Our old clomid thread is no longer allowing new comments, and it's taken me 24 hours and multiple failed comments to understand why - we filled it up So thought I'd start a new one...

Hi @samosaurus so sorry about your mc 💔I’m a a sort of similar situation, I also got pregnant on my first cycle of clomid but I miscarried at 5 weeks. I’m not being monitored in terms of scans and it was too soon to give a reason for mc. It happened 4 weeks ago tomorrow and I’m waiting for my period to start to begin clomid again.
How long after your miscarriage did your period start? Please keep on the thread and let us know how you’re getting on. I have the same worries as you do it would be good to keep in touch. Good luck x

Samosaurus · 19/08/2019 09:28

@Jemstar33 Oh I'm sorry you are in this position too, it is really rubbish. I had a d&c after my missed miscarriage was discovered, and my period started exactly 5 weeks after that. I hope yours starts up again soon, and you can get on with ttc again. Yes definitely let's keep in touch, it's good to be able to talk with someone who understands! x

BinkyB4 · 19/08/2019 11:00

@ClomidCarrow I've been using the Clearblue ones too that tell you your two most fertile days, as that's what my hospital advised.....and got my first smiley face today....hurrah!!

@Samosaurus so sorry for your loss and I know exactly how you feel too....my AMH is low and that can indicate diminished ovarian reserve/poor quality eggs which I am terrified about after what happened previously, but I know without the Clomid I probably wont ovulate at all....and as I keep reading everywhere, it only takes one good egg....!

@Jemstar33 I'm so sorry about your loss too. x

Jemstar33 · 19/08/2019 11:25

Thank you @binkyb4

@Samosaurus thanks for the info. It’s helpful to know from someone else who’s using clomid too.
I’ve been feeling really angry and upset for a few days, not sure if this is my period coming or just generally feeling rubbish about everything! X

Samosaurus · 19/08/2019 14:39

@Jemstar33 I think it is normal to feel angry and upset. I started to feel a bit better once my period returned as then I felt I could start trying agin, rather that be stuck in limbo waiting x

@BinkyB4 Thank you. I have low amh too, so that's an extra layer of worry, although my fsh isn't high. But like you say it only takes one good egg, and better to have a poorer quality one via Clomid that might actually make it, than none at all! x

Goingbacktokansascity · 19/08/2019 15:06

@Samosaurus sorry to hear about the mc. I think you’ve got the complete right attitude that it only takes one good egg, and if you’re worried about chromosomal abnormalities when you get your BFP You could always have the harmony test, that’s our plan anyway!

Doris19 · 19/08/2019 19:24

@ClomidCarrow what is crinone?? I've never heard it it before!
@Samosaurus sorry to hear about your MC. TTC worries just change and increase whatever steps forward one takes. Sounds like you're not on a particularly strong dose of clomid (I'm also on 50mg) so perhaps why the consultant was comfortable it's a one off? Second the harmony test which if I ever get a sticky bean we will go for too. Xxx

seven201 · 19/08/2019 19:32

Welcome to the newbies. X

ClomidCarrow · 19/08/2019 20:37

@Doris19 Crinone is a progesterone pessary. I have low progesterone levels and they drop too quickly following ovulation. The added progesterone should hopefully support my lining and give implementation a chance. I'll need to continue for the first trimester if I do conceive.

BinkyB4 · 20/08/2019 09:40

Is anyone being checked to see if they definitely ovulated with Clomid, with either a scan or bloods?
I got my positive OPK yesterday but it’s at th back of my mind that doesn’t necessarily mean you ovulate.......

@ClomidCarrow did your doctor put you on the pessaries? I am anxious about low progesterone too but I don’t know if it’s just low as I wasn’t ovulating or low because that’s how it is for me these days?

ClomidCarrow · 20/08/2019 10:38

@BinkyB4 yes, I had a scan on my first round to check that the dose was right. I had two leading follicles so he's happy with the dose and says he won't need to scan me again for future cycles. No offer of CD21 bloods, so I'm left to my own devices now. I think the follicles measured big enough to indicate that I would ovulate (2 eggs!).

Yes, the doctor prescribed me the pessaries too, although I had to remind him about that at my scan to make sure I got the prescription. Tbh, I'm not sure how much of a difference they'll make. He seemed to suggest that if an embryo does implant then naturally my body will start producing more progesterone anyway.

I think he prescribed it because of my spotting before AF. If I do fall pregnant then I'll have to keep taking them for 12 weeks, and I'm not sure why.

They never seem to fully explain anything so this is all I can assume!

Samosaurus · 20/08/2019 12:41

@Doris19 & @Goingbacktokansascity Thank you both, yes if I do manage to get pregnant again and make it to 10 weeks, then a harmony test is a must! x

@BinkyB4 I had a scan on my first clomid cycle, and I am meant to have one this cycle too as it's my first time back on clomid since my mmc, but my consultant is going on holiday when I would be due to have the scan, so this month I am going it alone and hoping for the best! My lining was fine the first time, but I do have some cyclogest left over from when I was pregnant, so I might just use it after (if) I ovulate just in case the clomid has thinned my lining. From reading the clomid threads on mumsnet it seems that it's not unusual not to be scanned, but I think it's better if you can be so you can know one way or another if it is actually working. x

BinkyB4 · 20/08/2019 14:06

Thanks for your replies.
I had a scan on day 10 and they were happy with everything and got a positive opk on day 14, but I know seeing an LH surge doesn’t necessarily guarantee ovulation......I was kinda shocked th hospital didn’t offer a blood test or re scan.

Also I just wanted to mention that th NIPT is great for checking the 3 main trisomies, which I had done for my second baby and all came back clear, but we unfortunately lost our baby to a different chromosomal abnormality, which currently they don’t check for along with many others.
I don’t want to sound all negative about NIPT, but just wanted to share my experience.

Goingbacktokansascity · 20/08/2019 14:43

AF finally arrived on what seems like CD infinity. Just so happy that I can get on with next round. Conceived my little one on 7.5 and didn’t ovulate on anything lower but was only on 2.5 this previous cycle as post partum you’re meant to be more fertile. Can’t get a hold of gynae to ask so I’m going to increase to 7.5 and hope I’m doing the right thing 🙈

Jemstar33 · 20/08/2019 17:17

@binkyb4 I’m not being scanned. Try not to worry about the opks.

@goingbacktokansascity happy AF arrived. Hope the increase helps for the next round 🤞🏽

Goingbacktokansascity · 20/08/2019 17:26

@jemstar33 I don’t know if it made a difference but I started inositol 2 weeks ago 🤷🏽‍♀️ Might help with encouraging your af

Jemstar33 · 20/08/2019 18:00

Thanks for the tip @goingbacktokansascity I might give that a go if nothing has happened next week x

impatientmammy · 21/08/2019 11:45

Morning ladies, sorry I feel really rude being in and out on here but I want on a night out cd14 I never go out so had an awful hangover cd15 but tbh I've felt tired and nauseous on and off since. I'm now cd19 so I know this is all too early for pregnancy. Just wondering if this is a normal clomid response in the leautal phase? I've never had it before but upped my dose this cycle. Sorry I didn't want to post anywhere else incase people get me excited about an unlikely pregnancy x

Jemstar33 · 21/08/2019 14:24

Hi @impatientmammy sorry I can’t be of much help, I didn’t get that feeling on the one cycle of clomid I’ve done. It may be down to your increased dosage I think it’s too early for pregnancy symptoms unless you ovulated really early in your cycle? X

impatientmammy · 21/08/2019 18:51

Thanks @Jemstar33 I was thinking the same it's just really getting to me feeling pregnant so needed someone to tell me it's a clomid symptom 😂 if I did ovulate early I'd have missed it because my other half was away until cd12. I convince myself I'm pregnant every month and it's really not doing me any good but I don't normally feel sick like this x

Jemstar33 · 21/08/2019 19:22

@impatientmammy its good to stay positive! I really hope you get a bfp. I just checked back on my cycle I got pregnant and from around cd 25, 12 dpo, maybe a couple of days before, I had really sore boobs and my nipples changed shape so it could be a sign! X

impatientmammy · 21/08/2019 19:54

Sickness is definitely a sign for me but I checked back on my posative cycle and I didn't log it so no idea when I started it. However if this is my lucky cycle I would argue this is still a clomid symptom as it's so early x

Goingbacktokansascity · 22/08/2019 08:57

@impatientmammy on letrozole not clomid but when I increased the dose I had headache and nausea and it felt like a horrid hangover, funny enough the nausea never went away, vomiting added in and I was pregnant but I think it’s definitely med side effect. Stay really hydrated should help

impatientmammy · 22/08/2019 09:36

Thank you @Goingbacktokansascity I havnt been drinking enough actually so I'll give that a go. I've had such vivid dreams as well it must just be all the hormones. Luckily I haven't actually been sick. X

Goingbacktokansascity · 22/08/2019 17:35

I have HUGELY vivid dreams, almost like lucid dreaming every time I’m on them. I also struggle to sleep, CD 3 today, so over it!
