What?! How can they have such extremist views and not be struck off?

Because despite what most minority groups would think, the fact is that the top three hatreds that unite the world are anti Semitism, anti female and anti Gay and Lesbian.

I say that as a Black , straight woman.

SerendipityJane · 02/10/2025 18:28

gorlomi · 02/10/2025 18:21

That's what I thought. Although, I think we all know it was an Islamic terror attack.

Exactly. Same way it was obvious the Charlie Kirk killer was a left wing liberal radical.

They tried to make out he was right wing for a while, just because his parents are

We need to question why people feel so emboldened to do this.

Presumably because nothing will happen. Its disgusting behaviour. I dont think we know he is Muslim (but almost definitely is) or whether he was born in the UK. He clearly hates Jews enough to do this. Where has that view come from? Home grown in the UK? If that is the case then wtf! I thought we were tolerant. In the next few days we will presumably know more.

But PLEASE - can we have a grown up conversation about just what is happening here. Not all this be kind to everyone bollocks because not everyone is kind to us.

gorlomi · 02/10/2025 18:31

I don't feel like being kind at all.

Terrorist doesn't automatically mean Islamic terrorism though does it.

why is no one stating the damn obvious.

Jain, Taoist, Hindu and Christian terrorism have not stepped up yet to do their share of the heavy lifting. If we cannot condemn all, we cannot condemn one. Rules of the class monitor.

I find it incredible. The ‘doctor’ needs to be struck off. I certainly wouldn’t want doctors nurses anywhere near me or my loved ones. Clearly no point in taking any concerns to a tribunal if this will be the outcome one. It is outrageous. How on earth has the UK come to this?

nomas · 02/10/2025 18:39

Beachtastic · 02/10/2025 18:23

If you look on US news sites, they are less mealy-mouthed about this and say it's been confirmed by UK antiterrorism police as an act of terrorism.

I think UK news sites are more anxious about upsetting people.

Do you have a link? I can’t see anything.

GoInFor · 02/10/2025 18:39

PollyPaintsFlowers · 02/10/2025 16:23

Apparently there were cars of Muslims driving around the area laughing and with music blaring

Horrific

‘Apparently’

No space here for supposed false information. Dangerous if not true.

What is your evidence of this?

Beachtastic · 02/10/2025 18:42

There are quite a few, such as this from the New York Times

antisemitism has been allowed by our very own prime minster, those awful marches in London where the “free palestine” “queers for palestine” crowd don’t even bother to disguise their hate of Jews. There will be more attacks in future because, as David Baddiel said, Jews don’t count.

This. Its way past the time to sort the hate out. Cheering on terrorists, singing songs supporting the Houthis, no knowledge of history, just soundbites and hatred, the vile comments online after October 7th. Not here please.

vsign · 02/10/2025 17:41

Well this is just turning into an anti immigrant thread now

Not all. I can't think of an extremist Hindu or an extremist Sikh terror attack in the UK.

Its simply pointing out where the biggest risk of terror attacks comes from in the UK.

I’d agree as a brown woman who has experienced hate (been spat on etc) because of my appearance. But the level of hatred towards Jews genuinely astounds me, I hadn’t realised how much latent antisemitism there was in the UK. I’ve lived in the middle east and antisemitism is reflexive and insanely conspiracy driven, women and gays…well yup I’d say most of the non western world can be pretty hostile with the top most hated group depending on local context.

Absolutely horrific and appalling.

Jewish people should have a right to worship in peace.

Disgusted that someone would attack people in a synagogue especially on their holy day whilst they're praying and fasting. This id so sad.

Agree. As an atheist, I’m grateful to live in a country where people have religious freedom.

A cowardly attack as well as horrific.

That doesn’t say it was an Islamist terror attack?

Isn't "this isn't the time for political point scoring" the line used by the NRA when there's been another slaughter of children in a hail of bullets, and they want to distract anyone using this as a reason to limit gun ownership?

Nothing to see here, move along until it's faded from the front pages and then we hope you'll have long since forgotten about it all.

As I explained in another, earlier post, this thread started as a respectful ‘condolences’ thread but quickly became about politics.

I commented very early on that I didn't think this thread (of condolences) was the place for politics.

Clearly, it has become a thread about politics.

Yes, truly awful. The video clip of the police shooting the suspect was so surreal, just an ordinary street on a dreary October day, but with untold horror.

Beachtastic · 02/10/2025 18:52

nomas · 02/10/2025 18:45

True; I suppose we just have to wait and see if it was the Kurdistan Workers' Party.

Beachtastic · 02/10/2025 18:52

You said it had been confirmed as Islamist. It may well be turn out to be so, but you saying it had been confirmed in US media as such and then not being able to provide a link does need to be challenged.

Lampzade · 02/10/2025 18:56

If the truth be told there are some people using the situation in Palestine as a front to air their anti Semitism .
They couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the suffering in Gaza all they care about is criticising Jewish people

90% of the time in the UK over the last 20 years says it is - sadly.

You're quite right. It could equally well have been the Russian Imperial Movement, the Baluchistan Liberation Army, or the Maniacs Murder Cult. Time will tell. Sorry I jumped the gun.

Sick people need rounding up and prosecuting. They are vile and show their hatred openly.

We don't even know that, that is true. The PP hasn't posted any evidence, despite being asked.
