Does anyone have any recent experiences of Kings Fertility for IVF and other fertility treatment? And in particular of Dr Ippokratis Sarris?

I’m private and have seen different doctors so far which has been a positive as they’ve all had a different style but have seemed very good. Perhaps when reviewing this cycle, I might ask to see the one who I did my original consultation with though. How are you getting on @sirensong?

@Nina861 glad all went well with your scan and talk with the nurse. Did they reassure you about going abroad for a couple of days?

My scan went well thanks. 15 follicles measuring between 8-14mm tho 5 of those are at the lower end so will depend if they catch up with the main cohort in time for collection…and then you don’t want to overcook the larger ones so I guess it’s a delicate balance! Next scan on Friday and they said potentially collection on Monday or Tuesday. Quite exciting but also I’m always impatient to see into the future and find out what will be the end result!

How are you feeling about it all?

You know what - I forgot to ask in the end! So I will have to take a gamble... the app I use to track my cycle is usually quite spot on so fingers crossed there are no nasty surprises or we'll have to skip a month which I really don't want to do. But according to the app, it should be mid-next week so let's hope!
Seeing the meds in the fridge makes it all very real!

Great that you're progressing well and gosh, EC already next week - time is flying by - very exciting though!
I guess for us doing PGTA will be a while to get those results and then if all goes well, another 1-2 months until FET but still, it'll come very soon and it's hard to stop your mind racing.

Cornwall1988 · 22/04/2026 19:09

@Nina861 oh that sound like you have a good margin of error if you’re not due until mid-next week. And yes, it does all seem very real when you see the meds in the fridge! Hopefully being away for a few days will be a nice refresher before things get started.

Yes, it all seems to move quite quickly once you start meds and the scans. Good to have such regular scans so you don’t feel in limbo at any stage. I guess, like you say, the big wait will be for the PGTA results and then the FET (fingers crossed I get to that stage!). I guess at least it gives a chance for your body to have a bit of a reset after the collection meds, etc.

Nina861 · 22/04/2026 19:42

@Cornwall1988 yes, I'm back on Sunday so as long as Day 1 is not Friday or Sat, I'll be fine. It would be a short cycle which I don't usually have - let's hope!

It does indeed all move quite fast once you go through the nurses appointment/consent. The 2 big waits I think will be PGTA results and then the 2WW. Might be nice to have a couple of months as a break and reset, as you say!

I'm a private patient at King's and wondering how the NHS experience differs, if at all. Do you see a different consultant every single time or have a main doctor you check in with?

I had my fresh cycle through the NHS but have had FET cycles privately and it’s been the same experience whether NHS or private. I’ve not seen the same people with either but I haven’t asked to either.

We had private FET in January but it ended in a miscarriage at 9 weeks. I’m hoping to do another transfer in May, had a baseline scan today so now just waiting for my period to start…hopefully in the next week or two. They couldn’t be sure if I’d already ovulated or was about it as my cycle is obviously messed up

Cornwall1988 · 25/04/2026 19:50

So sorry to hear of your loss @SP2024 and best of luck for your next transfer. I also had a loss in January.

Just wondered whether I could ask how people have found egg collection? Mine is scheduled for next Tuesday. I think I’m mostly wanting to know if i’ll feel/remember anything from the procedure or if it will just seem like I’m asleep?! I know because of the position of one of my ovaries they are anticipating doing a bit of manipulating which might be uncomfortable so said they would take that into consideration when calculating my sedation so hoping it will just be like being asleep!

Also, I know everyone is different but how did you find recovery? Wondering whether I’ll be back to work the next day but I guess I can just see how I am. Thanks in advance!!

zirafica · 25/04/2026 22:29

@Cornwall1988 I found it super easy! Didn’t remember a thing, felt a bit bloated and tired after, was deffo ok for work the next day although if I remember correctly I was a bit sore for maybe 2-3 days after. But I work from home so different situation!

Cornwall1988 · 26/04/2026 08:33

Thanks @zirafica - good to know!

Pregnant4456 · 26/04/2026 11:57

Hey @Cornwall1988 Best of luck for Tuesday. I found egg collection fine - whole process was v smooth. I recovered absolutely fine despite high risk of OHSS. Was v tired the day of but worked the next day with no problems. Didn’t feel or remember a thing from the procedure. I would recommend agreeing with the consultant that there would be no discussion of number of eggs until you are fully awake just encase you get the wrong idea of how many you have got!

Clinic also checks in on you the days after to check you are all ok for OHSS. Best of luck - it’s a lot scarier than it actually is in reality xxx

Pregnant4456 · 26/04/2026 12:22

Oh @Cornwall1988 and ask the nurse for hot chocolate once you wake up. It worked wonders for me!

sirensong · 26/04/2026 13:04

@Cornwall1988 they'll be talking to you as they administer the sedative and the next thing you'll know is waking up in a bay and it's over. They had Taylor Swift blaring out last time as I went to sleep! One retrieval (I did back to back banking) I did slightly wake up as they were hoiking me up the bed and about to wheel me out and asked about numbers but then drifted back off. A bit tender afterwards and tired for the rest of the day but fine by the next day. Took about 10 days for bloating to fully subside (when withdrawal bleed happens). One retrieval I was given precautionary antibiotics because of physical manipulation to get ovary more accessible. Another I woke up on a drip because of higher egg numbers.

Embryology come round about 30 minutes later and give you a sheet with fertilisation method used, sperm parameters and egg numbers.

sirensong · 26/04/2026 13:12

(Fertilisation method that will be used, I should clarify. It won't have happened yet. They do this a few hours later and you'll be called the following morning to give you the numbers rundown on egg maturity, fertilised, morphology etc)

Cornwall1988 · 26/04/2026 14:55

Thanks so much @sirensong and @Pregnant4456. So useful to know how others found it and very reassuring. Love the tip about hot chocolate too - I will definitely be asking for one of those!

Hope you are both doing ok and hope you are doing OK with your post transfer wait @Pregnant4456 . Good weather at least to try and do some relaxing activities!

Nina861 · 26/04/2026 16:14

All the very best for Tuesday @Cornwall1988! Will be thinking about you and great to hear all the tips and experiences from everyone else - very reassuring!
Hope you are doing well @Pregnant4456 and you're distracting yourself a bit.
I'm going to be starting the injections this week 🤞

Pregnant4456 · 26/04/2026 17:40

Thanks guys! @Nina861 and @Cornwall1988 - I am now 6dp5dt so equivalent of 11DPO. Holding out testing still, probably only because there are none in my house!

Was very down Friday/Saturday AM as I was adamant it hadn’t worked but I have had cramping which I think I can compare to my other pregnancies yesterday PM and all day today. So back in the world of having hope. It really is a rollacoster - have found it a LOT more stressful and up and down than my fresh transfer in Feb which failed.

Planning on holding out to test until Thursday. OTD is Friday so only a day early.

Cornwall1988 · 26/04/2026 18:21

Thanks @Nina861 and @Pregnant4456 . Definitely feeling the bloat and tiredness today…hopefully that means the follicles are heading in the right direction…fingers crossed!

Good luck for your meds @Nina861. I’ve found them ok…have felt a bit spacey on them from time to time, low level nausea sometimes and increasingly tender stomach as time has gone on but nothing too hard to cope with. And of course everyone is different so you may not experience any of those things! Found the jabs easier when I held the ice pack on directly rather than through a teatowel and also when my partner used a softer squeeze to compress the skin. Will be quite strange not doing any more jabs tomorrow. You’ll have to keep us posted when you start!

@Pregnant4456 you’re being very self disciplined by not testing early, well done! I can imagine the cycles of hope and doubt must be so hard. I find them hard enough on a natural cycle let alone after an IVF cycle. The constant symptom spotting even when you try not to! Will keep everything crossed for you and hope you can keep as distracted as possible for the coming week and hopefully the days will fly by!

Nina861 · 26/04/2026 19:19

@Pregnant4456 probably best you have no tests at home haha I'll ensure I have none when it's my 2WW otherwise I might be tempted.
Let's keep positive! I'm keeping all fingers crossed for you - big week ahead indeed! 🤞🤞

Nina861 · 26/04/2026 19:27

@Cornwall1988 thank you for the tips! The side effects worry me a little but you never know until you start I guess so will just have to see.
I started spotting today, just as I came back from from my trip so excellent timing. I'll call King's tomorrow if I get a full flow overnight and then start on Tuesday - eek!

Cornwall1988 · 26/04/2026 20:45

@Nina861 oh perfect timing! It’s quite exciting to get started I think and sure you’ll be fine with the meds. Even with a few side effects, it was nice knowing it was ‘only’ 10 days or so which made it easier to manage!

Nina861 · Yesterday 12:39

@Cornwall1988 hope your egg collection goes well today and that the hot chocolate will help with the recovery.

Pregnant4456 · Yesterday 14:03

Yes good luck @Cornwall1988 I hope it has gone well. I suspect you may as well already be at home recovering!

Pregnant4456 · Yesterday 14:06

@Nina861 - did you come on in the end? When do you start the injections?

Cornwall1988 · Yesterday 15:02

Thanks so much @Nina861 and @Pregnant4456.

All went well, the procedure was just like you’d said in terms of being asleep for the whole thing. I was a bit sore when I was waking up (not too bad) but they said they’d give me some extra painkillers to help (just Buscapan but definitely helped). Hot chocolate was good (thanks for the tip!) plus I brought some coconut water with me and my partner went to the cafe and came back with a sausage roll which I think was also good for the salt! Stayed a little longer than expected as took me a while to go for a wee but got there in the end! At home now resting in bed, just feel a bit zonked and my partner is going to stock up on meds in case I need them later.

We had 17 eggs retrieved which is great news - more than anticipated. Will find out tomorrow how many are mature & fertilised. Fingers crossed!

How are you both doing?

Nina861 · Yesterday 15:10

Aww great to hear it all went smoothly @Cornwall1988 and with minimal discomfort. Hot choc and sausage roll seems a good combo hahah Now time to ger properly spoilt!
And 17 eggs is a fab number! Fingers crossed for the next few days 🤞🤞

@Pregnant4456 I did! Just as I was travelling back home from my trip on Sunday so I'm starting injections tonight (eek!) and have the first scan on Friday morning.

Cornwall1988 · Yesterday 15:17

Thanks @Nina861. That’s exciting you’re starting your meds tonight. Hope you’re feeling ok about it all. Great you’ve got your first scan on Friday too - it’s always interesting to see what’s going on!!
