BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

@Xwx1010 I was on 4000 for two months before Ivf to get my levels right up and now 2000 for life I think to maintain

Xwx1010 · 03/04/2025 09:52

@captainsmal they may have changed but last year they were low on a few things.
I've just checked online and it’s the vit D not folic acid it’s low on (sorry don’t panic!)

The proceive ones I use provide folic acid in the L-methylfolate form, which is think is better for absorption but who knows given I’m yet to have a successful pregnancy.

maybe get an additional vit d supplement if you’re happy on the Asda ones?

I take additional b12 and fish oil too x

Edited

Just be sure it's not cod liver oil. They advise against that in pregnancy due to high vitamin A levels x

Thanks everyone for checking in on me. I'm ok, just feel a bit shocked and traumatized still from Tuesday. It has really affected me. My husband wants me to try see a specialist privately to try find out what caused the bleed and where it was etc. On the day we didn't take much in and were just relieved to hear the baby was OK so we didn't ask many questions.

I feel like I want to wait for my 12 week scan which is 11th April but he has a lot of anxiety and is keen for me to see someone asap.

Not sure what to go or where to go. Any advice? There are lots of expensive clinics on harley street which is not far from my place of work but I don't want to just book something for the sake of it unless it is actually helpful and can tell me something.

Currently trying to contact my nhs hospital where I have the 12 week scan booked to see what they suggest.

Xwx1010 · 03/04/2025 13:59

@BellaRosex its omega 3 fish oil - not CLO but thank you - how are you doing? Xx

@OneWaryCat I’m not surprised, bleeding is so scary, especially when it’s bright red and a lot. A&E and having to be scanned in an emergency is pretty upsetting too. I’ve had 3 losses and the a&e at my hospital is awful, never anyone available to scan you etc, such long waits.
only thing I can suggest is asking the EPAU or gp to do your bloods to check for things like anemia and any hormone issues. I did ask my gp but they said no - it’s worth an ask though. It does sound like a subchorionic hematoma and they’re not always seen on scans. I found an old thread on here the other day and there were so many women talking about bleeding in pregnancy and things ended up ok - https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/5145834-bright-red-bleeding-15-weeks-pregnant

As long as scans saying everything ok that’s the main thing x

Of course!! I'm sure you know already! 😆

I'm keeping OK.... I'm officially ten weeks today but I had a missed miscarriage at this stage two years ago so it's very unsettling. I am already questioning whether my boob pain and nausea has gone. They've definitely eased but could just be part of normal fluctuations. I also continue to run to the toilet 40 times a day just to wipe because "I think I feel something". Half the time it's clumps of crinone gel 🤢. This whole thing is an emotional rollercoaster and I can't see it getting easier with time.

How are you? Has your bleeding subsided a bit? Do you have a scan booked in? Xx

Xwx1010 · 03/04/2025 14:23

@BellaRosex its just worry the entire time isn’t it? The furthest we had previously got was 6 weeks so to get to 8 with a heartbeat was really positive - until the bleeding started again!
same I’m always on knicker watch! Mines usually progesterone goop which is just a delight too!
yes stopped now and just a little brown - my symptoms have totally calmed down too if that’s any reassurance. My next scan isn’t for like a month - the standard 12 week. I’ll get in touch with the EPAU if I get anymore bleeding and ask for another maybe around the 10 week mark. Guessing yours is coming up soon xx

Hi All.
I hope everyone is doing okay in this really challenging part of our journeys!
I guess I am looking for some reassurance/tips or wise words from people who actually know what i am going through.
We had our viability scan on weds at 7+5. Everything looked good, baby is measuring spot on for dates and we saw a heartbeat.
I have had previous miscarriages around this stage but babies have measured smaller than they should have.
I am on progesterone injections, cyclogest, clexane and aspirin. I also have really bad nausea all day, breathlessness and tiredness.
Everyone is telling me to relax and that it's different this time and will all be okay but my brain isn't letting me believe that and living in a constant state of anxiety is exhausting!
I am debating having a scan next Sunday which is 10 days past our viability scan and 10 days before our next booked scan with our clinic..but I don't know if this is a little irrational? I'm also scared we might not see a heartbeat again.
Sorry for the long post..any help appreciated!

Ngall24 · 04/04/2025 06:05

My transfer was a 3bb untested embryo because it was the only one that survived..so I do have the worry in my head it might be aneuploid x

OneWaryCat · 04/04/2025 06:21

Hey @Ngall24

Don't worry, you are not alone - it's completely draining and anxiety inducing this process! You are not irrational to want reassurance, especially after everything you have been through to get here.

It all sounds really positive so far so congratulations. I know it's hard to 'enjoy'.

I think there is absolutely no harm in addional private scans if it helps relieve your anxiety. I've had 2 extra private scans and I'm 11 weeks. Currently clinging on for my 12 week scan next Friday.

The longest my anxiety will allow me to go is 3 weeks before I feel the need to be scanned again and each time we have just done it as the reassurance and joy has been well worth the money alone. I know I have 'saved' weekends by going to be scanned first thing on a Saturday instead of stressing all weekend. And overall its much better for me and the baby.

It's also about taking care of yourself and doing what is best for you, rather than what you think others would say.

I'm well aware my experience of pregnancy has been so different to those lucky enough to conceive naturally. I can't imagine anyone going 12 weeks before a first scan, or even being able to properly enjoy a positive pregnancy test and feel secure in the pregnancy.

I am hoping when I get further along I will start to relax and enjoy it more but my recent set back of a heavy bleed has thrown me and now more anxious than ever. Just going to take it easy now and do whatever I need to to get through it. Suggest you do the same. 🙂

captainsmal · 04/04/2025 08:20

I agree if it makes you feel better/calmer and you can afford it, there’s no harm going for private scans to ease your mind. I’m so nervous for my 7 week one and still have 13 days to go. I also transferred an untested embryo so get that worry too

Has anyone cut off coffee completely? I’ve been letting myself have one cup a day before I swap to decaf as it said up to 200mg is okay, but just seen an article saying shop coffee (Greggs) has more caffeine than normal coffee? Now I’m worrying 😭

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 04/04/2025 08:49

I’ve totally switched to decaf, although I will have an occasional tea. I decided it was easier to just cut it out but it also might be why I’m so sleepy all the time!

captainsmal · 04/04/2025 09:10

@PrincessofLiechtenstein Ive got decaf tea and coffee at home but been having one greggs latte before work in the morning but wondering if I should stop completely now. It’s within the 200mg limit on the nhs website but I think I’d rather be overly cautious lol

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 04/04/2025 10:25

I don’t think it’s the end of the world, I cut off before FET as I read somewhere it might affect implantation (although actually that study said more than 2 cups a day so definitely being over cautious 😅)

Have a look at different shops caffeine content though. My coffee shop choice is a pret or Costa which came out quite high, Starbucks is a lot lower I think.

BellaRosex · 04/04/2025 14:53

My first trimester nausea has completely turned me off all coffee/ tea!! It's a blessing and a curse 🤣

Xwx1010 · 04/04/2025 15:24

@BellaRosex me too!

I was having one coffee and then decaf before I got nauseous but since about week 5 I’ve not touched it.

Nausea has definitely lifted - still ALOT food aversions though.

OneWaryCat · 04/04/2025 18:43

Decaf tea is just not the same 😢

LincolnshireHollyhock · 05/04/2025 19:38

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well. I’ve been really unwell the past 24hours - think it’s food poisoning as I kept needing to go to the toilet.

Now I’m getting really worried that this might affect my 5 week old poppy seed!

it’s a constant worry!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 06/04/2025 08:02

Oh no, really sorry to hear that @LincolnshireHollyhock. Do you know what you might have picked it up from?

I think you should probably contact your GP or the clinic and let them know. They may want to know what strain it is and they might treat you. Try to drink lots of electrolytes and stay hydrated. Hope you feel better soon x

We went out for something to eat and I had some smoked salmon for a starter. It was definitely that - in the night I had quite bad diarrhoea and it lasted a few hours.

I feel better now but tummy is a bit sore. Do you think it could affect things? @PrincessofLiechtenstein

captainsmal · 06/04/2025 11:07

@LincolnshireHollyhock I don’t know about food poisoning but I stupidly ate an entire tub of green olives (my pregnancy craving has been salt lol) in one go not realising they can have a laxative effect, omg sorry tmi but went loo twice after and was pure liquid, it really freaked me out too but I think it’ll be okay!
this was like two days ago now and I definitely still feel pregnant today so I’m sure it’s fine lol. Just keep hydrated and have electrolyte drinks maybe ask your clinic on Monday?

question though- I thought we weren’t allowed smoked salmon when preg?

Thank you for that and I know what you mean in regards to toilet visits 🤣🤣…

What electrolytes would you recommend? I’ve only been having my folic acid and vitamin D.

Ive had a little blood in my poo but I don’t think that’s in correlation to my pregnancy. I hate this constant worry!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 06/04/2025 11:17

Yeah you should ideally avoid it and other cured things like Parma ham chorizo unless it has been cooked until steaming hot.

It’s probably fine but I would let your doctor know. They might want to test and see which bug it is and depending on the outcome they might want to treat you with antibiotics. I think they tend to be a lot more cautious when you are pregnant.

how are you feeling? Hopefully it’s short lived and you are on the mend.

captainsmal · 06/04/2025 11:20

@LincolnshireHollyhock I have become addicted to lucozade sports during stims and now pregnancy lol 😂 or any kind of sports drink like that basically! Smart Water also has electrolytes if you just want plain water, I tend to alternate between the two so I’m not having too much sugar with the lucozade lol
