Does anyone have any recent experiences of Kings Fertility for IVF and other fertility treatment? And in particular of Dr Ippokratis Sarris?

@Bubbles14 that’s amazing you’ve tested positive! Huge congrats and wishing you all the best with everything. Did they say how long you have to wait until they do a viability scan?

zirafica · 18/04/2026 08:17

@Bubbles14 I definitely didn’t find it pointless to be honest - as someone mentioned below pregnancy tests pick up on hcg and can show as positive even if you might’ve had a chemical pregnancy and your hcg is decreasing. I wanted to know a ballpark hcg level as well to be reassured it’s all going well (I think ectopics have lower levels that don’t double in two days). Honestly gave me so much peace of mind. But then you have people who test every day and compare darkness of lines and I’d never done that and I literally only had one pregnancy test on my official testing date 😂😂

Bubbles14 · 18/04/2026 10:17

Thanks @Nina861, we were really shocked but feeling very anxious now about things that coudl go wrong, going to try and enjoy it as much as possible having not seen a positive result ever!

@Cornwall1988thank you! Yes the viability scan is in week 7 and if that goes well they discharge you into normal maternity services

@ziraficaah great that’s helpful to know it was reassuring, fingers crossed I’ll hear back today

Nina861 · 18/04/2026 10:25

@Bubbles14 completely understand how you are feeling and how hard it is to keep a level head but yes enjoy the good news and every day that passes. It's brilliant news 🤩

Cornwall1988 · 18/04/2026 13:50

@Bubbles14 yes I’m sure I would feel exactly the same and while there’s never any certainties, hopefully the whole IVF process in terms of embryo selection improves the odds which gives a little reassurance at least. Will keep everything crossed for you!

zirafica · 19/04/2026 06:26

@Bubbles14 honestly the first 8 weeks were definitely the most anxiety inducing so totally understand. Just know there’s nothing you can do to make it a success or a failure, it’s literally all on the little embryo to power through and grow. ♥️ wishing you all the luck!!

Cornwall1988 · 20/04/2026 07:18

@Pregnant4456 is it your FET today? Best of luck if so!

Nina861 · 20/04/2026 15:13

@Pregnant4456 yes, hope it goes/went well!

Pregnant4456 · 20/04/2026 15:37

Thank you @Nina861 and @Cornwall1988 - I am sitting in the waiting room now! I am early but no point going to go for a coffee as it’s just going to make my “comfortably full” bladder hard to maintain.

I haven’t heard from the clinic I am presuming our embryo has thawed appropriately!

How are you guys doing? @Cornwall1988 - I think you had your first monitoring scan today?

xx

Nina861 · 20/04/2026 15:42

@Pregnant4456 fantastic! Can imagine it's a big big mix of emotions!
Let us know later tonight how it went - will be thinking of you and the little embryo!

I am all good and going for baseline scan on Wed 🤞

Oh yes @Cornwall1988 , was the scan today?

Cornwall1988 · 20/04/2026 16:44

@Pregnant4456 that is very exciting! Hope all went smoothly. I remember for my mock ET I was quite unsure about how ‘comfortably full’ my bladder should be!

and thanks for asking both @Nina861 and @Pregnant4456, yep first scan today which was really reassuring. They saw more follicles than predicted from my AFC - about 12 between 6mm-12mm and then another 8 smaller than 6mm. Early days and lots of unknown variables but a promising start hopefully. They did note a tiny bit of fluid on my lining but said the amount wouldn’t be concerning particularly as we’re doing frozen rather than fresh transfer so may well disappear by then. Am starting the med to suppress ovulation tonight and next scan on Weds!

Nina861 · 20/04/2026 17:21

@Cornwall1988 amazing! That's a great number of follicles for the first scan!
How are you finding doing the injections? Are you feeling more tired or having any side effects so far?
When are you in on Wed?? I'm there at 2pm for my baseline.

Cornwall1988 · 20/04/2026 17:46

@Nina861 thank you! Yes I was really pleased but know things can change at any time. Still, good to be optimistic when you can, lol!

Over the weekend I felt quite spaced out at times, a bit headachy and more tired. It would generally ease off as the day went on though and felt fine most of today. Am finding later in the day, am feeling more bloated but know it’s probably going to get a lot more on that front! The jabs themselves are quite fiddly - well the mixing of the Menipur - but that’s probably just me! Not too painful tho I think the one I start tonight is supposed to be more stingy.

I’m in at 9:20 on Weds - shame I’ll miss you! How are you feeling about everything?

Nina861 · 20/04/2026 18:20

@Cornwall1988 oh yes I forgot that once you start, the scans are in the morning!
I'm feeling ok, overall excited I'd say - just can't quite believe we're starting to be honest.
Baseline on Wed and then I'm away abroad for a couple of days so hoping my period doesn't show up early for whatever reason - it's usually very regular but it's been playing on my mind.
I might ask at the clinic if they can tell how far the period might be... would help not having to take the meds with me!

I'm glad you're feeling alright, bar the occasional headache and bloat but yes that's going to get a little worse but a good sign I guess (if not unbearable).
I'm going to be on Meriofert rather than Menipur but that also needs mixing so I'll delegate that part to hubby 😅
Hope the one tonight is not too bad for you 🤞

Cornwall1988 · 20/04/2026 19:18

@Nina861 oh fingers crossed your period is as expected. Yes, even though mine is normally regular, I was worried about starting early when we would have been away. Hopefully they’ll be able to give you an idea at the scan anyway so you can relax a bit.

I got the name of the meds wrong as I was rushing the last message(!) - it’s Meriofert that I’m on too!

Nina861 · 20/04/2026 20:14

@Cornwall1988 ah fab! Let me know how bad or not so bad it is 🤗

Cornwall1988 · 20/04/2026 20:44

@Nina861 so, the Fyremadel was a bit more stingy than the others but not hugely. I normally find Gonal F the least stingy. Meriofert seems to vary day by day, lol! Probably dependent on how my partner is doing the jabbing I guess! I always cool the skin with an ice pack first though no idea if this makes it better or not - maybe I’ll try one without as a comparison. I have a bit of a fear of ovulating early but fingers crossed the Fyremadel does its job!

Pregnant4456 · 20/04/2026 20:49

Luckily our embryo thawed properly. Didn’t go through the catheter on the first attempt so they had to do it again. Not ideal having your legs wide open for a good 25 minutes but eventually they managed to get the embryo out!

Now in the 2WW. Official Test day is 1st May but I think we are going to largely wait it out but will test a day early I think on the 30th April. I have been pregnant so many times I am pretty sure I will know if it has worked by then - I know my body fairly well now!

@Cornwall1988 - sounds like great numbers. During my monitoring scans they said they should get 10 eggs and we ended up getting 19 in the end, you really don’t know what you are going to end up with until the end.

Sounds like you were both on similar medication to me. Tip with Gonal F - as I made this mistake and it cost me about 150 quid, is you don’t need to add 25mm each time to clear the air out of the syringe before using it. I did this for about 4 days before I realised I wasn’t going to have the correct dose remaining in the pen. Ended up needing to buy another one with another dose in as I was basically wasting medication!

Really pleased you are both getting going with it all! Very exciting. Best of luck in the next few days and @Nina861 - enjoy your break before you start xx

Cornwall1988 · 20/04/2026 21:29

@Pregnant4456 great that your embryo thawed as hoped but that sounds stressful about getting stuck in the catheter. Was it worrying or were they fairly used to that happening? I guess if they weren’t worried then it helps you to stay relaxed too and great it all went well in the end. I will keep everything crossed for you for the end of the 2WW. I imagine I would be very impatient and test early but i know this is where madness lies, lol!

Thanks for the tip as well. Luckily we havnt had to do that yet as there’s always been a droplet of fluid appear at the end of the needle but that must have been very annoying to have to get the extra box!

Hope you have some relaxing/distracting things for the coming days, will keep everything crossed for you! Do you buy into any of the random things to help implantation like pineapple and warm socks? My partner thinks I’m mad when I do these things but whatever keeps us sane I guess?!!

Nina861 · 20/04/2026 22:29

@Pregnant4456 gosh 25 minutes with your legs up is a long time - my hips would have collapsed by then I think haha
Keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🤞
The 2 weeks will fly by but hope you have something fun planned to distract you, at least some days.

@Cornwall1988 good to know Fyre wasn't so bad. I'll try with and without the ice pack. It seems I won't be on Gonal but on Rekovelle but it looks very similar.

zirafica · 22/04/2026 09:45

Oh I was on rekovelle and it was by far the best of the lot, really thin needle! Definitely recommend icing the spot first before you do your shots, it helps LOADS. And yes for pre-filled syringes you only have to remove air once, with the first shot! Good luck ladies

Nina861 · 22/04/2026 14:57

@zirafica that's great to know! I just went through the injections with the nurse and it all seems straighforward and yes little needles which certainly helps!

@Cornwall1988 how did your scan go today?

Cornwall1988 · 22/04/2026 16:02

@Nina861 glad all went well with your scan and talk with the nurse. Did they reassure you about going abroad for a couple of days?

My scan went well thanks. 15 follicles measuring between 8-14mm tho 5 of those are at the lower end so will depend if they catch up with the main cohort in time for collection…and then you don’t want to overcook the larger ones so I guess it’s a delicate balance! Next scan on Friday and they said potentially collection on Monday or Tuesday. Quite exciting but also I’m always impatient to see into the future and find out what will be the end result!

How are you feeling about it all?

sirensong · 22/04/2026 16:35

I'm a private patient at King's and wondering how the NHS experience differs, if at all. Do you see a different consultant every single time or have a main doctor you check in with?

zirafica · 22/04/2026 17:14

@sirensongdifferent consultants every time but I did see one twice and one three times (including my FET and then my 8 week viability scan)
