BFP after IVF: 2025

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

Hi everyone! My daughter was born at 1am this morning (10/12) at exactly 41 weeks by emergency caesarean after 19 hours of active labour with not much progression and a failed epidural ie I basically had no pain relief except gas and air which wasn’t touching it. I also had back labour which didn’t help!

so we went in 7.30pm on the 7th to check in for induction but due to emergencies coming in I didn’t actually get my dilapan inserted til 4.30am on the 8th which was my birthday lol. They were due out 12hrs later but again due to lack of doctors being called to emergencies I ended up having them in the full 24hrs. They broke my waters at 5am on the 9th yesterday morning and I had a couple of hours early labour but didn’t progress to more than 2cm so started the oxytocin drip which sent me into active labour. But unfortunately after 8 hours of contractions every 2-3 minutes I was only up until 3cm although it did get me fully effaced, baby wasn’t engaged yet though. I tried an epidural halfway through as the drip really ramped up the contractions but unfortunately it worked on the right hand side but not the left so I still was in a lot of pain even between contraction and during them it was horrendous as I was on my back the whole time. So at 8pm they moved me into a squatting position which helped a lot and I got gas and air but it was still very painful and not much break between them! By midnight I had got to 5cm but I was having really bad involuntary pushing which obviously is bad if you’re pushing when not dilated! The dr said I could basically go 4 more hours but I hadn’t slept in a day at that point and I had no energy left, potentially would’ve been another 10-12 hours worth of labour plus it was only 5hrs away from my waters breaking 24hr cutoff time before they would’ve offered a section anyway, so I said just get her out of me. Baby was fine and healthy it was more my mental and physical health at that point! Even though I was so scared of needing a c section it went so smoothly, once I was in she was out within ten mins! I got skin to skin for an hour while they stitched me, but I lost a lot of blood like 3 times the amount that’s “safe” and I went tachycardic on the table so they were really worried for a while but managed to control it and get me sorted! DH was in recovery with the baby for about half an hour before I was wheeled in but I got to latch her immediately and she fed for over 2 hours 😅 they also said when they got her out she was sunny side up so it would’ve been a hard birth either way so I’m glad I got the section in the end!
ive only had an hours sleep so far in like 32 hours now but im running on adrenaline lol 😂 baby’s amazing, I just feel a bit sore and still all attached to catheters/drips etc but they’re going to try and get me mobile and taken off it all hopefully soon, just waiting to get blood test results whether I need a transfusion because of the blood loss 🤞🏻

anyway long post but I’m just on cloud 9!! And having experienced the natural labour and the c section, honestly it was so smooth compared to what was happening all day beforehand!

Huge congratulations- I’m so happy for you. How are you feeling now?

I have my induction tomorrow afternoon - been trying everything to get this baby going but it doesn’t seem to be.

very happy for all the new mums we are starting to see here xx

Congratulations @captainsmal, so pleased your baby is here safely. I’m sorry that the birth experience was a bit stressful but so pleased your baby is here safe and sound!

Good luck with your induction @LincolnshireHollyhockhope things move quickly for you

Thanks guys, unfortunately we’re still in hospital 😭 baby is fine but I woke up the morning after my section literally dripping sweat, feeling awful and weak, could barely move or talk and when they checked my temp was crazy and my stomach was all hot and bloated. They thought it might be sepsis it was so scary, had about 4 doctors rush into my cubicle and sooo much blood and swabs taken etc. I literally thought I was dying or something with how much they were panicking! Anyway they changed my antibiotics and I felt so much better, by the afternoon I was sitting up and talking etc. We still have to stay in until I’ve had a certain amount of decent blood tests in a row and I’m still on a drip etc which is great trying to breastfeed lol but we’re really hoping today so 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@LincolnshireHollyhock I really hope your induction went/is going smoothly! Let us know how you get on 🥰

So…….baby boy born 12/12/25 via emergency Caesarian section (7.2lbs)

I made it to 5cms dilated at home with a tens machine.

Waited until my induction which was booked in for 1pm until I came in. Because of how my contractions were progressing they sent me straight up to labour ward as I didn’t need the induction help!

Continued with contractions in my own room (labour ward) with tens machine and gas and air.

Emergency buzzer got pulled as baby’s heart rate dipped. Everyone flew in to access but agreed it was okay as it recovered.

Continued through contractions upto 8cms dilated still using gas and air/ tens machine.
Emergency buzzer got called again everyone including our consultant flew in. Consultant was quite adamant and quick to say baby needs to come out now and quickly as showing signs of distress/ lower heart rate. I got flown into theatre on a cat 1 for a section!
All was fine sorting me out and baby was all good (he had part of the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck hence the dip in heart rate).
Last drama of the evening, a training doctor was assisting with the section and fell unconscious mid way while baby was pulled from out of me!

Such a crazy couple of days but we are grateful to all be here safe and sound 🥰

Baby has struggled with saliva when laying down (almost chokes) so hoping this might just be the mucus making its way out.

how is everyone???

captainsmal · 14/12/2025 17:00

@LincolnshireHollyhock congratulations!! How are you doing? I found the recovery a struggle since we’ve essentially been through a full labour then the c section on top! Let me know if you want any tips since I’m a few days ahead of you. My baby had the mucus first day too, it’s because they don’t get it squeezed out coming through the birth canal but mine stopped after that first day. Omg the dr collapsing though! My husband made the mistake of looking over the curtain and he felt a bit woozy lol 😂

We finally got home last night after a long 6 days in hospital! Setting so much better now though

Good luck everyone else who’s still waiting, I promise it’s so so so worth it, like all that trauma of infertility/IVF has disappeared from my mind 🥰

Sorry I have been so busy I haven’t checked this thread for ages!

Sorry that you’ve been so sick @captainsmalglad that you have made it home now though and hope that you have been settling in nicely.

Congratulations @LincolnshireHollyhockIt does sound like a crazy few days but really really glad that you and the baby are ok. Hope his breathing has cleared up by now.

Cant believe the doctor fainted- he’s never going to live that down! 😂

Currently in a car that is packed to the brim and heading to my parents for Christmas. I hope you all have a restful time planned. 🎄❤️
