further along the process I guess the less daunting the steps might feel as we learn more about them.

Cornwall1988 · 09/04/2026 20:52

@Nina861 just clocked, we’ll both be in on Monday afternoon!

Nina861 · 09/04/2026 21:16

@Cornwall1988 oh yeah! what are the chances?! I'll be there at 2pm for blood tests, what time are you there?
It'll be a big day for you but exciting! Great that your partner could do the injections. My husband I think would be ok too if I couldn't but hope I can manage. Let's see!
I'm mentally prepared for a bit of an emotional rollercoster post egg collection and during stims it's seems it's mainly bloating and headache but we'll just have to see howour bodies respond - others I know said they had no issues at all so hopefully we are lucky 🤞

Cornwall1988 · 09/04/2026 22:00

@Nina861 Yes fingers crossed we’re lucky the stims side effects! One person said they made them feel really happy - that’s a good side effect! I guess if they can give you mood swings then it could be a good mood swing rather than a bad one!

My baseline is 2:40pm on Monday but our train will probably get us there around 2:20 so we may cross paths!

Nina861 · 09/04/2026 22:05

@Cornwall1988 a happy mood swing would be fabulous! 🤞🤩
Ah amazing! We might cross paths indeed - how funny! I'll let you know what i'm wearing on Monday. If you see me, feel free to come up and say hi!

Pregnant4456 · 10/04/2026 05:42

@Cornwall1988 I am good. Although an anxious wait for me - it’s been a tough few days. I am at the clinic today for my first scan for my frozen transfer. CD9 and they are checking to see if my follicle is large enough so we are close to being able to trigger and schedule the transfer. I have longer cycles so have taken some medication to hopefully allow me to ovulate around a normal time.

I am not very hopeful that I am close to ovulation so feeling a bit down about it. I may also be in the clinic on Monday for another scan, but scans during treatment are the AM when baseline scans are the PM so I will probably miss you guys.

Best of luck with the baseline scans/bloods @Cornwall1988 and @Nina861

Nina861 · 10/04/2026 08:35

@Pregnant4456 I can imagine how anxious you must feel but try to keep positive. If you're not "on track" they might just adjust the dose of medication and it could be a whole different story if you do a scan on Monday morning.
Will be thinking of you today - keep us updated if you like 🤗
