BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

Hang in there @Xwx1010

i had very heavy bleeding yesterday at 11 weeks and was in a&e hysterically crying thinking it was all over but the baby was fine and the bleed was elsewhere in my uterus. I was so shocked as there was a lot of blood loss.

Do you have any cramping or shoulder pain?

The gynaecologist was cross my clinic got me to stop progesterone pessaries at 7 weeks so I’m back on them now.

good luck, hope it works out for you. Xxxx

Xwx1010 · 02/04/2025 17:36

Cant quite believe it, but all is ok. Measuring bang on at 8+1 and nearly at 2cm in size.
very small old bleed seen by lining but nothing near sac or actively bleeding now. Probably just a sensitive cervix.
my sickness came back early this week for a few days too but having a better day today. In shock to be honest x

@OneWaryCat thanks -
hope you’re feeling relieved and glad is all ok. It’s not ectopic I’ve already had a scan at 6w. Also had two ectopics previously (neither with shoulder pain either!) so it’s well on my radar. X

OneWaryCat · 02/04/2025 17:56

@Xwx1010 is that what the shoulder pain relates to then? I literally had no idea why they were asking me about shoulder pain. So glad you got good news. X

captainsmal · 02/04/2025 18:09

@Xwx1010 @OneWaryCat so glad both your bleeds turned out okay, could be sensitive cervix I heard it can bleed after sex etc (not that I’ve tried since well before ET I’m too paranoid 🙈) or those haemotoma things?

Has anyone else had loads of twinging and what feels like almost burning uterus pains? And almost feels like I’ve pulled a muscle between my vagina and belly button? Is that what they call round ligament pain already? First pregnancy so absolutely clueless about any of this tbh! I’m assuming it’s just stuff stretching out for the baby but I’m just so worried constantly about every little thing 😭

LincolnshireHollyhock · 02/04/2025 19:34

Hi everyone,

I hope I’m okay joining. I had my otd today which was positive.

How is everyone?

Did you work out when it’s safe to have sex? @captainsmal 😆

My first scan is booked for 22nd of April. Xx

Xwx1010 · 02/04/2025 19:34

@captainsmal sex is definitely off the cards for us and has been a while! Couldn’t possibly induce that worry into the mix of things 😂

I’ve had 4 lots of spotting now so I think anymore going forward (unless amount/consistency/colour changes) I’m really going to try and not panic as much as clearly baby is growing ok.

my sensations are like a pulling / dull ache - I also feel kind of hollow sometimes even though I’m not hungry. I sometimes feel like my abdomen is really tender too - I think that’s more bloating / bowel progesterone related too. I’ve never had round ligament pain with mine so not too sure on the burning sensation. Might be worth an ask on the main pregnancy forum?

how you feeling about the little wait for your scan?

@OneWaryCat yes! They rekon if there is a build up of fluid or blood (from a tube rupture) it can press on a certain nerve which results in shoulder pain. Mine have never ruptured though or been particularly big - one I had medication for and the other resolved itself.
that’s essentially why I’ve ended up doing IVF as consultant said this route is quicker than waiting for tube removal and we bypass the tubes so should be much less risky for me.

After having two we decided it was too risky to keep trying naturally and so upsetting/stressful. Hopefully I can get the tube out eventually.

Have you had your 12 week scan yet or is it soon? X

@LincolnshireHollyhock @Xwx1010 my clinic said 10 days after EC which was more to do with risk of multiples if there’s any uncollected eggs left behind etc but I’m just being overly paranoid I think. I have a very very very high drive so it’s kinda killing me and pregnancy hormones have ramped it up x1000 so now I just keep having sex dreams every night 😂😂 I think some of my pain is bowels/wind as well tbh. The main pregnancy forum kinda scares me at the moment 😬

Two weeks til my scan. I’m excited but also I think I’ll be stressed til I know everything is okay. Have this weird fear that I’ve made up this entire pregnancy and at the scan they’ll be like wtf are you on 😅

So are we allowed sex or not? 😅😅😅

My scan is 3 weeks away - interesting your scan is one week sooner!

Xwx1010 · 02/04/2025 20:19

@LincolnshireHollyhock i think you’re allowed but I’m too scared to 😂

Me too!!! 😆😆

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 02/04/2025 21:05

My clinic said abstain for two weeks after transfer but as I started spotting last time I’ve told DH no more sex in 2025 😂

@Xwx1010So pleased to hear your news after your scan. Congratulations and I hope you are feeling much better now.

I finally got my scan date today- 15th April which still seems ages away. Just have to hope things are ok until then.

Still don’t have a lot of symptoms but I am very bloated and a bit crampy.

captainsmal · 02/04/2025 21:19

@LincolnshireHollyhock I’ll be 7+1 by my scan, what week are they doing yours?

@PrincessofLiechtenstein mines 17th which yeah seems ages but really only two weeks 😅 the whole ivf process seems to have flown by and I didn’t think I’d be pregnant this soon but now it’s dragging lol

Our scan is at the 8 week mark.

Part of me wants to get excited but equally I don’t want to get carried away until at least things have been checked.

how are you doing? @OneWaryCat

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 03/04/2025 07:42

@Ngall24i found pregnacare really rough when I was taking it pre-conception. Horrible burps and also made number 2s like black tar. I’ve switched to a combination of zita sweet or wild nutrition (depending on who has the best offers on!) and they have been much better, although twice the price

captainsmal · 03/04/2025 07:53

@LincolnshireHollyhock same here I think I’ll let myself get a bit excited after the scan and I know it’s all okay and in the right place

Xwx1010 · 03/04/2025 07:55

I’ve had a lot of red bleeding - like start of period overnight, had to use a pad. Seems to have stopped now and going brown, really hope it was just an old bleed or something passing out. It’s definitely worse when I push for a wee/no2 so going go take some fybrogel today as the constipation from the progesterone is no joke. I know I have a fibroid on my cervix too so wondering if the transvaginal scan has irritated it.
Trying not to panic given scan was all good and just have the nice day I had planned but god this is such a rollercoaster.

hope everyone else doing ok symptom/anxiety wise x

What did you go for with wild nutrition?

I was just literally looking at the website and it sounds quite good. Do you go direct on the website or Holland/Barratt?

captainsmal · 03/04/2025 08:12

@Xwx1010 hope all is okay 🤞🏻 might just be your cervix as you say but I get how worrying it must be

Ngall24 · 03/04/2025 08:14

Thanks for this regarding the vitamins!
I'm going to stop the pregnacare max and see if it makes a difference. My clinic said I only really need folic acid and vitamin d now so I have some basic ASDA ones il give a try.
Ive also had wild nutrition for conception but agree they are very pricey!
@Xwx1010 I hope everything is okay. It's just a hard time. I had a scan yesterday and everything was fine but it only reassured me for 5 minutes.. now I am worrying something is going to happen between now and our next scan in 3 weeks! X

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 03/04/2025 08:26

@Xwx1010im sorry that must be really distressing but hopefully it is just cervical irritation from the scan. You should tell your clinic/midwife though. You know that baby was ok yesterday and the other spotting hasn’t been a problem so hopefully you can rationalise and keep positive.

I got them on Amazon the first time but went with the website this time as they had a 25% off offer. Holland and Barrett might have them on 342 I think?

I got the pregnancy and the fish oil ones. Have been good so far.

Xwx1010 · 03/04/2025 08:31

@Ngall24 i get super strength vit d from Amazon.
Watch out for the Asda pregnancy vits they don’t have enough folic acid in! As do a lot of the cheapie ones!

was hoping my scan would provide some
longer reassurance than a few hours until I started to bleed but looks like this is going to be a constant cycle of bleeding worry and scans so I’m going to just have to get better at not loosing my mind every time.

@captainsmal I thought the 2ww wait was bad but time definitely stands still when waiting for these scans!

OP posts:
captainsmal · 03/04/2025 08:40

@Xwx1010 I agree I think this is a harder wait than 2ww to be honest! I also found the wait between EC and Day 5 update was hard. At least during 2ww there’s that hope lol.
wait I’m using Asda pregnancy ones, I thought they had the daily amount of folic in? I’ll have to check when I get home

Xwx1010 · 03/04/2025 09:52

@captainsmal they may have changed but last year they were low on a few things.
I've just checked online and it’s the vit D not folic acid it’s low on (sorry don’t panic!)

The proceive ones I use provide folic acid in the L-methylfolate form, which is think is better for absorption but who knows given I’m yet to have a successful pregnancy.

maybe get an additional vit d supplement if you’re happy on the Asda ones?

I take additional b12 and fish oil too x

OP posts:
captainsmal · 03/04/2025 10:16

@Xwx1010 oh that’s okay then I’m on 2000iu vitamin D prescribed from the doctor cos I’m severely deficient apparently, they reckon that might be why I could never fall pregnant before cos it affects implantation!
