I don't think I mentioned anything about marching with English flags!! Of course people can and should march against any English government policy they don't agree with and don't support.

Not in this climate. No. Absolutely not. We need to calm the temperature across the board.

AzurePanda · 02/10/2025 13:17

Another non Jew here who has been motivated by the events of the past two years to do all I can to show solidarity with Jewish people. I’ve become active in the Campaign against anti-Semitism and made it my personal mission to speak out again anti-Semitism whenever I encounter it.

Ketzele · 02/10/2025 13:17

I don't know what to say. We all saw this coming.

reginaldronnierara · 02/10/2025 13:17

It's horrendous and will also play into the hands of Reform.

Uggbootsforever · 02/10/2025 13:18

vsign · 02/10/2025 13:14

Do we know that it's a Muslim or just automatically assumed?

I’m assuming.

I may be wrong.

I don’t think I am.

That’s your first concern is it

Yes this is true. I am not surprised at all. No Jew is. We are out there seeing and feeling the hatred here. Yet if you talk about it on MN (for example) we get told we are talking shit or 'misunderstanding' . You only have to dip into the pure venom that drips largely unchecked in the CITME threads.

Please know the venom on the citme threads does not represent the majority ❤️. There is a vocal minority granted but most intelligent people do not fall for the propaganda.

It's not an easy job for the police in highly charged situations like this but I think they handled it as best as they could under the circumstances.

I haven’t watched the video people are mentioning but yes they did a good job. He didn’t get inside.

Sadly, I agree. There was an inevitability

And yet France has been one of the first countries to openly criticize the Israeli government and recognize the state of Palestine. Maybe people in the UK wouldn't feel the need to march if our country took action against Israel.

It's not our war. Let the middle east sort it out. We're dragged into it mainly due to an increasing number of people living or settling here who are trying to make it our war. There are hundreds of wars and genocide happening in the world. Let's not cherry pick which ones people want to force us to get involved with.

Agreed; there comes a point when there's just no point arguing with idiots.

Nestingbirds · 02/10/2025 13:20

Reform is the least of our worries, but unless the government really steps up and gets a grip this is going to be placed squarely on the shoulders of the Labour Party for not doing enough to stamp out this growing danger much faster. They have been too slow to respond to the growing crisis.

Dont be ridiculous. The guy might have had hidden body explosives strapped to him. Presumably he knew what the consequences of attacking innocent people might be. Horrible and vile individual. In some other countries his injured body would probably have been hauled onto the back of truck paraded round the streets. Should count himself lucky he's in a civilised country.

Edited

I’m speechless. There’s a real lack of humanity atm.

YourBrickTiger · 02/10/2025 13:22

reginaldronnierara · 02/10/2025 11:57

Shocking, so shocking.

And what on earth is wrong with the idiotic bystanders? Why did they not vacate when instcruted that the terrorist has a bomb strapped too him?

And the footage of the man bleeding to death on the pavement and people just shouting, filming and no one even trying to give first aid or comfort the man on the road, just lingering and staring and even egging the security guys on to shoot the terrorist. Imbecile chavs.

It takes a lot to shock me these days but I am pehenomanly disgusted with the bystanders. WHY did they not try and look after the guy on the pavement. Clearly it wasn't due to feeling unsafe as they had no issue shouting and filming the horrendous scenes and hanging around for their bit of inhumane excitement.

I detest them almost more than the perpetrator, well almost.

I saw a clip of it, it amazes me that someone is standing by videoing it. Absolutely horrific all round. I know the world is a mad place but Manchester really doesn't need this after what happened at the arena :(

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 02/10/2025 13:23

Mustbethat · 02/10/2025 13:14

Yep. This officers will now be in separate incident rooms as part of a post incident investigation. Interviews, statements, questions, reviews of their body cams.

all while exhausted and emotional from the adrenaline crash and having to do what no armed officer actually ever wants to do. Make the decision to shoot.

don’t get me wrong, it’s absolutely necessary and needs to be done to ensure the police do act correctly when someone is injured by them.

the public weighing in with their uninformed opinions does not help though.

these events are horrific. The families, the members of the synagogue, the Jewish community, the police, paramedics, coroners, the knock on is huge. Even as far as Muslims who abhor violence and will also be horrified now fearing retribution.

Yep, they might also now be off work for a while reducing their income. Not that this should matter but it will affect them so we need to be so so grateful for the officers who put themselves in this position to keep people safe.

The BBC will probably send in a journalist undercover to win their trust, get them drunk and run a grossly biased programme on this stating how badly the knife attacker was treated.

I really hope that if any good comes out of those is that the people waving Palestinian flags realises they’re waving the flag of a group who have not only done this to thousands already but would happily do it to millions more.

I'm Jewish. Can't stop crying. Scared all the time and really, really scared for my kids. As the only Jewish children in their schools they are visible and my daughter has been harassed twice so far - once badly enough for the police to be involved as it got physical.

My dad's synagogue had a mass shooting several years ago and he lost several friends. He was 5 minutes away as he was running a bit late that morning. He easily could have been a victim. This is bringing all that back.

hugs - don't know what to say, it's so awful.

Doseofreality · 02/10/2025 13:23

The attack is shocking but also shocking is the behaviour of the knobjobs who stood around filming the victims rather than try and help them.

I’ve even seen footage of a bystander shouting instructions at the armed police, whilst filming on his phone. “You wanna shoot mate, he’s got a bomb on him there” must be up there with the most unhelpful phrase yelled at a trained professional by a feckwit ever!

You know absolutely nothing about those marches and who is behind them - they are the absolute essence of the conflation of politics and antisemitism! How can people still not be aware of this? Furthermore this thread is not the place for your “Palestine” grandstanding. There are terrified Jewish people posting, who are direct targets and who have lost some of their people today, don’t make them have to endure you airing your ill informed political views as well!

“Palestine” grandstanding.
Really?! And you are an expert on these marches are you? Have you actually attended one? By and large they are peaceful and objecting of Israeli politics not Jewish people. If anything you have ill informed political views. I have Jewish friends who have attended as they oppose the politics of Israel and also proudly Jewish.

My thoughts are with anyone affected by today's tragedy. It's absolutely disgusting that this happened today of all days and antisemitism should be called out as should the complicity of UKs role in the genocide happening in Gaza.

Jujujudo · 02/10/2025 13:24

kerstina · 02/10/2025 13:02

Not true. I don’t believe people who stood up for a Palestine were anti Semitic they were protesting against the Israeli governments actions in Gaza. These people who take other peoples lives like these Jewish people and Charlie Kirk are mentally ill and evil, don’t put peaceful protesters in the same bracket please.

Me and my children were caught up in a “peaceful” protest in London one Saturday. We encountered a burning doll of a hook nosed rabbi with people dancing around it. We heard chants like: we we are all Hamas! And a group of girls started hissing when I walked past (I have a small Star of David necklace) which I later found out was meant to be the sound of the gas chambers. My kids were terrified and I’m too short to be able to see over people so my teenage son had to lead us to safety. I felt threatened, unsafe and intimidated and eff of if you proclaim to give a shit about Palestinians. These people hate Jews. That’s all.

I am Muslim, is it bad to say i was hoping the attacker wasn't Muslim. Most of us British Muslims do not condone such acts on our fellow brits regardless of their background.

My sincere condolences to the Jewish community x

I mean ‘by and large’ the ‘Unite the Kingdom’ marches are peaceful and objecting of immigration policy, not brown people.

But I’m guessing you disagree with that because it doesn’t fit a narrative
