I can't decide whether this is very sad or quite enterprising. A bit of both I think.

What did amaze me is that a medical professional endorsed her virginity at a press conference!

story here - warning, it's in the DM!

I feel sorry for the bloke being exploited by the woman.

nooka · 16/05/2009 03:56

violet do you always believe what is written in the papers? Because until any of us meets and talks with this young woman we have no idea what she really thought about her experience. We are all extrapolating from a tiny bit of information from a very dubious source.

MT why the bother with making up some silly character? We are all anonymous here after all. Bit pathetic really.

Vittoria · 16/05/2009 08:22

Nooka, what silly character is that? If you don't get the joke, fine - but pathetic? when did it become okay to just attack each other all over the place? Is that what MN is now?

"Can't we just allow for the fact that the woman in the OP made a choice about how to earn some money (and then cleverly exploited the media to make even more money)??? And celebrate the fact that she is allowed to make that choice, even though we wouldn't necessarily do it ourselves? Personally I'd rather use my brain to earn a living, but each to their own.

And can those of us who like men and consider ourselves equal to them enjoy a GHF without being told off about it by some nannyish old 'feminist'?"

oh yes please!!!

violethill · 16/05/2009 11:29

'violet do you always believe what is written in the papers? Because until any of us meets and talks with this young woman we have no idea what she really thought about her experience.'

You could apply this argument to every situation which is discussed on this forum. That unless each of us, individually, meets any person who is mentioned on MN, then we can't possibly know what they 'really' think. Only the problem is, even then we couldn't be absolutely sure they're telling us what they 'really' think.

The bare facts of this story though, are that this woman wanted to raise some money by selling a sexual favour. She then capitalised on this by selling her story to the DM. We can all make up our own 'story' of what the woman might/might not feel, what the man might/might not feel (if we so choose- personally I find it a pointless exercise because the whole point is - we don't know!) And some people are obsessed with ramming a particular ideology down everyone's throats and attach it to anything they read, rather than acknowledging that people are individuals who make their own decisions.

tattifer · 16/05/2009 11:36

"How very sexist of you to think that women shouldn't disagree about politics"

Where did I say that?! Your ability to over simplify and paraphrase to the point where you're reacting to something that hasn't even been written.

At what point do I get accused of being a man? Anyone who disagrees with you Dittany is either a man or a misogynist. Utterly ridiculous and juvenile.

nooka · 16/05/2009 18:51

As this thread is not about whether or not women enjoy sex, I fail to see the relevance of you going on and on about your "GHF" (seems a bit schoolyard expression to me in any case) which is probably why everyone has ignored this particular point.

Do you feel you need approval for enjoying sex? Thinking prostitution is wrong has little to do with sexual enjoyment - oh wait a moment, it does, as in the prostitute-client relationship only one person is enjoying themselves, and it's not the woman. That is for me what is fundamentally wrong with the whole set up (and I was all free market prior to reading accounts from prostitutes about how unpleasant and degrading the experience was for them).

violethill · 16/05/2009 19:56

Nooka I assume that post is directed to me (even though you simultaneously try to say you're ignoring me lol).

No, I don't feel I need approval to enjoy sex, though thanks for your concern

The women in the OP isn't complaining about the deal she chose - therefore I don't have a problem with it either. Sounds like the two people involved were quite happy with the deal (unless of course the DM features an article next by the Italian, saying the sex was crap and he feels exploited!!)

Mamazon · 16/05/2009 19:59

so whats a GHF? i need to know if i want one or not

Pan · 16/05/2009 20:28
