Our old clomid thread is no longer allowing new comments, and it's taken me 24 hours and multiple failed comments to understand why - we filled it up So thought I'd start a new one...

Yes @Marmite83 - told him and had to tell my mum as she’s always tried to give me hope when I’ve been down... both were balling their eyes out...very happy, still quite shocked but so so grateful.

Hurray @Zara84, I knew it would’ve got darker. I hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months.

@Zara84 and @Dinosauraddict do you know how many days before you ovulated you BD’d.

My dominant follicle was 18mm yesterday, but opk is still negative, we BD’d yesterday, but the nurse did say to abstain until it goes positive to ensure the best quality swimmers.

DP has gone out into town tonight and is likely to try it on when he gets home, but I’ve already warned him that we should probably wait until tomorrow so we’re at least doing EOD, not every day. Especially if opk doesn’t go positive for another couple of days.

seven201 · 06/07/2019 22:14

Oh wow!!!

Congratulations @Dinosauraddict and @Zara84 such exciting news! 👶🏻

Dinosauraddict · 06/07/2019 22:25

Thank you everyone!!

@doomkittycleo our clinic took a different approach and said that as sperm could live 5-7 days and the egg would only be around for 24 hours she wanted us to 'flood it' in advance. She actually said that BDing in advance was most important. We BD'd each of the 3 days before, the day of ovulation, and the day after...

Although I do wonder if it would depend on the man's sperm quality? My DH'd was very good all round (donor quality, of which he was quite proud) so perhaps it would've been different if his were slightly lower quality?

@Dinosauraddict they had no concerns about DP’s sperm at all, he had really good results. I think the reasoning is that once the opk turns positive it could be up to 3 days before actual ovulation, so the sperm from 2-3 days before might not survive by then.

Both the private clinic and the nhs one have said to abstain for a few days before positive opk, but I’ve missed my surge the past couple of cycles due to ovulating really early on clomid.

I’m hoping it goes positive tomorrow so at least I’ll know.

At least we DTD yesterday so there’s some in the bank if it does go early.

Dinosauraddict · 06/07/2019 22:51

Fingers crossed for opk tomorrow then @doomkittycleo. Ours was a little different as never did opks as it was monitored with scans every other day and stimulation injection too so perhaps that's why clinic took different approach...

Hi @doomykittycleo - I was told to BD 3 -5 days after taking my trigger shot by the clinic ... we tried a day before the trigger shot and upto 6 days after. So 7 days in a row.
I promise you will get your bfp really soon...stay positive and it will happen so soon, best wishes for it.

Zara84 · 06/07/2019 22:59

@doomkittycleo (not doomy!

doomkittycleo · 06/07/2019 23:09

@Zara84 7 days in a row wow 😮. I think I’d be sick of the sight of DP after that.

I don’t get a trigger shot, I got the scan this cycle for free as it was “off the record”.

Apparently if we did it official it would be £500 per cycle but the trigger shot would be offered too. As I seemed to ovulate last cycle they must assume the trigger shot wouldn’t be necessary anyway.

These short cycles are as much of a curse as they are a blessing.

Zara84 · 06/07/2019 23:27

Yeah I wouldn’t advise the 7 days in a row - we haven’t BD’d since as sick of it, and i do think it was overkill!
The trigger shot - my clinic did say it isn’t always necessary but because my cycles were not consistent they advised to use it as timing just wasn’t making sense with changing cycles

doomkittycleo · 07/07/2019 13:01

Opk is still negative, but the ovulation pains are getting really intense on the side where the dominant follicle was when I had the scan.

It’s gone from a dull pain to a sharp pain, so I’m guessing I better ignore the opks and listen to my body. Gonna have to jump on DP later.

Pinktruffle · 07/07/2019 13:19

Congratulations @Zara84 and @Dinosauraddict. Fantastic to finally get some BFP's in here , hopefully it's the first of many. I hope you both have happy and healthy pregnancies x

Dinosauraddict · 07/07/2019 16:02

Sorry girls I didn't get an email that there was a new thread. Thanks for setting it up @Dinosauraddict! I've not read all the posts how is everyone? Have I missed much? X

Jesskir89 · 07/07/2019 16:55

Just seen the news 2 pregnancies!!! Congratulations girls x

Tealismycolour · 07/07/2019 16:57

Wow! Congratulations for the two BFPs.

It’s my first cycle on clomid 100mg days 3-7. I had an ultrasound on CD 13 and my biggest follicle was 21 and ready. So I went to have the HCG 10,000 trigger shot straight away.

My fertility consultant wasn’t on duty and so it was another consultant who administered the shot (based on the advice from my consultant on the phone). This consultant didn’t explain anything to me and I didn’t really ask any questions either.

It’s now CD 24 and 11 days post trigger shot and I really don’t know what to do or when to POAS.

My Dh asked his friend who is a fertility consultant at the same hospital and his advice was day after AF is due. However, I don’t know when that would be! The whole reason I was on clomid was because my cycles were very irregular and my consultant thought this would give us a good chance to conceive.

Any advice ladies?

Btw I’m based outside of the UK so my experience could be a little bit different.

squirrelnutkins1 · 07/07/2019 19:23

I'm on cd9 and had a bit of pink spotting today. Any ideas why? 🤔 x

Dinosauraddict · 07/07/2019 20:44

Thanks @Jesskir89 and @Tealismycolour. Teal I was told to test 16dpo but that's quite late and most clinics tell you to test around 14dpo I believe. (I made it to 15dpo but couldn't hold out the extra day!)

doomkittycleo · 07/07/2019 22:39

@squirrelnutkins1 could it be ovulation spotting? I know it’s early, but clomid can shorten your cycles.
