That's not what you said though. You said that no Muslim country marches on behalf of any other country unless it actively affects them. Well this is Israel marching against their OWN leader and the handling of their own war.

SomethingFun · 02/10/2025 18:07

So sorry this has happened in Manchester which is my home. There are large Jewish communities in North Manchester and the people I know in those communities are scared because of the rise in blatant anti-semitism they have witnessed in the last couple of years. It is obviously there all the time, lurking under the surface, ready to pop out at the right opportunity. I’m astounded people cannot see their own antisemitism but it’s a proper blind spot for so many people who consider themselves liberal and kind. Which is sickening at a whole new level.

miraxxx · 02/10/2025 18:07

Political left sounds like you are talking about the people in the Labour party, SNP, Greens, Lib Dems - and we should acknowledge that the current politically left government have designated Free Palestine as a terrorist organisation and continued to send arms to Israel - so to say that they support anti-semitism wreaks of cognitive dissonance.

What the actual fuck?! The deputy leader of the Greens was celebrating on Oct 8 2023. Members of the Labour party including current Home secretary have been marching behind people screaming the most awful things. You have some blinkers on. You didn't even get the name of the proscribed organisation correct.
Even today the hamasniks are marching in Manchester. Today. Many of them will be bogstandard lefties, your tribe.

Because some twonk would screech islamaphobia if she was sacked

Disgusting and now we know why they want to bring in Islamophobia laws so they can basically get away with hate without being called to account.

And letting people in who we have no idea whether they should be on watch lists or not and sticking them in hotels in the middle of our communities.surely anyone arriving undocumented on these shores should be detained and kept apart from society until we have ascertained they are no risk.

Absolutely this. I'm pro immigration, but it's important we don't risk the security of those already here already. A genuine refugee or asylum seeker isn't going to risk their claim by committing serious crimes.

Let's not forget many of us here with a Jewish heritage had ancestors who came to Britain because we were desperately fleeing pogroms. Most of us are very far from being anti immigration per se.

People like you and your imaginary genocide are stoking division and enabling terror like this.

imaginary genocide
You think I and the whole world imagined it-bizarre. Do you actually watch the news?

gorlomi · 02/10/2025 18:11

Do we know the attacker is Muslim?

Ihatetomatoes · 02/10/2025 18:11

WolfingtonBear · 02/10/2025 11:33

Sadly it was only a matter of time. Just horrendous.

We have seen Islamic terror attacks before. Heard the vile, cowardly attacker has been shot dead, hope he rots. Two more in custody.

Thoughts to the victims, family and friends. There is no place for Antisemitism in the UK. Thoughts with the Jewish community. They are so vulnerable and need more protection from the hatred.

gorlomi · 02/10/2025 18:12

Has it been confirmed as Islamic attacks yet?

He looked like a very confused old man. I think the fact she didn't drag him away possibly means it wasn't her dad or someone she knew.

If she didn't know him I would wonder if she was a bit nervous about dragging or pulling him in case people thought she was part of the attack and was hurting him?

I don't think any of us know how we'd react until we were in the midst of it. We can only hope we'd react in the best way. When the shop I had my Saturday job in when I was at uni was held up I didn't react as I'd expect, and the second time it happened all my "if it happens I will..." went right out the window.

Watching the news this evening, it looked like he had a tripod ( too long for a walking stick) and was filming. ☹️

It's disgusting. Its open online antisemitism including on MN. It needs sorting out. The awful marches for a conflict that is nothing to do with Jewish people in the UK.

A young Jewish boy said what have we done to deserve this. Absolutely nothing at all.

Do you actually understand what genocide is??
Clearly not.

Sky news journalist calling the synagogue 'mosque' twice in about 10 seconds. Utter morons.

Apparently there were cars of Muslims driving around the area laughing and with music blaring

Horrific

Sick people need rounding up and prosecuting. They are vile and show their hatred openly.

The police have stated it was a terror attack and won’t release any further information to ensure safety at the scene.

That's what I thought. Although, I think we all know it was an Islamic terror attack.

gorlomi · 02/10/2025 18:16

Where?

Manchester police confirmed it is a Terrorist Attack.
If you look at the front pages of all of the papers you can see the terrorist before he was shot.
It hasn’t been confirmed he was a Muslim but I’m going to take an educated guess and say he is. If he isn’t I’ll apologise.
The fact that the police haven’t said he is speaks volumes frankly. Too scared of being called ‘islampohobic’ or ‘racist’ I suspect.

We need to question why people feel so emboldened to do this.

Osmosisfreight · 02/10/2025 18:22

No matter your political or religious beliefs, your race, colour or creed what happened today is absolutely tragic, my heart is heavy so I cannot even begin to imagine how the Jewish community feel, especially on the holiest of days.

The state of the world is so sad.

Seems incredibly cowardly of them. They'll have to say it eventually.

Where?

If you look on US news sites, they are less mealy-mouthed about this and say it's been confirmed by UK antiterrorism police as an act of terrorism.

I think UK news sites are more anxious about upsetting people.

Terrorist doesn't automatically mean Islamic terrorism though does it.

why is no one stating the damn obvious.
