Hi, to make it easier for people who are finding this subject very distressing, we're going to keep all Baby P posts in one thread. If you'd like to discuss this subject, then here is the thread to do so. We'll go on the other threads and link to this one. Thanks very much.

Stop the rot. kill the killers before they kill more people. what about serial killers and people who can't stop killing and kill loads of people? Get rid of them and there'd be a whole lot more love to go round.

hullygully, you do talk absolute b*llocks.

hullygully · 17/11/2008 16:06

you might not agree and think it is okay for killers to roam free but there is no need for bad language.

"Nowadays there seems to be one case of child abuse and/or murder after the other."

FGS, do you honestly think that because the media report the cases more, there are more killings? About one child a week is killed on average. So since Baby P died, that's quite a lot of children that the media haven't bothered to report on. But believe me, per capita of the population, far fewer children are being killed nowadays than were 100 years ago, children are safer now than they have ever been in history. Much safer than they were when the death penalty was in force.

This makes interesting reading

LouieStrumpet · 17/11/2008 16:08

Why not just put them in jail - they are not roaming free there?

lulumama · 17/11/2008 16:08

serial killers, if caught, tend to go to prison for life,or kill themselves.

fred west & harold shipman for example.

evil is not just a nasty looking thug with a shaved head and a subscription to gun magazines

it can be insidious and hidden and in every strata of society

so , kill all the killers is hardly a reasoned response to soemthing that permeates every level of society..

what a load of utter, utter, utter crap

SoupDragon · 17/11/2008 16:09

Oh, I think there is a need for it when someone's spouting such tripe as "If more people were killed there might be a bit less killing and abit more love"

LittleBella · 17/11/2008 16:09

No jail's not good enough, they don't get tortured enough there.

Show me the statistics, Little Bella and then I might believe you- of child abuse and murder when the death penalty was existence - and now.

conniedescending · 17/11/2008 16:12

I've already given you a case gateau - Amelia Dyer killed over 50 babies before being hung.

LittleBella · 17/11/2008 16:13

Oh go and find them yourself. They're out there, on the internet, in libraries, in social history books. I'm not going to spend hours of my life looking up figures in order to convince someone who is wrong on the internet who won't be all that interested anyway.

LittleBella · 17/11/2008 16:14

Have you not read the baby farming link as well? That's a start.

conniedescending · 17/11/2008 16:16

and what about countries where the death penalty is in existence???? are they crime free?

no

it does not work - but it will probably make people like you 'feel' better because thats what you really want.

it is not a preventative measure it is a reactionary one.

poshwellies · 17/11/2008 16:16

I suggest you look up babyfarming and infanticide during the victorian era-it was rife, they had captial punishment back then eh?

filz · 17/11/2008 16:18

every post I have ever seen gateau post has been from her hotel bed at nutters anonymous plc
continental breakfast dropped at the door dear, but please do not knock

Bucharest · 17/11/2008 16:19

Or the States. A societywith the death penalty which is just filled with love and where nothing bad ever happens.

Gateau · 17/11/2008 16:19

Oh forgive me, Little Bella, I thought you already had the stats to hand. You seems so sure of your argument. In other words, you're spouting a lot of unfounded tripe.
I'm not WRONG either. Wrong doesn;t come into it. I'm not spouting facts which have no source. I'm merely expressing an opinion which I'm entitled to. That does not make me wrong.

Gateau · 17/11/2008 16:23

Have noted the "nutter" accusation, filz. You sound lovely.

filz · 17/11/2008 16:25

why thanks. I do try

LittleBella · 17/11/2008 16:27

pmsl

I'm spouting unfounded tripe?

I think more historians would agree with me than with you.

Would you also deny that the rates of diptheria and TB have plummeted since the 19c? Or would you say that's unfounded tripe, seeing as how I haven't got the figures immediately to hand, and I can't be arsed to trawl the net for them?

jojosmaman · 17/11/2008 16:29

These people who abuse/ torture/ kill innocent children are not sane, how could they be? So if we were to re-introduce the death penalty it is not going to put potential abusers/ torturers/ murderers off committing these awful acts as they are insane so they won't think about the consequences. It will only make a few people satisfied for a short length of time.

LouieStrumpet · 17/11/2008 16:31

That's a very good post imo jojosmaman
