Does anyone have any recent experiences of Kings Fertility for IVF and other fertility treatment? And in particular of Dr Ippokratis Sarris?

Just had our docs consultation and all good to go again next cycle. They said if we wanted to try anything to improve our drop down rate between day 3 and day 5 then we could try adding in growth hormone into our stims. She said it wouldn’t do any harm at any rate so may be worth trying (tho does add to cost of meds obvs). Anyone know anything about growth hormone?! I’m thinking to give it a go if it can’t do any harm.

That's great! Will they keep the same medications for the stims since you had some good results?
Great that they offered the growth hormone. I did read about it on other forums - guess it can't hurt!

Cornwall1988 · 20/05/2026 18:11

@Nina861 yes, I think keep the other 2 meds the same and just add in the growth hormone. I’m going to try and get a second opinion on the growth hormone just to double check but yes if it can’t hurt then may as well!

Hi all,
I’m about to start NHS-funded IVF with King’s and am still at the very early stages. I’ve just received the IVF paperwork and need to send it back.
The clinic has told me that once they receive the forms, they’ll contact me to arrange an initial consultation appointment. I was wondering if anyone who has been through this recently could share their timeline? How long did it take to get your first consultation after returning the forms, and what was the timeline like after that?
Thank you!

Nina861 · 18/06/2026 08:17

Hi @Goodvibes1405 , welcome to the chat and great that you're starting your IVF at King's.
I am also doing IVF-funded and did a first round in May which unfortunately wasn't successful but I'm about to start the 2nd one, likely next month 🤞
My timeline for it was:

  • Jan 26 - phone consultation
  • Jan 26 - admin booked me and husband for urine and blood test, nurse consent and (indicative) baseline date for April.
[Separate consult and consent for PGTA testing if you opt for it - this needs to be paid in advance and is not covered by NHS).
  • April - tests, consent and baseline scan (this is usually done between day 18 and 25 of your cycle).
  • end of April / May - stims and Egg Collection.

If the baseline goes well, the same day they give you the meds that you'll be using for Stims which you can pick up at the pharmacy by King's hospital and then you can start the injections when your period starts.
You then do Stim for around 10-11 days with scans every 3 days roughtly to see how you're responding and then it's egg collection.

Hope it helps! What takes time is the nurse consent - I waited from Jan to April for it - but once that's done, it'll all very fast!
I found everyone I spoke to - from admin and consultants - very nice.
You don't usually see the same consultant at every scan/appointment as it depends on who's around when you go, but they'll show you how the follicles are growing and adjust meds if needed.

Good morning @Nina861,

Thank you very much for the detailed information. It's incredibly helpful for those of us who have little idea about the timelines and potential delays, especially after already facing challenges and delays related to fertility treatment.

It's great to have discussions like this where people can share their experiences and support one another. Real-life experiences are so valuable and can really help others know what to expect and feel less alone during the process.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your journey.

Nina861 · 18/06/2026 12:52

No worries @Goodvibes1405, happy to help.
I found this thread and people here very helpful and supportive. It's quite daunting when you first start but it's crazy how quickly you get your head around it all. Any question, just ask :)

I don't know what to do next or where we go. We have only 1 more cycle approved via NHS

Any advice?

Thank you

Goodvibes1405 · 18/06/2026 20:11

Thank you @Nina861 . Did you filled any IVF application pack? Did they informed you whether nhs fund has been approved? I am very confused. How long it to took to get the initial consultation after returning the application forms?

Kings Fertility - 2026
Nina861 · 18/06/2026 20:36

Hi @Goodvibes1405 my GP made the referral to King's so I didn't email that subfertility email address directly - the GP must have sent that.
I first got a referral to Kings in Feb 2025 and went for a consult. They reviewed my results and emailed to say that I was elegible for 2 NHS rounds. They said when I was ready to start to just let them know basically.
Because the referral is only valid for 3 months, when I was ready to start the process, in Oct I asked the GP for a new referral and I then just got an email from King's in Nov to say they got my referral and to just fill in the patient's form and send a copy of our passports.
We then got give the appointments in April.

Are you being referred by your GP?

Goodvibes1405 · 18/06/2026 20:53

@Nina861 I initially visited my GP for a fertility consultation in April 2024. After completing all the necessary tests and checks, I was referred to the hospital and had my first appointment with the gynecologist in February 2025.

I have PCOS, but otherwise there were no significant issues identified. The hospital carried out further tests and scans, which extended the process. In November 2025, I was given an IVF application pack. However, when I called to arrange an appointment to return the forms, I was told they were waiting for approval.

Then, in January 2026, I had another appointment with the consultant, who advised trying ovulation induction for three months first, possibly due to delays with funding approval. After completing this treatment, I was given the IVF application pack again, as they seemed unaware that I had already received it previously. I was asked to email the completed forms and was told that, once received, I would be offered an initial consultation appointment with the IVF clinic.

I am now quite confused about where I currently am in the process. It looks like the process differes from GP to GP

Nina861 · 18/06/2026 21:37

@Goodvibes1405 that sounds really confusing!
I've never seen that IVF pack.
It would definitely worth speaking to King's again or your GP to get some clarification.
It seems you're going round in circles.

Goodvibes1405 · 18/06/2026 21:42

@Nina861 are you treated at King's college Hospital? And ivf process at King's Fertility?

Nina861 · 18/06/2026 21:50

@Goodvibes1405 I've only been at King's Fertility for the IVF consultations and tests.
It might be worth your GP did the referral to Kings Fertility vs Kings hospital.

Goodvibes1405 · 18/06/2026 21:59

@Nina861 My GP referred us to fertility treatment, and got the appointments with sub fertility clinic at Queen's Hospital. we completed all initial check-ups and tests over there. then provided us with an IVF application form, which includes registration forms for King’s Fertility. The process seems to vary depending on the GP and location, which is causing some confusion.

@Vibranthedgehog sorry I missed your message earlier.
So sorry you've had 2 MMC and now a negative test.. would it be worth asking the clinic for a beta/blood test to check it's a definite negative?

Thank you for reading and replying. Unfortunately I am bleeding now too.

Hello. You must be applying through barking Redbridge and Havering. That's the same form and process that I applied through. This form is in order to get the funding approved. I, unfortunately, had huge problems with the availability of the consultant at Queen's Hospital. My care was transferred fully to Kings Fertility.

Cannot recommend them highly enough. We went to them having had two cycles at the Lister and although we’d no major issues there we just liked Kings much better. Firstly the process of egg collection was so much easier; it’s treated as a minor medical procedure so you are quickly in and out whereas before we had to arrive to the lister like it was a full on surgery and there was a lot of build up and time spent there after. Once we’d transferred to kings, as time went on we became a tricky case with many lows and different obstacles no one could have foreseen. I have to say that in all that time the staff at kings were amazing. They never gave up on us and still believed we could get there when really I had given up hope. We are now very lucky to be parents at long last and are planning to try again and in doing so have once again been reminded of their thorough and caring approach. There are many of their staff that will always have a special place in our hearts, they really have been that good to us
