Hi All!

I might be early to it here, but thought I'd start a threat for anyone who knows they'll be going through it in June this year!

I'm based near Sheffield, and will be going through the treatment in sheffield. I'm 36, will turn 37 during the treatment. We've been through one failed round last August, so we've spent the time since getting further private checks done, and now we're ready for the next round. We came back as 'normal' on the nhs tests, but we found other things with these private tests! We've had all of our follow ups, catch up consultation appointments. Next appointment is our nurse appointment on the 5th May, then after that it's waiting for my next cycle to start at the very end of May / beginning of June.

From the further tests we've had done, I'm now on thyroid medication to bring my thyroid down to fertility recommended levels, my partner had DNA Frag & Oxidative Stress tests done and we've made improvements based on the results of these. I've also been having some acupuncture, which I've also feel has helped my sanity!

Please share your stories and hopefully we can all support each other during this. I'm much more nervous this time, even though I know we're better set up than we were last time.

Amazing news @YellowTack!!

Sorry to hear this wasn’t your cycle @Pharmapalava

@LimeBird thinking if you & hoping there’s progress soon

RainbowFluff · 13/06/2025 14:43

Congratulations @YellowTack

Sorry @LimeBird , I’ve had 2 rounds with no embryos and it’s the worst feeling. I will be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed.

@Pharmapalava sorry to hear your news, I’m 41 and having no success any more after a good first round, I wish I had better news for you! But people do get pregnant, my clinic even said I’m not that old for ivf and you are younger than me.

YellowTack · 13/06/2025 13:20

I finally got the update from the clinic, they told me they would call me in the morning but of course they didn’t!

We have one blastocyst !!! I know it’s not a lot compared to others but given that we only had 3 follicles retrieved and 1 fertilised, I think it’s a miracle!

It has been biopsied and sent for PGT-A testing, but we won’t hear back before another 2-3 weeks. Hopefully I will have started my next cycle by then!

Brilliant news @YellowTack - this has made my day!!!

LimeBird · 13/06/2025 18:04

Thanks all for your messages and hoping for me! Sadly got the call today to say that the last one has not progressed. So disappointing. So our one frozen one will now be PGTA tested and hoping our luck may finally show up and mean we get a euploid. I swear it’s the hope that kills you in this game! 😭 so many hopes and disappointments. Is anyone else struggling to work and worried they may get sacked on top of all this?! 🤪

so pleased you got a blastocyst @YellowTack ! Amazing news.

good luck to all you ladies x

Hopeandfaith1990 · 13/06/2025 18:27

Wonderful news @YellowTack❤️

@LimeBird I’m so sorry :( it feels so unfair when so much work has gone into even getting to this point :(( praying for your PGT-A results.

I went back to work today two days after EC and was barely there mentally 🥲 it’s so hard.

@Pharmapalava so sorry it ended like this 😢 devastating. Amazing that you created a whole app, I will definitely check it out this weekend. I hope you have some nice things and treats lined up to help you heal ❤️‍🩹

YellowTack · 13/06/2025 19:51

Thank you @HelloPippa0 , @RainbowFluff, @Gosia19, @LimeBird , @Hopeandfaith1990

@LimeBird let’s cross our fingers that our single little fighters will be euploids!

Honestly I am glad that I am not working at the moment because IVF takes so much time in my life. I learnt I was being made redundant the same day I learnt about my second miscarriage, but at least garden leave gave me time to focus on IVF. It started to be very difficult to find excuses at work for all the time off for medical appointments. I think my workplace probably thought I had something very serious going on.
The issue is that my contract finishes next week and I want a new job before doing any transfers otherwise I won’t be eligible for maternity pay if I fall pregnant. And I also need a salary before I use all my savings for IVF 😅.

Miraclemuma03 · 14/06/2025 04:57

Iv been MIA for a couple of days, and whoa lots have happened. Congratulations to those who have had egg retrieval and congrats on all the embryos. Sorry for those who ended up with no embryos, thats extremely heartbreaking and disappointing, I hope you all go on and have a successful round with the next cycle.

Im due to get a period in 6 days but its never on time so we will see.

CloudyIvy55 · 14/06/2025 09:06

I'm so sorry to read the stories of the cycles which didn't work out... really am thinking of you and wishing you all the best in whatever you decide to do next x

Work is a really difficult one. After much thought, I decided to tell my manager. I wasn't sure because to be honest, she is a total b. BUT... she has been pretty good and I've been able to adapt my hours to fit with what I need. Also she's leaving and will be gone in a few weeks.

I'm on day 5 of Ovaleap. Feeling absolutely fine with no side effects, which is lovely but now I'm worrying that I'm somehow doing this wrong or it's not working 🤦‍♀️ Start on Ovamex tomorrow morning - a little nervous as the nurse said those injections are a little worse than the ovaleap ones 😬

First scan on Monday which again, I'm a little nervous for. Not the actual scan, but just to know how it's going so far.

I worried about not doing the meds properly because I also didn’t have side effects at the beginning but then they kicked in with a vengeance around day 7/8 so that might be the case for you too. Also, your first scan will confirm that you’re doing it right 🩷 I didn’t have side effects or bruising on injection area so I kept questioning myself but it was all fine xx

Gosia19 · 14/06/2025 10:14

Just had my day 3 update, numbers still looked good but the embryologist cautioned they expected the biggest drop-off between now and day 5. They expect a 40-50% attrition rate during this time, but emphasised it can be really variable between people. I asked some follow-up Qs but I think they were wary that I’d read too much into anything.

They didn’t mention the grades and now I kind of wish I’d asked. Not sure if it’s good to have all the info to help set expectations, or whether it’s better to not have expectations as we know anything could happen really.

Yes @YellowTack let’s keep hoping for our little embryos! 🙏
Ah @CloudyIvy55 I’m sure you are doing great, it’s so nerve wracking when you first start the injections and I remember thinking how do they let the general public just do this at home and assume we’ll all do it correctly?! But in the end you do get the hang of it. Fingers crossed for your first scan, just remember that you still have plenty of time for them to grow if they’re not yet going mad on the first one!

HelloPippa0 · 14/06/2025 13:45

@Gosia19 glad everything is looking positive on day 3, hopefully the progress continues.

@CloudyIvy55 good luck for the Monday scan!

I’ve just been given Letrozole as my estrogen is very high but general response to stims not so good for my AMH levels. Did anyone else at risk of OHSS have this?

Rayofsunshine22 · 14/06/2025 21:31

@KayEmmSquared hey how you getting on? So my period did start Thursday night and they told me to start injections last night! So day 2 done now. Are you the same?

I agree it is so nerve wracking! Constantly thinking am I doing this right. ATM I inject into my thigh then my day 6 ones onwards are under tummy & still ones in my thigh. I presume I can change legs ??!!
My first scan is Fri next week. I'm also anxious to know what's happening & that I'm actually doing it right!

I am also so sorry hearing everyone's sad news who it hasn't worked out for just now :( sending lots of love & hope 🙏🏻

Are u doing pgta testing ,?

KayEmmSquared · 14/06/2025 23:05

That’s fab news @Rayofsunshine22 crazy how it just starts without the normal re-symptoms, isn’t it! But so glad that’s you started! I started yesterday too, with Prostap, nothing today then Ovaleap daily from tomorrow, so we should on the same-ish timeframe. That’s great you have a scan booked now too, my first scan is also Friday 🤞🏻

yes, you can change legs, I’ve to rotate between thighs and tummy to avoid irritation.

Gosia19 · 14/06/2025 23:07

@worldwidetravel2017 Yep we are doing PGT-A and PGT-M.

Rayofsunshine22 · 14/06/2025 23:26

@KayEmmSquared oh brill thank you. Good luck with your other one tomorrow! That's great we are similar timing! 🙌🏻
So all these Meriofert ones have to be in my leg then the ones I start on 18th are tummy & I have to carry on with Meriofert at the same time. Not looking forward to 2 a day 😭

FluentTealGuide · 15/06/2025 08:53

Gah, I took my Fyremadel (ovulation prevention) 45 minutes late this morning. I also took it 15 mins early yesterday so it’s basically an hour late. Can anyone reassure me? My clinic is closed at the weekend so I can’t call to ask anyone. Trying not to spiral that I’ve ruined this cycle and wasted thousands of pounds.

Rayofsunshine22 · 15/06/2025 09:00

@FluentTealGuide were you given a time range to take it in? Mine can be between 7-9pm on a night. Or does your have to be at an exact time?
Try not to worry..... Will it not go to an on call nurse if you call the clinic?

FluentTealGuide · 15/06/2025 09:18

@Rayofsunshine22 Thank you. They just said 8am or 8:30 but to keep to the time I pick (like for the stims injection). There’s no on call, just the number for Reception and the online portal. I’ve sent them a message. Husband said there’s not much we can do so just try to relax (ha!).

Gosia19 · 15/06/2025 09:46

Sorry to hear the stress @FluentTealGuide - I’m not much help as I had different medication to you. My written instructions said I must take the medication at the same time, but when I had a few evening events the nurses were very relaxed and just said to take it before I went. My egg collection was all fine. ☺️

They did say ovulation prevention was more time sensitive but I varied it within the half an hour window. I do think they wouldn’t risk telling patients a window without having a bit of buffer time either side, otherwise it would be easy for patients to mis-time by a minute or two. I have no medical knowledge, hope it’s a bit reassuring to help you relax!

Ignore this for the trigger injections though, they should be exact.
