Hi All!

I might be early to it here, but thought I'd start a threat for anyone who knows they'll be going through it in June this year!

I'm based near Sheffield, and will be going through the treatment in sheffield. I'm 36, will turn 37 during the treatment. We've been through one failed round last August, so we've spent the time since getting further private checks done, and now we're ready for the next round. We came back as 'normal' on the nhs tests, but we found other things with these private tests! We've had all of our follow ups, catch up consultation appointments. Next appointment is our nurse appointment on the 5th May, then after that it's waiting for my next cycle to start at the very end of May / beginning of June.

From the further tests we've had done, I'm now on thyroid medication to bring my thyroid down to fertility recommended levels, my partner had DNA Frag & Oxidative Stress tests done and we've made improvements based on the results of these. I've also been having some acupuncture, which I've also feel has helped my sanity!

Please share your stories and hopefully we can all support each other during this. I'm much more nervous this time, even though I know we're better set up than we were last time.

@Gosia19brilliant news!

@Limmers14the waiting and unexpected twists and turns are so hard!! I don't know if you have any children already, I don't, so to make the waiting a little easier I tell myself that now is the time to enjoy the freedom and have some fun as when my baby finally arrives...there will be no going back! 😂 you've smashed it so far, so enjoy a little bit more time for you.

Random one... the nurse said today that my egg collection would be either Friday or Monday depending on how the follicles grow. Do you know if I'm able to push for Monday? Is egg collection really that time sensitive if they don't do them at all on the weekends?

Had a call with the embryologist - 5 blastocysts and potentially some more tomorrow. It’s really good news but burst into tears afterwards, the lack of control really hit me I guess. We’ll have the extra step to see if they carry a genetic condition, which will mean not suitable.

Bit of a wobble day today.

Its a lot isnt it

Allow yourself to feel all the feels - new day tomorrow

Your doing pgta arent you

Thanks @FluentTealGuide @YellowTack and @Hopeandfaith1990 I know it’s the best thing to do health wise for many reasons, it just feels so far away now. We have a super busy summer though so I think it will go quickly, though I also don’t want to wish away the last summer before we hopefully have a baby! God this is such a rollercoaster haha

YellowTack · 16/06/2025 22:55

@CloudyIvy55 they decide on the egg collection date based on the size of your follicles. The reason it is time sensitive is that if you trigger too early your follicles might not be mature, but if you trigger too late they might be over-mature, so the clinic will assess when it is best to trigger to get the best number of mature follicles.

Please help me out ladies. Im getting cold feet. I have contemplated whether or not we should cancel this cycle and call it quits since last time we had no embryos. My protocol is different this time and will get my new plan when I ring with day 1 of my period but what are my chances of actually going from a full fertilisation failure to actually getting embryos. Can someone give me a pick me up and give me some positive stories?

confused2025 · 17/06/2025 05:38

@Miraclemuma03sending you ❤️. Not every cycle is the same and you have put so much effort into this. You have your scan soon right? Hopefully this will bring you some peace.
this journey is tough but you need to remember the end goal. Also,
I imagine if you cancelled the cycle you would still lose your cash.
I think do it and know we are all rooting for you x

Thank you. I know in my head that each cycle is different but when your in the thick of all the negativity its hard to get out of that head space.

@Miraclemuma03this is the toughest process. You should do something nice for yourself today to try and relax x

I agree @Miraclemuma03

I think on this journey we get accustomed to thinking we are fated to whatever outcomes we’ve had in the past, but the fact that you’ve changed your protocol and meds etc could mean an entirely different outcome.

I guess if you don’t try, you’ll never know? And yes, if you’d lose the money either way then you almost may as well.

It’s really hard to put yourself out there and try again after it hasn’t gone as expected the first time, but it’s also incredibly brave. You can do this!!

Thank you. I will go ahead with the cycle its just that im feeling a bit negative about the whole thing.

FluentTealGuide · 17/06/2025 06:45

@CloudyIvy55 As Limmers said, it's based on how the follicles grow. For example, at my scan on Weds last week I was given a range of Mon–Thu this week for collection. At my scan on Friday they knew it wouldn't be Monday as the follicles hadn't grown enough, so they then adjusted their timescale to Wed/Thu. Then yesterday they said it would be Weds, so I triggered last night – the trigger is a very set time before collection – in my case and I think most others it's 36 hours – so once that's confirmed you'll have a concrete plan for the next two days.

Both clinics I've been to (though we didn't do IVF at the first) have said they will do weekend collections and treatments if needed and I can't imagine other clinics wouldn't if it was needed.

That’s completely understandable and to be honest I was the same at the beginning. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to feel positive, it’s hard enough as it is. You could do some gentle journalling with some positive affirmations if you felt up to it but I think it’s natural to feel some negativity and apprehension.

i do believe that mindset is important but I also hate the argument that a change in mindset / toxic positivity can I immediately make you the most fertile person ever 🥲

Gosia19 · 17/06/2025 21:52

Hope everyone is doing well!! Love reading everyone’s updates and been thinking of you all today. X

Today I told one of my good friends about going for another egg retrieval. Took some weight off my shoulders. We spoke about how stressed I am at the moment and I need to find something that relaxes me and slows me down for a while. I have so much going on and this also impacts how I feel about moving forward with another cycle.

I just got my period so I will be starting another cycle (my fourth) tomorrow. I have a weird treatment this time with letrozole twice a day and stims every other day, I have never done that before so I am bit stressed about it. Looks like I will be going to Prague for EC next week!

CloudyIvy55 · 18/06/2025 10:53

@YellowTack good luck with this cycle! It's a good feeling when you can finally get started.

I'm sat in the waiting room for my second scan. Three other couples but I'm here alone today. Hoping to get a bit more information compared to my first scan and maybe an egg collection date 😬

I have no updates, I’m waiting for ovulation for my next scan. Expecting it to be tomorrow as it’s my usual day of the cycle, but so far I have no line at all on my test sticks so who knows! Not looking forward to the tube in this heat, I think I’d rather go to work!

CloudyIvy55 · 18/06/2025 12:49

Second scan done. Follicles are growing but a little slowly so another scan booked for Friday with egg collection most likely on Monday. I'm pretty nervous about the egg collection so it would of been nice to get it over and done with sooner. It's going to be a long weekend waiting for a Monday.

There is a little fluid on my uterus, it's very small at the moment but it's something they will keep an eye on as if it gets worse, it may mean we can't go ahead with a fresh cycle and will need to freeze any potential embryos.

worldwidetravel2017 · 18/06/2025 12:55

My fet is confirmed for next week
