I can't decide whether this is very sad or quite enterprising. A bit of both I think.

What did amaze me is that a medical professional endorsed her virginity at a press conference!

story here - warning, it's in the DM!

Vitt: My instincts are telling me that unfortunately you are not a cheerful young woman of the Heat generation who wants to have an interesting and coherent anti-feminist debate, which is a shame.

What's in your knicks is far more boring tbh.

tattifer · 15/05/2009 10:57

"look here is feminism and it can be whate er yu want it to be, so come on tell me what you think it is, so that i can argue with you"

Sounds about right.

Everyone hitting each other over the head with their own definition if feminism - how very female. If that really is feminism then the product is doomed to fail.

The op was about a woman making a choice about her own body without fear of condemnation - and who was it running to be first at the pile of stones to throw? Feminists!!!

LindenAvery · 15/05/2009 12:03

Ahh free choice - what exactly is it? Surely dependent on available options? Surely dictated by society and culture? Recognise the 'her body, her choice', doesn't mean that her decision was the best one.

Maybe one day someone will auction their life to the highest bidder to fund some relative for a purpose - allow themselves to be hunted, tortured and executed. Let's see - oh think this might have already happened.

One thing for certain - she (the woman in the article) can't change what has already happened and therefore she will have to revisit said choice for the rest of her life. She may be 'ok', she will just have to wait and see.

Interesting point - morning after pill not the most reliable form of contraception, so maybe the man will end up paying far more - or was a clause inserted in said contract about the possibility of a child? And would this stand up in law?

lol Mp. Now I'm scratching my head.

I thoink this thread might actually demonstrate why women are under represented in politics...it's one thing to disagree, but it all to often ends up in ad hominem 'attacks'. Or attempts anyway.

Tortington · 15/05/2009 15:15

my point about voting was irony - becaus it wasn't feminism at all - yet thats what most women attribute it to

litchick - i see your point but i riase you - why are the intrests of women more important than that of any other group?

Tortington · 15/05/2009 15:18

"I believe the ultimate goal of feminism is the equality of all."

thats just socislism

On average - they might be!

Vittoria · 15/05/2009 16:01

"I believe the ultimate goal of feminism is the equality of all."

But what is equality?

I'm beginning to suspect it's a Maguffin

Tortington · 15/05/2009 16:01

it's becuase we get emotional and have periods

Vittoria · 15/05/2009 16:02

spelling important - MacGuffin

Vittoria · 15/05/2009 16:04

Actually MP, I think it's just that most humans are profoundly irrational and driven by emotion. Real debate only happens with set rules. Rules and public forums don't mix.

Vittoria · 15/05/2009 16:05

No, that's just you Custy

SummatAnNowt · 15/05/2009 16:05

"I thoink this thread might actually demonstrate why women are under represented in politics...it's one thing to disagree, but it all to often ends up in ad hominem 'attacks'."

yeah, cos that never happens with men in politics!

SummatAnNowt · 15/05/2009 16:09

So did you grow up socialised as male then Vittoria? I mean that's going to make a difference. I have a close friend who's a ftm ts and he's the same flavour of feminist I am.

Vittoria · 15/05/2009 16:12

Actually, personal attcks aren't allowed in the Commons SaN.

AS for your other question, no, I was socialised by wolves.

morningpaper · 15/05/2009 16:31

V popped up on MN for this thread, it appears. I suspect he might be a charming 45 year old Italian.
