Does anyone have any recent experiences of Kings Fertility for IVF and other fertility treatment? And in particular of Dr Ippokratis Sarris?

Just got the Day 3 update. We only have 2 little embryos as the other 5 failed to fetilize, however so far those 2 are progressing well with 12 and 11 cells each. Let's see what Thursday brings 🤞

Cornwall1988 · 12/05/2026 11:28

Glad you’re doing well recovery wise and yes the waiting is definitely the hardest! Good luck for your calls and I guess if another round was needed, you’re right, at least we know exactly what to expect now!

We sent all 6 of our blasts off…I know it’s such a lottery how many might come back euploid so prepared for the possibility of needing more rounds so we’ll see! I guess even if we did say get 1 euploid, it might be a good idea to do another EC round so we have back up in case that one doesn’t implant. So many unknowns!

Nina861 · 12/05/2026 14:57

Keeping everything crossed for your 6 blasts and that you get at least a few euploid so you don't need a 2nd round🤞🤞
I started already on a low number of follicles due to my age so I always thought I was likely going to need 2 rounds to bank a few but that's ok. I was/am prepared for that - my husband I think is a bit more surprised by the attrition and that not all mature eggs fertilised.

Cornwall1988 · 12/05/2026 18:44

@Nina861 thank you and yes fingers crossed the two you have will continue to blast. While there are obviously influencing factors, I think there also has to be a lot of luck involved too so fingers crossed for a lucky outcome for us both!

I sent my last reply while rushing at work so hadn’t seen your day 3 update. It’s tough when you see the drop down rate so can understand your husband’s surprise but I guess it’s just one of the frustrating things about the process! Reassuring that your day 3 embryos have a good number of cells though. Hope the next 2 days fly by for you and you get your day 5 update before you know it!

Nina861 · 12/05/2026 19:02

@Cornwall1988 thank you! 🤞for us both!
If there's something IVF teaches you is that you have no control of anything - you just have to let nature due its thing and trust the process.
We shall wait and hope.

Nina861 · 14/05/2026 12:26

Just had a call from King's with a Day 5 update and it's not a good one unfortunately.
The development of the 2 embryos seem to have stopped or slowed down as they are not yet to blasto phase which they should have expected by now. They're going to keep an eye on them and call back tomorrow with another update but it's not looking good this time.

Cornwall1988 · 14/05/2026 18:20

So sorry to hear that @Nina861. Must be really disappointing:( I hope you are doing OK. It’s a pretty intense process with a lot of physical and emotional input. Hopefully they might be able to make some changes if you do another round. I know the first round is often seen more as a trial but doesn’t make it easier!

Nina861 · 14/05/2026 19:44

Thank you @Cornwall1988 , i'm ok I think, just a bit deflated - I was hoping for a more positive update as on Day 3 they were doing great.
Anyway, hopefully they can use the data to change the meds or have a longer protocol or trigger later maybe. I did think I probably could have waited another couple of days to trigger as most of the follicles were not in the optimal part of the chart but then 5 out of 7 were mature so it seems the actual fertilization was what let us down as only 2 of the 5 fertilised.
Oh well... onwards and upwards.

How are you doing? Only a few days to your PGTA results, right? Keeping all crossed for you!

sirensong · 14/05/2026 20:20

@Nina861 if your embryos are at morula they still have a chance. Low fertilisation could still reflect a level of cytoplasmic immaturity even if they were MII eggs. I pushed mine to go larger after a poor first round.

Nina861 · 14/05/2026 20:40

Thanks @sirensongThat's a bit reassuring. The embryologist didn't sound very positive over the phone today but I guess we just have to see if they are just slow growing embryos or have stopped developing.
I will push for a little more time next round. It might not have made a difference but maybe a couple more days might have been better.

Cornwall1988 · 14/05/2026 21:17

@Nina861 yes I’m sure they’ll have some things they can try to improve for a second round. It’s hard that it’s all so complex as a patient to understand the different variables and options.

Well, our cells would have been sent off for testing 2 weeks next Tuesday so I guess that’s the earliest we’ll hear but of course could be later in the week or even the week after. I was feeling really impatient yesterday but have chilled a bit today! So hard not to go rabbit holes of looking up stats or anecdotal stories when of course everyone is individual!

We’ve booked a follow up consult for 28th so not sure there will be time to do anything (either FET or next EC) next month - might have to be the month after as the nurses consent appointments seem to have such a long waiting list!

Nina861 · 14/05/2026 21:31

@Cornwall1988 I'm finding waiting for updates the hardest part. Stims was a breeze - it's the waiting and the rabbit holes, forums etc that's the worst so I can imagine these 2 weeks are tough in that sense. Hopefully you hear by early next week and your meeting with the consultant is positive.
Nurses consent always takes ages - who knows why but maybe the timing will work in your favour.

Cornwall1988 · 15/05/2026 08:00

Thanks @Nina861, yes so annoying the nurses appointments take so long. You’d imagine for a second round the process would be quicker as your consents say for egg collection are unlikely to change and you know what you’re signing up for.

You’re right, the waiting is definitely the hardest part. Hopefully whatever happens today, you can have a bit of a mental break if possible from things while the admin process gears up again. I know I find it hard to keep my mind occupied so I’m going to book in some swims or catching up with friends this weekend to try and stay busy.

Nina861 · 15/05/2026 11:57

@Cornwall1988 keeping busy always help. Keeping all crossed for you!

I just had a final update and the embryologist confirmed the 2 embryos didn't make it to blasto so the round has failed unfortunately.
I have a call with the consultant next week as a follow up to see what we could do differently going into the 2nd round.
Quite sad but hopefully round 2 has a better outcome.

Cornwall1988 · 15/05/2026 14:14

So sorry to hear that @Nina861, so disappointing. I’m glad you were able to get a follow up reasonably quickly and hopefully there will be changes they can make for next time. Do you think you’d like to do the next one asap or take a break? Hope you manage to get some R&R time over the weekend to distract yourself a bit.

Nina861 · 15/05/2026 14:32

Thank you @Cornwall1988 I'm keen to have round 2 asap to be honest. I'm turning 40 at the end of October so I'm conscious time is not on my side from an egg quality perspective and NHS funding. I imagine it'll be August/Sept by the time I get to start again if I have to wait until I have a normal cycle and go through nurse consent again etc.
Let's see what the consultant says on Tuesday.
In the meantime, I have a chilled weekend ahead of me with friends and family which is what I probably need.

Cornwall1988 · 15/05/2026 21:05

@Nina861 yep that makes sense. I’d want to do a round 2 asap too if we need to…though I have a few years on you at 43! Do you take Ubiquinol? Supposed to be good for egg quality though you may be on that already!

Anyway, I hope you have a good weekend enjoying time with friends and family.

Nina861 · 15/05/2026 22:53

@Cornwall1988 so many people have great results past 40 and you had some fantastic numbers at EC already! I'm keeping all fingers and toes crossed for you 🤞

I am not on Ubiquinol actually. I did look into it and my husband has it in his multivitamin but I was told by a few doctors to mainly focus on Vit D, folic acid and Omega 3 but maybe it'd help to add that in.. I'll ask on Tuesday again.
May I ask which brand are you using and how many mg? There are so many brands out there!

sirensong · 16/05/2026 09:20

@Nina861 I took 200mg coenzyme q10 three times a day with food. Holland and Barrett own brand almost always have multibuy deals, though it is still expensive. King's sort of shrugged ahead of taking it but they said to carry on when I got better results. It's not necessarily going to move the dial hugely but does have some evidence behind it, unlike most supplements.

@Cornwall1988 whatever happens with PGTA results this round, the number one indicator for eventual success over 40 is being able to make a lot of blastocysts. And you made way more than average.

Cornwall1988 · 16/05/2026 09:29

Thank you @Nina861! fingers crossed!

For Ubiquinol, when I was ttc at 41 for my first, I read ‘It Starts with an Egg’ and tried to follow some of the recommendations there in terms of diet and taking Ubiquinol. At the time I think I just found a random one on Amazon but made sure it was Ubiquinol rather than the other form. This time round a friend recommended Ovum to me as she’d had it recommended by her fertility clinic. It’s quite pricy but also contains a few of the others recommended in that book. I think basically a medical professional won’t recommended anything not proven to work but my thinking was if there’s a suggestion it might help and can’t do any harm, then I may as well give it a go!

Cornwall1988 · 16/05/2026 09:34

Oh and for dosage, Ovum contains 200mg but it’s a form that’s supposed to be equivalent to 600mg. Started that about 3.5 months ago and then thought I’d throw a bit more at it just before stating ivf(!) so also started a Zita West one.

Nina861 · 16/05/2026 10:00

Thank you both @sirensong and @Cornwall1988.
I'll look into both options/brands. Did you have any bad side effects? I was reading it could upset your stomach.
I also read "it starts with an egg" when I first started TTC but I found it quite overwhelming and to be honest I was becoming a little paranoid which wasn't healthy.

sirensong · 16/05/2026 10:07

@Nina861 not known for adverse side effects. Maybe confusing with metformin? (which I also take without problems but some people have issues)

Nina861 · 16/05/2026 10:42

Thanks @sirensong. No I think it's ubiquinol but I think like with everything it depends on how your body responds. I'll definitely look into it more though.

Cornwall1988 · 16/05/2026 12:04

Thank you @sirensong, that’s reassuring for sure.

@Nina861 ive heard that too but never had any side effects. I definitely get what you mean about finding all the advice out there overwhelming. I tried to just pick the things that I thought were do-able and wouldn’t add too much stress.
