Absolutely shocking attack at the Heaton Park Synagogue in Crumpsall North Manchester. My heart goes out to all those hurt and affected by this terrible atrocity.

How dare I what exactly?? To suggest that Israel is committing genocide? Like most of the world! That there is a arrest warrant out for Netanyaho? If anyone is part of the problem it's you. Stocking division rather than unity.

People like you and your imaginary genocide are stoking division and enabling terror like this.

Uggbootsforever · 02/10/2025 15:58

I will mention that Corbyn did, thankfully, describe this as an antisemitic attack in his statement; although I expect he will stop short of calling out the ideology. Al Jazeera called it a ‘reported multiple stabbing near to a synagogue’.

This is horrific. My thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones. I suspect this is politically motivated. I wish people would realise that not all Jewish people are zionists. Pray for peace. This barbarism doesn’t belong on our streets.

Eh? Do you even know what a Zionist is? Do you think it’s ok to target the Zionist Jews?

clipboardz · 02/10/2025 15:59

What has struck me about today's attack was how it's the same methodology that Palestinian terrorists use in Israel. They use cars to mow down people and they commonly use knives aswell

Terrorist attacks in this fashion have already happened here.

what did he say? I’ve only seen his post on X.
The man is useless at best, dangerous at worst. He needs to go.

He was going on about how Jews have felt unsafe for such a long time and no one should feel unsafe, while he knows full well London has become a no go area for most Jews on a Saturday. There's also been a number of antisemitic incidents in London where either the police/CPS haven't taken things further or haven't charged the offender with a hate crime but with a lesser crime instead. Crimes against Jews have either gone unpunished or have been downplayed

Yes, someone was saying on another thread how Jewish schools have to have this heavy security.

The Ozar Hatorah school in Toulouse was attacked by an islamist terrorist in 2012. The first victim was 30-year-old Jonathan Sandler, a rabbi and teacher at the school who was shot outside the school gates as he tried to shield his two young sons from the gunman. The gunman shot both the boys, 5-year-old Arié and 3-year-old Gabriel. Inside, he shot at staff, parents, and students. He chased 8-year-old Myriam Monsonego, into the courtyard, caught her by her hair and raised a gun to shoot her in her temple at point-blank range. Bryan Bijaoui, a 17-year-old boy, was also shot and gravely injured.

In the Uk, just weeks ago, synagogues and a jewish nursery were smeared with faeces. Yes, it is all to save babies in Gaza. Of course. Whatever else could it be?

And neither should it be reported until the details are known about this specific individual

But a man who looks as if he is Muslim and from ME ethnicity, attacks a Jewish community on a specifically religious day for that community

Even bare minimum information like that, what does it look like to you?

And it would be fairly remarkable, although not impossible, if the authorities didnt already have him on some sort of watch list. People dont just wake up and decide to do this one day, there is communication and planning and sourcing of material

Obviously there will be questions to ask as to why he wasnt able to stopped but thats for later

I think the fact they’ve arrested two other people could indicate they knew exactly who he was.

i see the Muslim Trust -funded by the Government have issued a statement

DrBlackbird · 02/10/2025 16:01

clipboardz · 02/10/2025 15:57

@DrBlackbird what are you wondering? If he was muslim?

Yes. And wondering if it is wrong to assume that?

And a Palestinian spokesman on the Andrew Marr show on LBC last night described the hostages in Gaza as being 'detained' 🙄

clipboardz · 02/10/2025 16:04

@DrBlackbird realistically it's going to be islamic or far right but far right don't tend to go in for the bomb vests. We will just have to wait and see what the authorities say.

Detained?! I hope that he was challenged for using that term?

MrsEmmelineLucas · 02/10/2025 16:07

The police are saying that the bravery of the worshippers and security staff prevented this from being far more serious.

LunaDeBallona · 02/10/2025 16:08

Greater Manchester Police have just issued a statement confirming this was a Terrorist Attack.
I just hope this wakes people up.
21 out of the 28 terrorist attacks in The UK in the last 20 years have been comitted by islamists.
The staff and security staff today saved many many people from being murdered. They must have been terrified.

Surely this is more for other threads not one where Jewish posters have talked about feeling afraid.

I believe them.

Not in the slightest. Nothing he said was challenged. But that's quite typical of Marr, he seems to have lost his backbone since leaving the BBC

And to top it off at the end of the 'interview' he said how he always had the most informed guests!!

siliconcover · 02/10/2025 16:10

MrsEmmelineLucas · 02/10/2025 11:50

On Yom Kippur, an important and solemn day for the community.
Our Jewish brothers and sisters should be able to worship and congregate in peace🌹

Indeed. I only hope that this doesn't further spiral into increased tensions and outside actors stirring up trouble. It is quite bad enough as it is. Poor people.

Beachtastic · 02/10/2025 16:12

MrsEmmelineLucas · 02/10/2025 15:51

Whether any Jews have been on marches or speak for or against Zionism is completely and utterly irrelevant.
A place of worship was attacked on the most holy day.
That is a hate crime.

Just like Greta's much-applauded "mercy mission" approaching Israel on Yom Kippur with the support of Hamas funding, echoing their attacks on 7/10/23 which exploited Israel's national religious holiday of Simchat Torah.

If I see one more post on this thread parroting Israel's "genocide" as though this is a factual statement, I will scream. They have contributed to what happened today.

Venomous hatred has been whipped up into a frenzy very successfully by radical Islam terrorists whose focus is on destroying Israel and the Jewish people, but it won't stop there. And the UK is sleepwalking into it with their passion for being on the "right side" of social media.

Spineless and craven.
"Detained" my arse.

When the Manchester Arena terror attack happened I do not remember anyone saying on a thread here "well look at how many dc the war on Terror killed".

Edited

I dont know why it would be wrong to assume that

Things are often what they seem to be. I dont see much ambiguity here

Im not sure (Im not say this about you per se) people are so oversensitive to call something what it is very likely to be.

Its a Muslim extrremist terrorist attack on the Jewish community. I'll eat my hat if its not.

Tg we have our own systems on terrorism and Al Jazeera has no place in that. I know some do look to it though for insight.

Apparently they aren’t saying anything atm for “safety reasons at the scene” make if that what you will.

I don't have a source as I'm sharing a screenshot someone else shared. It seems very pertinent right now

Here’s the general tone of the responses to Corbyn’s post.

What does this even mean? So it's ok to go out and murder British Jews?
