Our old clomid thread is no longer allowing new comments, and it's taken me 24 hours and multiple failed comments to understand why - we filled it up So thought I'd start a new one...

I'm pretty sure PMT has hit me hard. My mood absolutely plummeted yesterday, and now I'm trying not to cry at my desk. I had convinced myself that this was our month, but I knew it would devastate me if AF arrived even more this month as it feels like this is our first actual shot at it. The hope is the worst. I'm just so exhausted by it all.

I'm 9dpo so tempted to use my cheap tests tomorrow and Sunday, and maybe crack out my FRER on Monday when I'll be 12dpo. I reckon if that's a BFN then I'm out for the month. AF due next Friday.

I just text a friend about the PMT (she knows what's going on) and she replied "I hope it improves!". I'm like NO, IT MEANS I'M NOT PREGNANT AND THIS IS A DISASTER so yeah, not a good day for me.

Thanks for listening to my rant! Still keeping my fingers crossed for you all, and me.

Hi all,

Took a while to find an active thread but glad I did! I've been reading the last thread and just want to say thank you all for sharing. I find it so hard to talk about this without being looked at like something is wrong with me.

Anywho summary of me below:

  • Live in London.
  • 29 yrs old
  • TTC 20-21 months
  • Lost 40 lbs since Nov 2018(had to lower BMI to get referred to Fertility clinic, which is now 27, yay!)
  • This year done all bloods, SA, Hycosy (that was a nightmare) all came out fine
  • diagnosed with PCOS in 2017, Latest scan showed I have 1 cyst on right ovary, but left looks fine. Which seems promising

Next appointment is on Wednesday for treatment! Most likely Clomid. They say I get 6 rounds usually and put me on list for IVF in Jan if all fails. I'm a bit nervous to say the least and trying hard not to overthink, but definitely excited to get the ball rolling!

girlrunningoncheese · 23/08/2019 11:08

Hi ladies!

6DPO for me so nearly halfway through the 2WW. Don't feel very pg though - don't feel any different at all really Confused it's hard to get the balance right between staying positive and not getting your hopes up! Have acupuncture this afternoon so at least I have a relaxing start to the BH weekend.

@ClomidCarrowThanks for you - absolutely know what you mean about the hope being the worst. Actually we are cycle buddies so I really do feel your pain! Do you have anything nice planned for the weekend to try and take your mind off it?

@Rinoa welcome! And congrats on the weight loss, I'm sure that will make things easier (if only so the medical folk stop blaming everything on weight etc, seems an easy get-out sometimes!). I hope your appointment goes well and you can join us on the Clomid Train very soon!

Marmite83 · 23/08/2019 11:45

@ClomidCarrow, I've had bad PMT (probably worse than normal) before all of my bfps. It definitely doesn't mean it's all over this cycle so try to stay positive. The hormones in early pregnancy are so similar to AF ones that there really is no way to know until AF appears or you POAS. I've got everything crossed for you

ClomidCarrow · 23/08/2019 12:30

@girlrunningoncheese Thanks Smile How are you feeling? I think this last bit of the TWW is definitely the worst!

Hello @Rinoa Welcome! Well done on losing 40 lbs. That's an incredible achievement.

@Marmite83 Thanks so much, that's really encouraging. It's so easy to let my head run away with me! I've got a whole week before AF is due so I need to reign it in!

Rinoa · 23/08/2019 13:34

@ClomidCarrow @girlrunningoncheese thanks! Actually losing weight has helped my overall mood and even sex drive! So I’m definitely proud, fyi I lost it in solely diet! I mean I do yoga here and there and long walks but no gym. Low carb is the way.

I’ve read so many of the side effects you girls and many others have and seems I already get that on the regular (minus hot flashes) so hopefully nothing new to me haha pcos makes me so moody, but once I recognise that I’m coming up to a mood i let myself express it for 5 min, cry, sulk, yell into a pillow. Then I try to do things that help take my mind off. It works sometimes.

girlrunningoncheese · 23/08/2019 13:44

@ClomidCarrow feeling ok but I think it's going to start dragging now - last cycle was my first with Clomid so I had a progesterone test on CD21 which helped break up the 2WW. Trying to focus on eating healthily and generally doing calming things like yoga and reading - am sure it will make zero difference to conceiving but helps to think I am doing something positive!

@Rinoa yep, I dabble with low carb and have been quite hardcore in the past - it's definitely the way forward. And it eliminates a lot of processed, sugary food by default which I think can only be a good thing when you're trying to keep your body in tip-top baby-making condition! I like your idea of giving yourself 5 minutes to react to your moods and then going to do something else to distract. Will try and keep that in mind next time I get baby bombed Confused

Rinoa · 23/08/2019 13:51

@girlrunningoncheese Yea even cut out drinking which was hard at first but now I don’t even crave it. It’s so weird if you would have asked me 3 years ago if I wanted kids, I’d say “eh maybe” and now I’m fully for it. Think God is testing how bad I want it! Lol don’t worry enjoy the BH and the 2ww will fly by!

Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday ! Sorry in advance for by run on posts as you can see I’m excited/nervous for Wednesday!

AmyMaria2 · 23/08/2019 23:16

Hi everyone, I'm 9dpo and I ovulated cd13 ( know by scans bloods & opks) however today just out of curiosity I did an opk and got a really dark line, do you think there's any reason for this? I wish I didn't do it now! Lol x

Rinoa · 24/08/2019 10:09

@AmyMaria2 I think sometimes your hormones fluctuate which cause that or I've read if you're pregnant opk will come out positive. But I'd say just wait then test !

ClomidCarrow · 24/08/2019 11:13

10dpo and BFN. Hoping it's still just too early 🤞

Rinoa · 24/08/2019 12:18

@ClomidCarrow yes sounds too early, try to wait and test in a week (I know easier said than done!)

Goingbacktokansascity · 24/08/2019 19:17

@ClomidCarrow way too early!!! Don’t put yourself through this! (I know you still will, and trust me I will be too at 9DPO, 10DPO, then probably twice daily after that 😪 we are gluttons for punishment)

@Jemstar33 any luck on af?

Jemstar33 · 24/08/2019 19:35

Welcome @Rinoa wishing you the best of luck.

@AmyMaria2 I think that will be the hormones too. It could be a good sign 🤞🏽

Nothing yet @goingbacktokansascity will be 5 weeks on Tuesday since mc. How you doing? X

Seventytwoseventythree · 25/08/2019 00:37

Hi everyone, hope it’s ok to join, I haven’t actually started clomid yet but will be doing so in the next few weeks.

I’m glad to have found you all - had a bit of a read and agree with some PPs that there seem to be babies everywhere and when none of your friends have had any issues they don’t really understand.

I have a question - does anyone else feel a huge amount of guilt towards their partner? I know it’s silly and we couldn’t have known, but I just feel terrible that my lovely DH has not yet had a baby (and may never do) because of my body’s inability to ovulate. Sometimes when I am really low I think that he would be better off with someone else who could give him kids.

Rinoa · 25/08/2019 10:03

@Seventytwoseventythree welcome , I'm new to this too! Hopefully will be put on clomid this week or at least prescribed it.

I know what you mean re guilt. I definitely felt guilty especially having DH having to go thru SA and such. That can't be comfortable, but believe me they don't blame us. It's just one of those things that happen and can actually help ya grow closer as a couple I think . I had a hard problem opening up even to him about it but trust me after you do they can become such a big help and are much more understanding than we think! That's my 2 cents anyway.

seven201 · 25/08/2019 10:42

Welcome @Rinoa and @Seventytwoseventythree . Don't feel guilty, a lot of people have fertility issues, including men. Have you talked to your dh about it?

I think I'm about 10dpo. Had progesterone test on Thursday so will get the results Tuesday 🤞

Rinoa · 25/08/2019 12:56

@seven201 good luck, hope it goes well! :)

Oh also due to the area I live in the cycle tracking is not covered by NHS but they've said cost is £300. Not bad I think, although not sure how many scans it consists of and if it covers cost of pills. Also if 6 rounds fail I get 3x IVF tries covered. Hope it won't get to that though.

Goingbacktokansascity · 25/08/2019 13:28

@jemstar33 can’t believe it’s only been 5 weeks, seems so much longer. Friend had a miscarriage in December 18, got pregnant before the next period so 🤞🏽 Same for you. She continually had positive pregnancy tests and went in for a scan incase there was any “retained tissue” and she had a wee 6 week fetus with a heart beat 😍 I’m cycle day 5 I think, dealing with the side effects way better this cycle than before and have a scan on 9/9 to see if I’ve ovulated 🤞🏽

seven201 · 25/08/2019 18:14

@Rinoa I think that's a very good price (I paid about £120 per scan - had two for one cycle as first showed I had too many follicles preparing, second confirmed it - so I really do think they're worth it) and also great that they'll give you 3 ivf rounds too (obvs hope you don't need them).

ClomidCarrow · 26/08/2019 11:53

I thought I had a squinter at 12dpo but it's such a crappy, cheap test, I don't think it's reliable at all. Looks like a BFN now anyway.

AF due Friday, and no doubt I'll keep testing! 99% convinced I'm out this month

Clomid Thread 2019 V2
Rinoa · 26/08/2019 18:15

@ClomidCarrow I hate when I think it's a squinter then take a photo and it just shows BFN! I'd say keep testing though still too early !

Jemstar33 · 26/08/2019 21:00

@seven201 good luck with the results tomorrow

Welcom @Seventytwoseventythree hoping you can get started soon

@ClomidCarrow stay positive it could be too early to test 🤞🏽

I’m hoping AF will be here tomorrow I’m having super light spotting 🤞🏽🤞🏽 if it does happen tomorrow I’ll be cd 18 when I have my weekend away with the girls. I ovulated cd 14/15 last time so I’m hoping it’ll be the same and I should just go for it!

Pinktruffle · 26/08/2019 22:24

Congratulations @marmite83. I'm so happy for you!

My AF started today so ovulation induction looks to have completely failed for me. I have my IVF referral appointment on September 5th. Fingers crossed I've put on enough weight to meet the BMI requirements. I think mentally I've got to a point where I feel like I'm a big fat failure and that this may not ever happen for me. I''ll keep trying but it all feels a bit futile now. The medical professionals involved really don't seem to care one iota about me so it all feels like even more of an uphill battle.

Jemstar33 · 27/08/2019 07:51

I’m so sorry you feel like this @Pinktruffle but you’re not a failure. Look at how much you’ve been through, you’re allowed to be upset and down and that’s normal but you’re not a failure. You were really kind to me after my mc and I hope I can be there for you x
