BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

@LincolnshireHollyhock good luck at your scan! I’m 38 weeks today so I have the midwife. I think my bump has dropped now, it looked different yesterday! I’ve had a lot of random mild period like cramps on and off so I hope something is happening lol. Yeah I did my birth plan with the midwife at the 36 weeks appointment and my hospital bag is all ready so just waiting now 😅

@LincolnshireHollyhock our baby’s femur is also lagging behind compared to head and abdominal circumference although doctor keeps saying it may just be genes. I am not entirely convinced because husband and I are tall and when I mentioned this she said femur could catch up and that they will check at 36 weeks. I wonder if I should push for a scan sooner? My last was at 20 weeks and next is 36 weeks.

38 week scan went well - baby femur is a little on the smaller side but consultant said he isn’t overly worried as they will continue to grow when born.

two weeks today until my due date! Booked in for another scan in two weeks and possible sweep 🙃

captainsmal · 20/11/2025 21:42

@LincolnshireHollyhock I’m having a sweep on Wednesday at 39 weeks so I’ll let you know how it goes! Induction at 40 if not.

anyone else getting really bad mood swings now it’s the end? Like I feel anxious, restless, then I’m getting really pissed off with hubs for no reason and then I’m like sad/depressed lol 😂

captainsmal · 26/11/2025 12:43

How’s everyone getting on? I had midwife this morning at 39 weeks and she tried to do a sweep but apparently my cervix is still totally closed and the baby is only 4/5 engaged so it doesn’t look like anything is happening anytime soon lol. Gutted cos I’ve had so many cramps I was convinced I’d be at least a couple cm dilated by now! I’ve got my final growth scan Friday then another midwife and sweep next Wednesday but she’s booked my induction in now- hilariously for the evening before my birthday so by the time they’ve waited the 12hrs for the rods to work and then broken my waters the next morning I might be sharing my birthday with my daughter!

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 28/11/2025 22:10

How’s everyone doing? Pleased to say that I had a healthy baby boy at 4.30 on Wednesday, it was a planned C section in the end as I decided I didn’t want to go for an induction. All went very smoothly and we are now home and getting used to each other. He is absolutely adorable and I am smitten.

Despite all the large for gestational age warnings he was a respectable 75th centile 8lb 2!

captainsmal · 29/11/2025 06:17

@PrincessofLiechtenstein congratulations!!

Birthday baby? That’s so exiting! How are you feeling?

i have a sweep Wednesday which I’m not looking forward to and being induced on the 12th if baby doesn’t arrive by then.

Not sure how to feel about being induced.

OMGGGGGGGGGG CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How are you feeling? How was the C section? (Don’t answer now but I’m typing out of excitement…)

Hows our other mum doing @Xwx1010 ?

captainsmal · 29/11/2025 08:46

@LincolnshireHollyhock my sweep wasn’t too bad tbh! After all the ivf stuff I don’t think much phases me anymore lol. I’m having another one on Wednesday at 40wks and if not induction 7th. I think it would be so funny if she arrives on my birthday though but I’m also huge and knackered now so I’m also hoping she might arrive before then 😅

had a final growth scan yesterday and she’s dropped from 22nd to 14th percentile again, I also have really high amounts of fluid for some reason? But they said it’s following the curve of the graph so not too worried about it I don’t think. She had trouble measuring the head as she’s so low now so I’m hoping that means she’s dropped a bit more. Last Wednesday she was only 4/5ths engaged and I was at 0cm so I can’t wait to see if I’ve dilated anything by Wednesday morning lol. Been eating all the dates, drinking pineapple juice, using the yoga ball, walking around loads, eating spicy food you name it lol 😂

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 03/12/2025 04:22

Thanks everyone. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind but overall a really great week. The C-section itself was a bit horrible but bearable! We didn’t go in until 4pm having been nil by mouth since 6am. When I got on the table It took them ages to get the needle in the right place and I nearly fainted, then when the started the anaesthetic my blood pressure dropped loads which was horrible. The anaesthetic was great and sorted me out though. Couldn’t feel anything other than some strange tugging, and stopped caring about that once the baby came out!

Afterwards it was all pretty smooth. Just spent one night on the ward where we didn’t sleep at all! Mostly due to the novelty of the baby- definitely a strategic error! Then they sent us home. First night was then really rough as we were knackered but we are in a bit of a flow now. Baby is feeding well, my milk is definitely in and he’s generally a pretty happy chappy. I’m besotted.

Recovery has been easier than I feared. First day or two was hard to get in and out of bed but it quickly improves. Had my stitches out on Sunday, just taking paracetamol and ibuprofen. The 12 hour slow release ibuprofen has been really good so you have a baseline that doesn’t wear off. All in all I was a bit sad that spontaneous labour didn’t happen but I am generally really pleased with my choices.

I am really hoping to have some good news from those who are still waiting soon!

captainsmal · 03/12/2025 09:21

@PrincessofLiechtenstein that sounds really good and better than you expected!
were you getting any colostrum before you gave birth or did your colostrum/ milk just come in after? I’ve tried hand expressing so many times and literally not even a drip lol

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 04/12/2025 01:07

I managed to collect quite a lot before the baby arrived which did help. It was a slow process at first but once it started it did keep coming. I think it’s a bit pot luck if it works for you though. Trying to be really relaxed and happy first was helpful, but difficult when you are stressing about it working.

All that being said I have found the collected colostrum pretty useless. It’s impossible to get it in the baby’s mouth! 😅

LincolnshireHollyhock · 07/12/2025 13:25

Hope everyone is okay and those with little bundles of joy are settling into parenthood.

I am 40+3 and patiently waiting for this little bubba to join us. Any tips for bringing on labour 😬

captainsmal · 07/12/2025 16:30

@LincolnshireHollyhock 40+4 for me and I’m literally waiting for my phone call to tell me what time to show up for my induction this evening 😅 I tried everything and nothing worked tbh!
I should be having dilapan rods inserted this evening then staying in hospital overnight to let them work, removed 12hrs later and then my waters broken tomorrow morning 🤞🏻🤞🏻 (which is also my birthday haha) so I’m hoping that she’s here soon and it doesn’t drag out for days!

Hi everyone! My daughter was born at 1am this morning (10/12) at exactly 41 weeks by emergency caesarean after 19 hours of active labour with not much progression and a failed epidural ie I basically had no pain relief except gas and air which wasn’t touching it. I also had back labour which didn’t help!

so we went in 7.30pm on the 7th to check in for induction but due to emergencies coming in I didn’t actually get my dilapan inserted til 4.30am on the 8th which was my birthday lol. They were due out 12hrs later but again due to lack of doctors being called to emergencies I ended up having them in the full 24hrs. They broke my waters at 5am on the 9th yesterday morning and I had a couple of hours early labour but didn’t progress to more than 2cm so started the oxytocin drip which sent me into active labour. But unfortunately after 8 hours of contractions every 2-3 minutes I was only up until 3cm although it did get me fully effaced, baby wasn’t engaged yet though. I tried an epidural halfway through as the drip really ramped up the contractions but unfortunately it worked on the right hand side but not the left so I still was in a lot of pain even between contraction and during them it was horrendous as I was on my back the whole time. So at 8pm they moved me into a squatting position which helped a lot and I got gas and air but it was still very painful and not much break between them! By midnight I had got to 5cm but I was having really bad involuntary pushing which obviously is bad if you’re pushing when not dilated! The dr said I could basically go 4 more hours but I hadn’t slept in a day at that point and I had no energy left, potentially would’ve been another 10-12 hours worth of labour plus it was only 5hrs away from my waters breaking 24hr cutoff time before they would’ve offered a section anyway, so I said just get her out of me. Baby was fine and healthy it was more my mental and physical health at that point! Even though I was so scared of needing a c section it went so smoothly, once I was in she was out within ten mins! I got skin to skin for an hour while they stitched me, but I lost a lot of blood like 3 times the amount that’s “safe” and I went tachycardic on the table so they were really worried for a while but managed to control it and get me sorted! DH was in recovery with the baby for about half an hour before I was wheeled in but I got to latch her immediately and she fed for over 2 hours 😅 they also said when they got her out she was sunny side up so it would’ve been a hard birth either way so I’m glad I got the section in the end!
ive only had an hours sleep so far in like 32 hours now but im running on adrenaline lol 😂 baby’s amazing, I just feel a bit sore and still all attached to catheters/drips etc but they’re going to try and get me mobile and taken off it all hopefully soon, just waiting to get blood test results whether I need a transfusion because of the blood loss 🤞🏻

anyway long post but I’m just on cloud 9!! And having experienced the natural labour and the c section, honestly it was so smooth compared to what was happening all day beforehand!
