Hi All!

I might be early to it here, but thought I'd start a threat for anyone who knows they'll be going through it in June this year!

I'm based near Sheffield, and will be going through the treatment in sheffield. I'm 36, will turn 37 during the treatment. We've been through one failed round last August, so we've spent the time since getting further private checks done, and now we're ready for the next round. We came back as 'normal' on the nhs tests, but we found other things with these private tests! We've had all of our follow ups, catch up consultation appointments. Next appointment is our nurse appointment on the 5th May, then after that it's waiting for my next cycle to start at the very end of May / beginning of June.

From the further tests we've had done, I'm now on thyroid medication to bring my thyroid down to fertility recommended levels, my partner had DNA Frag & Oxidative Stress tests done and we've made improvements based on the results of these. I've also been having some acupuncture, which I've also feel has helped my sanity!

Please share your stories and hopefully we can all support each other during this. I'm much more nervous this time, even though I know we're better set up than we were last time.

@Hopeandfaith1990 @FluentTealGuide I carefully wiped the end of the needle with a pre-sealed alcohol wipe (in the little sachets) as I read online it can reduce the irritation. I just went for it and it was fine but have zero medical training so maybe check this with someone first.

I’m back on the Cetrotide wagon and started Inhixa (blood thinners) today. I was a bit nervous about Inhixa as lots of online comments saying the needle was blunt/the liquid burned. It was absolutely fine and didn’t burn, yayyy. Leaving this here for the next time someone googles it and hopefully brings reassurance.

I’ve got all my fingers crossed for you and your fab five@anna6186. You’ve got this!

Hey
Im also on inhixa
Inhixa and burserlin atm

@Limmers14with your OHSS have you had pain when you go for a wee? When my bladder is full and I go to the toilet it’s quite painful and feels like so much pressure, then subsides about 2-3 mins after I’ve been to the loo. Sorry if TMI! Xx

RainbowFluff · 12/06/2025 20:42

Thanks @worldwidetravel2017 , I’ll check those out

RainbowFluff · 12/06/2025 20:49

@cakeislife1234 i had this with two of my cycles but didn’t have OHSS (at least not enough to be diagnosed!). It went away after about a week.

I have this!! And I am SO bloated. Downing peppermint tea but the doxycycline they gave me is making me have awful heartburn 🥲 ah so lovely!

cakeislife1234 · 12/06/2025 20:56

@Hopeandfaith1990its awful isn’t it? I feel like I can feel my ovaries pop back into position when I empty my bladder!

here’s hoping it doesn’t last too much longer! Xx

Limmers14 · 12/06/2025 21:00

@Hopeandfaith1990 sorry to hear you’re feeling rough! So I was extremely bloated for the first few days and then it started going down. Only back to normal-ish now, ten days later. My lower belly was quite tender and I also had a pain in the middle of my abs, below by ribs, I was sooo tired. I napped in the middle of the day and was in bed at 8 (very unusual for me!). On Day 4 after egg retrieval I started having shortness of breath and pain under my right rib and in my right shoulder blade which is now gone. I also had to wee a lot but only small amounts. I was also constipated for the first 2-3 days. I also wasn’t very hungry!

@cakeislife1234 i think I know the feeling you mean! It’s as if your bladder has been squeezed into a weird shape by your ovaries and when you wee, it’s going back to normal. I did feel a little pressure but back to normal now.

cakeislife1234 · 12/06/2025 21:02

@Limmers14glad youre feeling back to normal now, I’m almost 7 days past my EC so hoping I’ll feel better after the weekend. So weird I had no symptoms really until today!

on a separate note anyone have any idea when to expect a period to start after stopping progesterone?

YellowTack · 12/06/2025 22:19

It’s my third EC but the recovery has been the hardest so far. I am still very tired, I could take a nap everyday if I had time, and I also have a decreased appetite (which is not necessarily a bad thing).

I am really stressed out because tomorrow we will finally know if our only embryo made it to blastocyst stage!

GLizzie88 · 13/06/2025 06:32

@YellowTack wishing you all the luck in the world for your news today xx

Best of luck @YellowTack !!

LimeBird · 13/06/2025 08:23

Good luck @YellowTack ! 🙏 keeping everything crossed.
I had severe pain after my 3rd EC a few months ago, ended up calling emergency number- they said sometimes they flush out the follicles with fluid and that can cause more pain due to fluid left in there- I don’t know if that’s the case for you but definitely call your helpline number if you’re worried! This EC has weirdly been the least painful, just that horrible pain on a full bladder as you mentioned!
So I haven’t posted updates as it’s been too stressful, but I had 9 eggs collected, 6 were mature and 4 fertilised. Sadly by day 5 (Weds) there were no blastocysts. They wanted to culture one to day 6 as it was still showing some chance, but it arrested yesterday. Then yesterday they said another one had started back up so they wanted to culture til today. I have little hope at this stage (day 7) but maybe I’ll get some kind of miracle!
Best of luck to all others awaiting post EC news- I find this the worst part! X

Thinking of you @YellowTack!

Sorry you’ve had such a stressful time @LimeBird, also thinking of you and hope you get some positive news. 🩷

@YellowTackwishing you all the luck for today 🍀

@LimeBirdso sorry, that sounds so stressful. I am rooting so hard for your little day 7 fighter xx

YellowTack · 13/06/2025 10:48

@LimeBird crossing my fingers for your miracle!

Hey ladies

No good news unfortunately. Just wanted to say I'm afraid I'm out for this cycle. Just got the results from my OTD bHCG bloods yesterday which confirmed what I was feeling.

Sadly it is not my time this time however, fingers crossed and baby dust for everyone here 💜 The month is young 🤞 Thank you everyone for the conversation and support so far, even if it's indirect. It's really helpful to see the journeys - warts / hives and all and be on this parallel path together.

Just to help me process things, I built this app to visualise and put some order to my numbers.

Anyone else feeling really fatigued? I was hoping to distract myself and keep busy but I’m just lazing around and doing the bare minimum working from home, which is usually unlike me! I am on four different medications after egg collection which I guess might contribute.

Sorry to hear your update @Pharmapalava - anything we can do to support at all? Wishing you all the bests for next steps.

LimeBird · 13/06/2025 11:06

So sorry to hear @Pharmapalava - hope you are ok x

Pharmapalava · 13/06/2025 11:14

Thank you @Gosia19 @LimeBird , that's very kind - I had a good cry on DH yesterday. We already had an immersive theatre thing booked in the evening which was a good distraction and I got to have a cocktail that's not just sugar.

Any stories of successes of people only on /after their 5th round of IVF or above age 39?

GLizzie88 · 13/06/2025 11:54

Im so sorry @Pharmapalava . Its so heartbreaking. @LimeBird its so heartbreaking and stressful. Keeping everything crossed for the day 7 one for you.

I found out this morning my 6 are down to 3, so im not excited about the next few days while we wait for news.

@Pharmapalava sorry to hear it didn’t work. It’s very impressive that you built your own app!

YellowTack · 13/06/2025 13:20

I finally got the update from the clinic, they told me they would call me in the morning but of course they didn’t!

We have one blastocyst !!! I know it’s not a lot compared to others but given that we only had 3 follicles retrieved and 1 fertilised, I think it’s a miracle!

It has been biopsied and sent for PGT-A testing, but we won’t hear back before another 2-3 weeks. Hopefully I will have started my next cycle by then!
