Hi All!

I might be early to it here, but thought I'd start a threat for anyone who knows they'll be going through it in June this year!

I'm based near Sheffield, and will be going through the treatment in sheffield. I'm 36, will turn 37 during the treatment. We've been through one failed round last August, so we've spent the time since getting further private checks done, and now we're ready for the next round. We came back as 'normal' on the nhs tests, but we found other things with these private tests! We've had all of our follow ups, catch up consultation appointments. Next appointment is our nurse appointment on the 5th May, then after that it's waiting for my next cycle to start at the very end of May / beginning of June.

From the further tests we've had done, I'm now on thyroid medication to bring my thyroid down to fertility recommended levels, my partner had DNA Frag & Oxidative Stress tests done and we've made improvements based on the results of these. I've also been having some acupuncture, which I've also feel has helped my sanity!

Please share your stories and hopefully we can all support each other during this. I'm much more nervous this time, even though I know we're better set up than we were last time.

First scan done - nurse didn't give me much information but so far so good apparently. A 'good' number of follicles, with some 'nice big ones'. Another scan on Wednesday so hopefully I'll get some more information then.

Sounds similar to mine!! I was anxiously trying to take notes throughout but there wasn’t much to write 🤣 I also asked for the printed ultrasound report and wasn’t allowed that either. Probably a good thing as I would have obsessed over it ! Hopefully you’ll know more by Wednesday.

Exactly the same here @CloudyIvy55 - they were being very coy with my first scan.

I missed the day 5 call from the embryologist and now can’t get hold off them gah. The suspense!

I had my day 8 (or 9? I’ve lost count 😅) scan today and we should be triggering tonight and EC Wednesday. I’m just waiting on a call from the clinic to confirm once my bloods are back.

@Gosia19 gah that's so annoying! Ive had mine glued to me everything they've said they'll call. I get my day 5 call tomorrow now, I think im only a day behind you and @Hopeandfaith1990 . Hope you both get great news today!

The doctor just called to confirm trigger tonight and collection on Wednesday, but they’re recommending freezing embryos and doing a frozen transfer next month. A bit of a mixed bag of emotions (and extra £££), but still good news about the collection.

Had a call with the embryologist - 5 blastocysts and potentially some more tomorrow. It’s really good news but burst into tears afterwards, the lack of control really hit me I guess. We’ll have the extra step to see if they carry a genetic condition, which will mean not suitable.

Bit of a wobble day today.

How do you all deal with the uncertainty of timing in the IVF process? I feel like I’ve spent the past 2 years waiting to now just have even more!

Basically we had our follow-up with the consultant to discuss when we can do a FET and she recommends waiting until my next cycle, so after my first proper period following egg collection which I’ll get at the end of July. This would mean transfer in mid-August which is when my husband and I go on a driving and hiking holiday but it’s also when she is on holiday so in a way, timings work out not to do a FET

However this means I’ll have to wait until I get my period in late August, then a transfer in mid-September. It’s so frustrating. I know overall it’s better and it’ll mean I’ll be less stressed and won’t need to take medication on holiday but it’s still disheartening to feel like you’re always being knocked back

Yay @Gosia19 that's amazing! Similar to me, but we've got 3 confirmed and a potential 2 TBC tomorrow. I was a bag of nerves this morning before the call, I can't believe you had to wait so long, you hero.

I'm so grateful for our numbers but I think recurrent miscarriage has made me believe I need a huge bank of embryos due to the ones I've lost in the past. I am really happy though. I think just when people say 'it only takes one' I feel like that doesn't apply to me because I've lost 5 already, I'd like to have a bank of about 50 if possible haha. I know it can genuinely just take one. I just need to repeat this mantra daily.

@Limmers14 I feel you. I was so intent on doing everything ASAP I wasn't even going to do PGT-A because of the wait for results.. but I'm glad I am now. I tell myself that I've already waited 2.5 years, what's another few months. I also want to get myself in the fittest most healthiest shape so I can be as ready as possible for transfer so its a good use of the time for that. This is what I tell myself anyway, I'll still have lots of feelings of impatience but that is okay too.

@worldwidetravel2017 Thanks, I’ve heard that so am trying to focus on the positive side.

@Limmers14 I’ve felt like that a bit today with the news about now needing to do a frozen transfer instead of the FET this was supposed to be. But ultimately I think it works out better this way, as I’m helping to organise a big event next weekend and I know that if the transfer were to fail I’d blame the stress/overworking (i.e. me) on it. At least this way I’ll be less busy, and the doctor said the timings are more certain for frozen transfers.

@Hopeandfaith1990 congratulations on your 3 and fingers crossed for your 2 still growing.

I completely understand what you are saying about the « it only takes one », as I have also had 2 MMC so for me it didn’t take one, which is why I would prefer to have a few embryos to increase my chances. I don’t think I would be comfortable transferring before I have 2 euploids otherwise it just puts way too much pressure on this one chance! Of course I will already be grateful if I have 1 euploid but in the end it’s a numbers game unfortunately!

@Limmers14 I completely understand what you are going through, everything takes longer than planned with IVF.

I am very type A so I love having plans and timelines with potential due dates, but in the end I have realised it is only making it worse when things don’t follow my timelines, which is always the case with IVF. I am trying to be a bit more flexible and in the grand scheme of things a few months won’t make a difference, especially if the embryos are already frozen.

It will be nice to go on holidays with your partner, and you will be able to enjoy the hikes without stressing about the potential effect on the embryo.

@FluentTealGuide exactly the same as you! Triggering tonight, collection Wed and also £2k more as it now has to be a frozen transfer 😬

it really is such a numbers game, which is not fun! It’s finding the balance between trying to be grateful but also not feeling secure enough, if that makes sense!

Good luck with trigger and EC this week!! The extra £2k is such a stinger isn’t it 😩
