ABC - FET due to oestrogen levels

Hi everyone
I have been chatting in another ABC thread but don't want to take over the chat with this new query I have.

I'm just coming to the end of my stims (trigger tonight) and having egg collection on Monday. My oestrogen levels have shot up and I have to have a frozen transfer (nurse said if it wasn't for covid I could have had fresh but they have lower thresholds in place at the moment).

My questions are basically about the process. We obviously paid the £2500 inclusive price. We had already paid an extra £995 for freezing embryos with the hope we get some for future use, we now have to pay £1050 extra for the frozen transfer plus we have to pay for more meds (nurse said tablets) anyone had to do this and can tell me what they paid so I have an idea please?

I'm assuming we can go ahead with the FET my next cycle? Can anyone give me any insight into the process/procedure/timescales please? I'm unfortunately one of those people who like a clear plan in their head.

Thank you
Hannah

@StarryHannah hey I had my egg collection yesterday got to say it wasn’t great just me being way emotional it’s my 3rd 1 in 8 months I couldn’t sleep night before cried all morning then was very groggy and tearfully after they made me stay there 2 hours after this time I was very groggy with it for some reason sore and tired after but ok today got a phone call this morning all 7 eggs they collected have fertilised so that is fantastic will hear from them Tuesday x doing a frozen cycle due to OhSS

StarryHannah · 30/05/2021 14:19

@Preston12 this is fantastic news! I'm so happy for you. Use this time to rest and recover (physically and mentally). I truly believe fet give us a much better chance of success. I was so unwell after collection if they had gone ahead with a fresh transfer i don't think i would have had a successful outcome. Have you got some time off work to recover? Xxx

@StarryHannah yes I’m off all week so that’s nice fingers crossed they all make it he is ringing me Tuesday x

StarryHannah · 01/06/2021 16:50

@Preston12 I've been thinking of you and your phonecall today.

I had my scan today. It went well. They're measuring 7 weeks 4 days and we got to see a strong heartbeat which was lovely. However, there had been an identical twin who didn't make it. Yolk and fetal pole there but no fetal heartbeat. I'm having another scan in two weeks ... nothing to be concerned about but just to be sure all is okay with surviving baby. Xxx

Hi, @StarryHannah - been reading your thread. How's it going? I had previously done an IVF abroad and out of 20 eggs only 2 made it to blastocyst, 6 early blastocyst and 6 morula. the blastocyst I had were not fully expanded so I think they were 3AB same like yours. The consultant was not very encouraging and told me the success rates are only 30% for those embroys so since then I have been very disheartened and not gone back to do my transfer. I am currently doing one here and only had 50% fertilisation so far Sad

Can I know how's your preg going after your 3A transfer, how many did you transfer? and did you do PGD too? And what's your age.

Thank you x

StarryHannah · 20/06/2021 21:18

@Rj1988 Hello :)

I'm 37 and will be 38 in August
This is my first ever pregnancy. It was my first ever transfer too and it was frozen.

I'm 10 weeks 2 days and my pregnancy is going really well.

I had one embryo transferred... a 5 day 3AB.

What is PGD? If it's embryo testing we didn't do anything like that.

I'm sorry to hear your consultant wasn't very positive about the grading.

3AB was my best embryo. We have a 3BB and an early blastocyst (that wasn't developed enough to grade) both frozen and my clinic referred to them all as 'good embryos.'

What clinic are you with? I'm with ABC IVF and they're wonderful xxx

@StarryHannah hey hun how’s it all going I have my scan Thursday to see if my ovaries have gone down so I can have my transfer end off July x

StarryHannah · 21/06/2021 15:01

Hi @Preston12
All is good ta. I had to go to a and e last Sunday as woke up to having had quite a nasty bleed, had scan on Tuesday and everything was okay. They said it just happens to some women and there's nothing for me to worry about Smile

How are you feeling? Xxx

Rj1988 · 21/06/2021 16:40

@StarryHannah - I am doing mine from guys st Thomas. I hope your bleeding has stopped. Still waiting to hear if any of them made it to day 5.

By the way did they give you a reason why you were bleeding?

StarryHannah · 21/06/2021 22:25

@Rj1988 yes after i woke up to quite a lot of blood on the bed, but then only a couple of specks when I wiped that day, then nothing at all.

They said lots of women experience bleeding with no explanation... could be because my period would have been due that time, could be implantation bleeding even though over 9 weeks and pretty heavy or it could even be bleeding from twin that didn't make it (there was only a sac and small fetal pole at 7 weeks). They said nothing to worry about though as these things happen and the baby is fine xxx

@StarryHannah - it's great to hear that it's normal, the internet can be really scary about these things! I wish a you all the best with your preg. Hope it goes very smooth BiscuitDaffodil

Hello. I hope you don’t mind me joining this thread but reading some of the comments it’s helped me to understand more about FET. Sometimes I feel the communication with ABC isn’t always clear.

I had a FET and found out on Monday it failed, the embryo was a 5BB and had hatched so I am just waiting for my bleed. I didn’t actually know that a grade 5 was high until reading this thread! I am a teacher so have taken this next week off to just come to terms with things. I didn’t expect it to work first time but it still doesn’t prepare you for the sense of loss.

My partner and I do have 3 left in the freezer another grade 5 and two grade 4s so we are lucky. My partner is 41 and I am 28, he does already have a 14 year old child with someone else although has never been confident it’s his child. He previously TTC with someone else for over 5 years and he is really concerned that even though our embryos look healthy in the lab that there is still something wrong with them.

We did have testing via the NHS which said we had unexplained infertility but Create said the NHS sperm test was borderline even though the hospital still claim his sperm test was fine. When he did the sperm sample we had a phone call to say it was low and that we needed ICSI.

After this failed attempt he wants to look into PGT testing but don’t know whether it’s best to leave it be and just try again as it’s our first try. The transferred our embryo on Day 22 of my cycle and my period was due around Day 26 so I did worry it was too late for a transfer but when I questioned about it for reassurance I didn’t get the reassurance I needed. It’s really difficult when you see so many consultants and they have different opinions.

Sorry for the long message, it’s just nice to vent it out to people who understand.
Xx

Hello!

Yes it did. Second time round, my baby Ada-May is 2 in April! Hope all worked out for you xx

StarryHannah · 10/01/2024 18:45

@Hopeful1234567 Aww congratulations on your little girl 💗Amazing news. I'm so happy for you🥰

The baby I was pregnant with when making these posts above was my little girl who was two last week. I also had a little boy in October. Both IVF babies from ABC. They were both frozen embryos from the very first cycle we did. Both my transfers have worked so we've been super lucky and we still have one embryo frozen.

I'm so pleased you've had lovely news to share too ❤️ xxx
