Lets hope so Bella it beats the alternative

the feeling of those little boy's being brought up without a mum is heartbreaking

expatinscotland · 20/08/2008 22:41

like Cote, i flipped out when i got my diagnosis.

had to be re-assured that it's not an aggressive cancer if it's diagnosed early.

expatinscotland · 20/08/2008 22:43

think it's different with adenocarcinomas, but those are rare in young women and the biopsy will tell what you've got.

mamalovesmojitos · 21/08/2008 11:33

god i followed the above youtube link. wish i hadn't .

she's so upset, she can't have acted that. the tears were streaming down my face watching her. such uncomfortable viewing and the above poster is right, they should take it down.

tortoiseSHELL · 23/08/2008 10:16

According to this article she is having a hysterectomy next week followed by chemo.

I am not a 'Jade fan', but I am compassionate enough to wish her well and to give her the benefit of the doubt. I can't imagine getting a cancer diagnosis, having to say goodbye to the idea of more children, possibly not living to see my children grow up, and then having the media cast doubts on whether it was true or not.

shhhh · 23/08/2008 10:51

well, I hope those of you who doubted her hang your heads low today...

according to todays news she is due to have a hysterectomy next week..imo not somthing you would do for publicity.

I have watced that utube clip and agree, not acted at all imo and the papers....what utter twoddle they write.

According to them last week they made out like she went back to housemates annoucing matter of factly that she has cancer...
Not as it happened at all...on that clip she looks like any woman/person does when told such devastating news.

Wishing her all the strength for the coming times and I hope all goes well. x

shhhh · 23/08/2008 11:10

oh and to add, she has had x4 cervical checks and all results came back incorrectly....although unknown to her till now...

What a sad thread this is.

Doobydoo · 23/08/2008 11:17

It is sad,but not more or less sad than for any woman faced with this.

Doobydoo · 23/08/2008 11:19

I agree with you Bronze re sad thread.Amat some of the comments. Not sure why I looked at the thread really. Think I will do some housework.

jimjamshaslefttheyurt · 23/08/2008 11:26

I know 2 people who had full blown cervical cancer despite regular smears. One was 'missed'. I'm not sure about the other. One had treatment and recovered, the other died.

So actually you can have regular smears, develop full blown cancer and you can even die from it.

I'm a bit at the comments too.

tortoiseSHELL · 23/08/2008 11:38

Doobydoo - I agree, sad for any woman, but most wouldn't have widespread sceptism over the validity of their illness.

Poor Jade. This just shows how cruel this fame for fames sake lark can be.

She is a human being and now seriously ill but still the publicity machine that made her what she is rolls on.

This says a lot about our culture today. It's so vacuous and sad.

shhhh · 23/08/2008 13:28

posieflump but then again the interviews in the sun etc allow her to tell the "facts" and not for the papers to print lies or unconfirmed facts. At least this way she has some way of knowing/hoping that the public are getting the truth iykiwm.

I have been looking for updates since it was announced on tuesday but hadn't been successful till today...so in a way it lets the public know how you are doing. iir, trisha did the same..yeah maybe a little further on (not to much mind you..) and possibly because it got to a stage where she felt she had to comment.
So Jade is not the only one, famous or not people get concerned when things like this happen.

Hmmm............seems all those who were so a few days ago are nowhere to be seen..Maybe they are out enjoying the lovely weather .

gunnerbean,my sentiments entirely.

Thing is, so many people judge jade and other "celebrites" on what they see..and because of the position they are in we get to see them warts and all iykiwm...YET what we need to remember is that we are all human and we all say and do things that are wrong/funny/shocking (inc mistakes) BUT we are not in the public eye so no big deal is made of it.

Just so happens that Jade (among others )has said some public things.

Aren't we all guilty of some things..? On mn we only get to see one side of each other..I know Im not always the mner that I portray myself as being...

Can't we just have a little sympathy for her as a fellow mum.

onceinalifetime · 23/08/2008 15:11

I am really shocked to hear that it's so serious - I naively thought that cervical cancer was generally caught much earlier than this and to have a hysterectomy at the age of 26 is awful, very sad indeed. I hope she recovers.

I'm still not sure that all this publicity helps though. Why does the truth need to be out there? If the whole thing had been kept private, none of these interviews and so on would have been necessary. I don't trust the press to leave her alone to get on with her treatment. Being photographed going in and out of nightclubs is one thing but not when you're going in and out of hospital and going through something as real and harrowing as this.

Earlybird · 23/08/2008 15:20

Absolute madness that she had 4 smear tests, and nothing showed up until it was so serious. I hope she now can receive the level of health care she should have had all along.

onceinalifetime - agree that the publicity interviews might not be helping her frame of mind atm. Personally, I'd want to deal with this privately, but everyone is different. Also, we all know certain newspapers pay for interviews, and she has said several times recently that she needs money - perhaps that is what is motivating her to be so public?

tribpot · 23/08/2008 15:26

once - it is, but not always. A very dear friend of mine was diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer only 5 weeks after her wedding She had had regular smears but the cancer was aggressive. After originally hoping to escape with fertility saving treatment, it wasn't possible and she had to have radiotherapy which rendered her infertile.

Fortunately she has made a great recovery and now spends a lot of time working with Jo's Trust.

goingslowlymad · 23/08/2008 15:58

A friend of mine died of cervical cancer 4 years ago, 5 months after being diagnosed, and as she lives in the US she had had years smears and was up to date with them.

She was only 25, with 2 children, her youngest being less than a year old at the time of her death, so unfortunately smears don't always pick up aggressive cancers

posieflump · 23/08/2008 16:02

blimey Gunnerbean that was a bit uncalled for! I honestly don't wish her any ill, but I can't imagine being in her position and even thinking about what the public think of her . I think you have judged my post very harshly.

Saturn74 · 23/08/2008 16:06

I agree, Posie.

I think there were some very unkind comments in your post, Gunnerbean.

It is unfair to criticise another poster for making what you consider to be "a truly nasty and totally uncalled for comment", and then being unpleasant yourself.

posieflump · 23/08/2008 16:20

thanks HC, I was really shocked to read it. I'm sorry if I caused any offence
