Absolutely shocking attack at the Heaton Park Synagogue in Crumpsall North Manchester. My heart goes out to all those hurt and affected by this terrible atrocity.

Abd the right encouraging it.

Encouraging it, how?

Antisemitism is a left-wing issue and always has been.

Busybeemumm · 02/10/2025 13:39

But Israel is not defending itself. It's committing genocide as now recognised by most countries in the world.

As I said my my first post this is not the day for the world politics and conflating two separate issues-government and religion. Its about giving strength and support to the Jewish community who no doubt will be in mourning following the attack on a synagogue.

I agree with your second paragraph and don’t think the first is necessary atm

Followthattaxi · 02/10/2025 13:41

And this has been posted on a news Facebook page under the headline of what has happened. And yet, people don't believe there's antisemitism in the UK.

I don’t blame Muslims for this. They are just as innocent in all of this, getting on with their lives in our usually peaceful country.

I am wondering how the government are going to manage this extremism - not just this element but all of it. We are a tolerant and caring nation, most of us do not want to see any extreme views/parties/action and can see all sides of any one situation.

We need a return to calm debate, all voices heard and solutions considered. To unwind the rising tide of intolerance and return literally to our roots of tolerance, decency and an understanding that all sides are in some way ‘right’ it’s never black and white.

Say what now??

ShamedAndsincere · 02/10/2025 13:42

In that particular area Muslims and Jews have lived alongside eachother peacefully for years. I’m from Manchester, I’m so sad to see this.

lifeonmars100 · 02/10/2025 13:42

I've got the news on now and there are people who have taken chairs out onto the street so they can sit and watch all the emergency services going about their work. I just cannot fathom that sort of mentality, show some respect, this appalling event is not a spectator event.

Deebee90 · 02/10/2025 13:43

Funny how it’s always people from the same community that carry out these terrorist attacks. I’m from the area and have friends that go to this synagogue. What’s happened today is disgraceful, scary and not fair. These people just want to live in peace they didn’t deserve this. I’m so glad the attacker didn’t get as far especially now I’ve just heard what he was wearing. The world is a scary place.

Unfinishedkitchn · 02/10/2025 13:44

There hasn't been any mention in the news whether the police believe he was a lone wolf or not. That's my main worry right now.

ImperfectAlf · 02/10/2025 12:00

It’s totally horrendous, but unfortunately not unexpected. The way Israelis and Jewish people in general have been vilified, especially recently, has almost made something like this inevitable.

im so sorry that Britain has come to this

Totally agree. The vilification has been appalling.

They can't help themselves, EasternStandard; there always has to be a "but", brought out all too predictably as yet more die

Hamiltonfan · 02/10/2025 13:45

Absolutely devastating attack on my community. Those who have been chanting to globalise the intifada - you have blood on your hands.

Keir Starmer wouldn’t be coming back if it was a lone wolf who had been shot dead, this isn’t his voter base.

Abd the right encouraging it.

Knee jerk reaction to anything criticising the left is to blame the right wing or to shout "Racist or bigot" at the person making the criticism

ImperfectAlf · 02/10/2025 13:46

Uggbootsforever · 02/10/2025 13:25

No, it’s not bad that you wished that, but I will be honest, the vacuum where utter condemnation should be in the Muslim community when these things happen will be noted

We all need to be condemning this atrocity and others like it.

Precisely.
Nearly three years ago, charges were dropped against several men who drove around Jewish areas of North London shouting antisemitic abuse.
We have an A&E doctor still being allowed to practice despite clearly antisemitic posts on social media.
A Jewish man was advised by police not to cross the road through a pro-Palestine rally (and various outlets pretzeled themselves into making this 100% his fault).

I have Jewish friends - who will today be keeping Yom Kippur - who are considering leaving the UK. Back in the summer, I urged them not to. Now, not so sure.

I am so, so sad that my country has come to this.

@PurpleThistle7 best wishes to you.

Lampzade · 02/10/2025 13:47

I am not Jewish, but I truly believe that there are some heartless, vile individuals who will simply not care that there has been an attack on Jewish people.
In fact they will revel in it .
So unbelievably sad. What is the world coming to ?

Words · 02/10/2025 13:47

Awful, horrifying and hideously inevitable.
My thoughts are with the whole Community.

Uggbootsforever · 02/10/2025 13:47

He recognised Palestine as a state a matter of days ago and this happens 😖 he’s toast

Pricelessadvice · 02/10/2025 13:48

Innocent people who got up this morning to go about their day and visit their place of worship.
I despair of the human race.

Are you kidding me? Every single media outlet, influencer, protester repeating propaganda, outright lies, justifications, tropes are completely complicit and to blame for this. Nobody really stands up for Jews, not really. We are in such a minority and Israel is a tiny country, and all the shit I’ve seen and heard these past 2 years dehumanising Jews, using words like Zionist to hide behind, denying antisemitism, outright blatant racism - is horrifying. This attack is exactly how the Holocaust started and the ONLY reason the Germans (and most of Europe) got behind the Nazis to systematically ghettoise and eventually slaughter Jews is the propaganda and dehumanisation of Jewish people. I’m not surprised by what’s happened. Not one Jew is. But I’ll tell you this with absolute conviction: if you think for one moment that this will end with the Jews then you’re wrong. This is absolutely political and the government, media, social media are 100% to blame.

I meant in terms of this thread, which I'd expected was about sadness for other human beings rather than politics.

I agree with you. if you think for one moment that this will end with the Jews then you’re wrong. This is absolutely political and the government, media, social media are 100% to blame.

We are living in a country divided by hatred.

Not to mention the flotilla. They’ll be gutted this will take attention away from them. It’ll be lost on them that they’ll likely come back with their lives, while at least 2 Jewish people didn’t escape with theirs
