let's hope whatever the truth something positive comes out of this story and it encourages women and girls to have regular smear tests.

belgo · 19/08/2008 11:27

Guadalope - I hope you've made a full recovery - I can't imagine going through something like that at such a young age.

joliejolie · 19/08/2008 11:28

I was a bit at first, but I do agree that she must know there would be a huge backlash if she lied.

I also agree that she may have known first because if she was awaiting biopsy test results, she would hardly traipse across the world to do a tv program. I have known people awaiting test results and they are hardly in a happy go lucky mood. Maybe a holiday with the kids if she was really worried, but Indian Big Brother?! Biopsy results usually come quickly too, especially if the person has had any incidents to indicate a problem (like collapsing, as Jade apparently did). I do feel like she might have known and then used this as a bit of a sympathy ploy to make everyone forgive and forget.

joliejolie · 19/08/2008 11:34

Guadalupe, how are you?? I had a friend who went through a similar situation and had a hysterectomy. After that she made a full recovery, but the treatment was so deeply distressing to her.

Hope you are through the worst and feel better.

WendyWeber · 19/08/2008 11:34

The diary room bit has not been shown, & won't be, reportedly, but in BB there is no other way of getting somebody away from the others for a private conversation, is there, short of going in and taking someone away which would be much worse.

(Mind you the Mail has a photo - how did they get that? )

"It is her third such cancer scare, following tests for bowel cancer in 2006 and ovarian cancer in 2004. On those occasions she was given the all clear." All of that can't have been for publicity - she's obviously had dodgy symptoms for a long time.

I wish her a full recovery anyway.

Guadalupe · 19/08/2008 11:44

I am fine thanks, Belgo and Jolie, I am lucky that I won't need further treatment.

Whatever her stage of diagnosis it must be extremely worrying for her, especially with all the other tests in the past.

Let's hope she makes a full recovery. I'm surprised she went to the BB house before getting the resulting.

shhhh · 19/08/2008 13:49

Gosh, some of you are quite cinical and imo a bit nasty. Just hope none of you find yourself in the same situation and come onto mn for advice/support.

The fact she went into the bb house in India was probably because if she didn't because "she was awaiting test results" wouldn't people (many mner's by the looks of things) think . There she goes, publicity stunt.

Maybe she wanted to take her mind off things hence the trip to india to continue with the plans and maybe at the back of her mind she thought all would be fine with the results..???

Poor girl can't win. Whatever she decided to do :Go into the bb house now or later after results she would have been given negative reviews.

mayorquimby · 19/08/2008 13:58

"Poor girl can't win. Whatever she decided to do :Go into the bb house now or later after results she would have been given negative reviews."

well of course she's going to get negative reviews. what do you expect of someone who is going into big brother india to make 100k profit on the back of her racism the last time she was in a reality tv show?

shhhh · 19/08/2008 14:12

Yes and maybe you can see it as "how long should she keep apologising" and surely for her to be away for x amount of time she does need an income like everyone else...sure she earns much more than us BUT she also has bills to pay and lo's to care for...

Lets gets it right though, irrelevant of the amount of pay she would receive, if she didn't go so missed out on payment, people wouldn't focus on "oh welldone jade, giving up her tv fee's for her health" It would be "oh jade cancel's bb, race issues, blah de dah..due to ill health " Come on you know it would be like that...

Other thing is, Im sure I read that the bb india money was being given to poor indian children..?

expatinscotland · 19/08/2008 14:13

i thought it was cervical cancer?

shhhh · 19/08/2008 14:14

it was the last shows fee's she donated

shhhh · 19/08/2008 14:15

expat, its not been confirmed atm (waiting for more tests tomorrow)..either womb or cervical..

expatinscotland · 19/08/2008 14:16

BBC says it's cervical.

they don't usually print things that aren't confirmed.

i'm not a fan of hers, tbh.

hope she can move on with her life.

beanieb · 19/08/2008 14:17

"I bet it's a PR stunt and she's had a dodgy smear" how incredibly insensitive you are twigglet! .

her publicist has confirmed that it is Cancer not a 'dodgy smear'. I have read that she had an abnormal smear in the past. This should mean catching it in the early stages but unfortunately for her it looks like it is now more advanced.

Worldwide there are more than 273,000 deaths from cervical cancer each year and it accounts for 9% of female cancer deaths source

expatinscotland · 19/08/2008 14:21

Twiglett has a point.

She really has.

You get a dodgy smear and then depending on the results of that you either go to the colpo clinic for colpo and/or biopsy or you have a repeat smear in 6 months.

So if she'd gone for biopsy, why go inot the BB House in India before getting the results back (they don't take that long) unless with an eye to publicity.

Furthermore, if the consultant sees something he/she thinks is even remotely a chance that it's cancerous during the colposcopy the results are either rushed OR the patient is treated on the spot - this recently happened to a poster here who did indeed have cervical cancer.

Well, believe it. I've had CINII and loop electroexcision procedure to get rid of those abnormal cells.

The fortnight between my colpo and biopsy and getting the results was a friggin' nightmare.

I thought I was going to lose my uterus, possibly my life and never have kids.

Jetting off to a foreign country was about the last thing I'd have done.

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/08/2008 14:28

well I think we shoul;d give her the benefit of doubt - it's too serious too be a PR ploy - whatever it is,she deserves some compassion
