Hi All!

I might be early to it here, but thought I'd start a threat for anyone who knows they'll be going through it in June this year!

I'm based near Sheffield, and will be going through the treatment in sheffield. I'm 36, will turn 37 during the treatment. We've been through one failed round last August, so we've spent the time since getting further private checks done, and now we're ready for the next round. We came back as 'normal' on the nhs tests, but we found other things with these private tests! We've had all of our follow ups, catch up consultation appointments. Next appointment is our nurse appointment on the 5th May, then after that it's waiting for my next cycle to start at the very end of May / beginning of June.

From the further tests we've had done, I'm now on thyroid medication to bring my thyroid down to fertility recommended levels, my partner had DNA Frag & Oxidative Stress tests done and we've made improvements based on the results of these. I've also been having some acupuncture, which I've also feel has helped my sanity!

Please share your stories and hopefully we can all support each other during this. I'm much more nervous this time, even though I know we're better set up than we were last time.

@worldwidetravel2017 yes of course. It's such a mix of emotions. You've given some great advice on here about doing your favourite things and self love so hoping you can find some time for yourself.

@YellowTack good luck with this cycle! It's a good feeling when you can finally get started.

I'm sat in the waiting room for my second scan. Three other couples but I'm here alone today. Hoping to get a bit more information compared to my first scan and maybe an egg collection date 😬

Did you get an egg coll date?

How are you - is it a 2 week wait for pgta results?

CloudyIvy55 · 18/06/2025 14:52

@worldwidetravel2017 most likely Monday, so a few more days of injections to go yet.

I'm more worried about a fluid they saw on my uterus at the scan. It was a very small amount and I was told not to worry as it could just disappear. I haven't helped myself by googling it and now I'm wondering if fluid in the uterus has been our problem all along (unexplained infertility).

Afternoon all.

Fairly depressing day today :( having had waited over 2 months for a consult with a fertility expert on the NHS. Was told we fall under the the unexplained fertility bracket and needed to be TTC for 3 years or more to get NHS funded IVF :(

Being >35 years, it seems too much of a risk to wait and have it not work.

I have a range of prices going private from £3k to £15k per cycle.

Anyone able to highlight the actual average cost?

Going to setup consullts/discussions with the doctors soon but want have a rough expectation.

Trying to take the good news that although we are are unexplained, all of our tests have been fairly good so far.

Many Thanks,

Jamie

No PCOS.
Consistent 27/28 day cycle.
Ultrasound good.
Blood tests and AMH levels also good.

HSG hopefully being booked for a few weeks time.

Will check the Hertility Health out. Looking at it, it looks like most of the tests i've done. Is there a specific test you'd be recommending?

When you say - no pcos - whos decided that ?

Thing is - theres 4 types of pcos - i have pcos with regular cycles.

Has your nhs gp tested
B12
Feretin
Vit d
Celiac
Prolactin
Crp
Etc ?

I was told summer 2023 that i didnt havs pcos.
Feb 2024 - i was told i did..
Things can change

Hertility health are very thorough.

Highly recommend.

Your gp could test your shbg.
In pcos patients - its often low.

Dya know the book ' it starts with an egg ' ?
Highly recommend

worldwidetravel2017 · 18/06/2025 18:03

Also - do any of your immediate fam havd autoimmune conditions ?
And has your blood clotting speed been tested ?

Yep, just waiting for results now. ☺️ I’m good thanks, enjoying feeling a bit more normal and getting back to routine. Got a couple of nights away booked from tomorrow for a bit of a reset.

How about you? Where are you up to and how you doing?

Thank you for the detailed response.

All my GP/Consultant said was it was very unlikely for me to have PCOS based on my results.

Looking at what tests they had me do, the only ones on your list were prolactin and SHB - both fine.

Prolactine - 430 miu/L

FluentTealGuide · 18/06/2025 21:58

@CloudyIvy55 I’ve had fluid in my uterus at one or two of my scans during investigations but the consultant said it’s normal. Not sure how much was there though. Maybe worth a chat with your clinic?

I had my egg collection/retrieval today. We were at the clinic for ages afterwards as I threw up a few times, so they had to give me fluids. Journey home was rough.

It went well though, and we got 14 eggs (!), which was mega surprising as we were expecting only 5–7 based on Monday’s scan. We’ll find out tomorrow from the embryologist how many were mature and how many fertilised.

The consultant also said that if we have viable embryos to freeze on day 5 (it was supposed to be an FET but my progesterone was too high on Monday so it has changed to frozen), we can look at potentially doing the frozen transfer from after the next cycle – so end July earliest.

Gosia19 · 18/06/2025 22:39

Congratulations @FluentTealGuide! sorry to hear you felt so rough after egg collection, hope you are resting up and wishing lots of luck to you and your eggs!

Miraclemuma03 · 19/06/2025 07:38

Just waiting for my period still. My tracker app tells me if I had a normal 28 day cycle it would start tomorrow but last cycle it was 10 days over the 28 day cycle so now we are just in the waiting game and hoping for things to move along sooner rather then later

No autoimmune conditions and my blood clotting speed hasn't been tested.

Is it possible to get these tests on the NHS, including the ones you mentioned early?

B12
Feretin
Vit d
Celiac
Prolactin
CRP

Yep - nhs will do all of those

Nhs can do blood clotting speed

My ivf consultant asked them last yr to check bloood clotting speed a few more times but ultimately NHS had already tested it and seen it clotted fast..

If they ask why you want feretin - vit d - prolactin etc - just say fertility journey and recommended in it starts with an egg book

They did my prolactin no questions asked.

Nhs bands are wide.
Feretin you want to aim for 80...
Feretin helps with getting and staying preg

Equally - as tommys baby charity say - theres a link with low vit d and miscarriage

Wise to take 1000 iu daily vit d
And get it to optional levels of 80 - 100

All our embryos were ' top quality '.i believe thats partly down to sorting these vitamins

B12 also important

Hi everyone, how are we all doing? Those in the TWW how are you finding it?
Ive got one blastocyst in my 2nd cycle again so I've been feeling pretty low and nervous about it, so none to freeze for the 2nd time.

Sorry you're still waiting @Miraclemuma03 .

Will you do a fresh transfer with that embryo? Im sorry you didnt get more to put on ice.

My period just comes whenever it feels like it really, I was starting to have short cycles and they were coming around 22 to 24 days for about 3 cycles there and then all of a sudden last cycle it was 10 days late from a 28 day cycle and around 14 days late from a 24 day cycle. I cant keep up but I chose not to be on the pill so its just a waiting game at this point.
