BFP after IVF: 2025

Xwx1010 · 24/03/2025 18:31

Wondering if anyone else has had a BFN after IVF in the past few months? Guessing if so, most would be due October / November / December.

I just can’t get into the due month groups on the main pregnancy page as my headspace is so different after struggling with infertility back to back losses and IVF.

I’m 7weeks after 5AA transfer in February and have had 1 MMC and 2 ectopics. Due date is 11th November (if I make it that far). No children.

If anyone wants to join this thread please do! 💚

Think we cross posted @LincolnshireHollyhockive just ordered some electrolytes from Ancient & Brave because I’m a sucker for anything that tells me it’s natural 😂

You can just make up your own at home in a pinch. 1litre of water, two tablespoons of sugar. 3/4 teaspoon of salt and half teaspoon of baking soda. I would add loads of fresh lime or lemon juice to hide the flavour!

Glad you are feeling better. Hopefully you are over it quickly and all will be fine

Thank you - it’s a source of comfort having you all here so I don’t feel so alone on this journey.

I read somewhere smoked salmon is ok as long as it’s vacuumed packed/store bought as risk of listeria is tiny but nhs does say to avoid so maybe no more!

I think the only worry with food poisoning or an upset stomach is the dehydration so get some electrolytes down you and I’m sure you'll be fine.

Yeh I did think the same - it was a bit silly on reflection. I feel absolutely fine now apart from a little blood in my poop.

How are you doing with your symptoms etc? Anyone tempted to test again to make sure all is okay or is that just me? 🙃 @Xwx1010 @captainsmal @PrincessofLiechtenstein

captainsmal · 06/04/2025 15:09

@LincolnshireHollyhock I keep being tempted but then I think if it’s not as dark as before or anything I’ll stress myself more by testing than by waiting, only 10 sleeps til my scan now so I’m waiting! 5+4 today and so far symptoms are my boobs are killing me, the odd twinges/cramps sometimes but not always, nausea comes and goes, and really badly craving salt and also lemon squash/lemon lucozade sport lol. Also I have sooo many veins all over my chest and boobs now and they’re bigger already 😅 and I’m having weird dreams a lot and waking up every night around 3am to pee.

I’ve also been having really bad lower backache and hip pain but might just be me, I have fibromyalgia and hyper mobility EDS, had two spinal surgeries in 2022 and they found 4 slipped discs 🙃 so they always kinda warned me that pregnancy might make my back problems worse 🤷🏼‍♀️ been sleeping with a cushion between my knees which helps

Xwx1010 · 06/04/2025 15:22

I had some smoked salmon this week then realised exactly the same if that makes you feel any better!

Feeling ok - still occasionally and mildly nauseous but week 6 was still the worst for me. I’m nearly 9 weeks so I don’t think there’s much point in me testing at this point as I’m sure even if I have miscarried by hcg would still be really high.
the red bleeding on fri has really unnerved me so not feeling confident - I could really do with an interim scan before 12w to let me know baby still ok after bleed - ill maybe ring EPAU and see what they say next week...

@captainsmal ouch that all sounds really painful! Hope you’re ok!

Ps there’s a thing called the hook effect with hcg when you get to a certain point so watch you don’t freak yourself out!

captainsmal · 06/04/2025 15:36

@Xwx1010 thanks it’s not too bad when I’m resting but by the end of a 10hr workday it’s sore, feels like how my back used to be before I had surgery to help it. Obviously can’t take much more than paracetamol now though lol. Gonna look into those pregnancy pillows soon I think 🤔

Hang in there @Xwx1010

i had very heavy bleeding yesterday at 11 weeks and was in a&e hysterically crying thinking it was all over but the baby was fine and the bleed was elsewhere in my uterus. I was so shocked as there was a lot of blood loss.

Do you have any cramping or shoulder pain?

The gynaecologist was cross my clinic got me to stop progesterone pessaries at 7 weeks so I’m back on them now.

good luck, hope it works out for you. Xxxx

Just catching up on the thread. @OneWaryCat Hope you’re doing ok. I’m surprised the clinic told you to stop taking progesterone pessaries because I’ve been told that it needs to be taken for the first couple of months especially as I have a history of recurrent miscarriages.

Yes the early pregnancy unit was also surprised by this. It's my first pregnancy so she said maybe they had a policy that only those with risk or history of miscarriage should continue taking it but personally I now feel that ALL pregnant women should be on it as standard.

I'm definitely going to take it to 16 weeks if not longer.

Fantastic news😍😍 - was this test from your OTD?

spttc · 09/04/2025 14:21

@LincolnshireHollyhock nope that's next Wednesday. My official test is just a home pregnancy test though. Then I have to tell them and they schedule a scan.

Xwx1010 · 09/04/2025 18:57

@FlowersRainbow did you have your scan recently? Really hope it went ok?

@Ngall24 did you book in another for Sunday in the end?

@PrincessofLiechtenstein i think yours is on the same day as my next one, 16th? And
@captainsmal yours is the 17th?

@LincolnshireHollyhock yours the following week?

how are you doing @BellaRosex ? And@OneWaryCat ? hope you’ve had no more bleeding?

@spttc congrats & welcome, how many dpt are you?

Sure someone has one Friday but can’t keep up! Really hoping for good news all round, fingers crossed for all of us

I’ve got the midwife on Tuesday, I’ll be 10 weeks (never ever made it this far and to a booking appointment) then scan with EPAU the following day. Feels like the most nerve wracking one yet given the bigger bleed last week - feel sick thinking about it! X

OP posts:
captainsmal · 09/04/2025 19:03

@Xwx1010 yes bang on mines 17th, only a week to go now! I’m exactly 6 weeks today. Been feeling so queasy but not actually been sick yet 🤮
Having some trouble with my fibro/EDS, they weren’t really sure how pregnancy would affect it but now everything is kinda shifting and stretching down there I’ve had horrible lower backache and my hips feel like they’re going to dislocate so it’s been a bit crap this week. I’m hoping it won’t last the whole 9 months but I’ll have to speak to the midwife about it when I get my first appointment and see what they say 😬

Hopefully you’ll be fine Tuesday but I get how nerve wracking it must be, I’m pretty nervous for next weeks scan too tbh. Let us know how you get on!

BellaRosex · 09/04/2025 19:07

@Xwx1010 congratulations on getting this far! I hope you are keeping well!

I've also never made it this far (11 weeks tomorrow). I went for a reassurance scan on Monday because I woke up thinking my symptoms had disappeared but baby is doing well and I think hormonal fluctuations are common at this stage. I've got my 12 week scan next week, all being well 🥲 x

OneWaryCat · 09/04/2025 19:14

I'm doing good thanks @Xwx1010.

Managing to keep the nerves at bay. I was officially 12 weeks yesterday and it was a week on from my heavy bleed. Been fine so.far.so the progesterone is obviously doing it's job which is good.

I have my 12 week scan on Friday. Feeling quite nervous about it snd keep thinking 'what if', but hoping we can relax and enjoy Friday evening together with some good news.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Xx

Xwx1010 · 09/04/2025 20:07

@captainsmal ah no you said the other day you were in pain, are you still just ok paracetamol? Wonder if codeine would be ok. Are you still managing to work?

@OneWaryCat @BellaRosex so happy your scans were good news,
let us know how you get on Friday/next week if you can

my nausea has been full on the last few days, I basically work from bed and sleep as much as possible. Not being sick either but still pretty rough

x

OP posts:
captainsmal · 09/04/2025 21:27

@Xwx1010 paracetamol only in pregnancy unfortunately which doesn’t really do much. I’m still working my really long days which prob isn’t helping but I want to try and keep it up if I can because then I’ll get more maternity pay when it comes to it. I’m hoping after first trimester it’s ok to use hot water bottles/heat packs again because that’ll probably be the most help tbh

Hiya, yes my 7 week scan is on the 22nd April. Feeling nervous about it, as I hope everything is in the right place and the little seed is doing okay!

Any advice for this stage?

I hope you are doing well - nearly at the 12 week mark is fantastic!

Xwx1010 · 09/04/2025 22:02

@LincolnshireHollyhock wish I had some words of wisdom but I’ve been a nervous wreck for weeks . Keeping busy and distracting self is the most obvious one. I might actually get a jigsaw. When my hands are free I just start googiling!

@captainsmal so rubbish I hope the midwife can suggest something to help; you’re a trooper doing such long days /
Physically demanding work x

Ngall24 · 10/04/2025 07:36

Hi everyone

Hope you are all doing okay and thank you all so much for your advice and support following my previous post.

@Xwx1010 we have a scan booked for Sunday. I will be 8 weeks and 2 days. I am hoping it provides me with some reassurance to last until our 10 week scan on the 24th April. Part of me is expecting to not see the heartbeat even though there is no reason to suggest this..its just pure pregnancy after loss brain!
My nausea is next level and I have been nauseous all day every day for the last 2 weeks..hoping that is also a good sign as I never had any symptoms with my last two losses! X

PrincessofLiechtenstein · 10/04/2025 07:42

Congrats and welcome @spttcreally happy you have got good news.

yes my scan is next Tuesday @Xwx1010 and I’ve got my booking appointment on Good Friday so nice and close together. Started having some nausea in the last couple of days but then none really yesterday so that’s sent me into a bit of a spiral. I’ve also had slightly brownish discharge for a couple of days so that’s not helping. Trying not to worry too much and push through to next weeks scan. What time is yours @Xwx1010 I am so nervous waiting. Just really hope everything is ok.

The jigsaw is definitely helpful. I’ve also got a sawing project to finish so I will work on that!
