interesting blog post from a mother of a DS daughter who was blasted by a 5-10 minute diatribe containing all the old stereotypes about people with DS at a Frakie Boyle show. I'm turning off any TV show he's on in future.

blog here

Grauniad article on it here

LG;

I have just typed out a massive post to you referring back to "oantof"....but I deleted it....

Too difficult to explain

daftpunk · 17/04/2010 17:30

DeFluff.....I know you're not a N/C...

I know who the idiots are on here, & you are not one of them...(even though you think I work to a 5 point plan )

noddyholder · 17/04/2010 17:40

Why would anyone NC you should be proud to disagree with that nonsense.maybe they are new .Thanks god I was out getting sozzled

DeFluff · 17/04/2010 17:46

You better not go changing your style DP, it took me ages to do that '5 point plan', i can't just go adjusting it you know

Tn0g · 17/04/2010 17:48

Dp, I feel quite depressed reading your views, your belief that most of your adopted countries ills would be only sorted if there were fewer immigrants, your support of BNP and your abhorent homophobic attitude toward gay people, it's truly awful to read.

I've met people with similar attitudes over the years and have always been struck at how small and insular they wish to make their life experiences.

I'm really curious about you being Irish [what part? I don't doubt you btw just curious being an Irish woman myself], living in the UK, your inability to see how that makes you no different to any other immigrant, perhaps higher up in the pecking order because you're white, have a job, can speak the language, etc, can melt into a throng of people because you don't wear clothing that states your culture [although with pink hair you do stand out, I'm sure ]

You seem to be looking down, looking for scapegoats. Why not join a local community group? Come into contact with the people you see as problem in a positive way.

daftpunk · 17/04/2010 17:51

They name-change because they are cowards

I have reported

  1. BNPhater

  2. Bigotsarelosers

  3. SMS

  4. C24

If that lot are still around they can come and have a chat with me about it....

Tnog;

I was born in London, but my parents are from Galway...they came here in the 1950's and (ironically) suffered from racism, they were turned away from alot of rented accomodation ( no blacks Irish or dogs ) but they just got on with it....worked hard and bought their own house.

I can't really explain the homosexual thing, just not my scene, and I am entitled to my opinion. I don't have to like the sight of 2 men kissing....you can't force me to like something....it is partly religious, and partly down to my own feeling that homosexuality is wrong on so many levels, but I'm not homophobic.

daftpunk · 17/04/2010 18:12

LG;

I have to disappear for a few hours, but I will reply to you tonight....

ps;

Can you pass this msg onto your dp...

Hi Lenins DP...

You will NEVER catch me....ha ha ha...

LG, I don't know why you engage with DP so much. She won't change and in a few threads time she'll say something profoundly homophobic and upset you again. She thinks your way of life is wrong and that you shouldn't be bringing up a child, do you really want to take on the task of making her reasonable? It won't happen.

daftpunk · 17/04/2010 19:03

Bloody hell..JT sent off...losing 2-0 to Tottenham.....Man.U won today....I don't care about FF either....Chelsea have to win the league...

Sorry to share this with you LG....I know you support a nobody team...

LG, you may have to be very, very patient!

So dp, what do you perceive to be the difference between your parents and the immigrants who are noow "getting on with it" in the UK today?

LG I am awe, I would have (have) given up DP as a lost cause ages ago......(in the end I just think s/he is a nasty piece of work and like someone else said s/he'll say the same kinds of thing again very soon...) I do believe in the ability of people to change, but sometimes you just have to accept it is a losing battle and focus your energies elsewhere....(your mum is a different issue.)

Dp, your parents worked hard and carved out a life in the UK because they were given the opportunity to do so.

Enoch Powell was the Nick Griffin of the 50's and he talked of rivers of blood by allowing immigration, well another 50 years on and we mostly have multi-cultarism and diversity, a GOOD thing.

The problems that exsist in the UK [and Ireland for that matter] come about when fat cat politicians don't invest your money where it's most needed, not because someone seeks to start a new life in your country.

For every new person to enter the country there's probably one or more person born and bred in the UK that emigrates, plus rules of entry are pretty stringent as it is, people are deported and many face an inability to seek work legally because the Home Office don't process their applications for years and so begins a vicious spiral.

Regarding your dislike of homosexuality, how many openly gay people do you actually know?

Oh and Co.Galway is beautiful isn't it?
