Civil unrest, what's really going on?

1000 replies

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 17:02

My DH keeps chirping up with, there's riots here, protests there, immigrants have done assaults in xxx etc. He sees me as a bit of a do-gooder..

All UK places, but when I look at my regular news, there's very little reporting of it.

My DH has some MH issues currently and to confront him with 'what the heck are you reading?' isn't worth it right now.
I make comments such as, ooh that sounds grim and doesn't sound good, and that's very worrying, but I'd really like to know if it's really happening and where he's getting this info.

Alex Jones was involved according to SYL's lawyer, another fine upstanding guy Hmm

You don’t need to be an upstanding person to be wronged or to be (occasionally) telling the truth.

No, more the way in which when local officials are related to one another or followers of a common extreme religious view it’s very hard to achieve true fairness, democracy etc - to put it mildly.

It is a fair point. Corruption exists in all parts of government, local and national, regardless of religious affiliation

But I still don't see how this one case extrapolates into:

"very nefarious Islamic figures at play in every day British life and policy, the reach of which most people have no idea"

But there we are. I think we could argue the toss all evening.

You missed out liar

Ok. So - if he covertly recorded the people involved, and they confirmed his version of events, would you say he is still lying?

There’s a really complex web of people. I would honestly need about an hour to type it out in full and it would only be dismissed as rubbish anyway. But I have very grave concerns about quite a lot of people in public life and the discrepancy between how they sell themselves for public votes and their views and intentions in private. And this goes far beyond the usual political sleaze.

I see it’s been answered by pp

ES I do wish you would stop accusing me of trying to get James deleted. Asking for clarity and evidence is a reasonable thing.

JamesMacGill · 04/08/2025 18:09

The best way to describe it is probably how any sane person sees Trump/Epstein and their ‘associates’. There’s a breadcrumb trail and any sane person with eyes can see there’s some kind of network that either exists or did exist and that the workings behind it were totally nefarious. But anyone demanding ‘WHERE’S YOUR EVIDENCE’ wouldn’t be satisfied with what you had.

Fair point. The name Farage springs to mind.

Thank you!

So the documentary only covers that case?

I thought perhaps there was something wider addressed as well. The "very nefarious Islamic figures at play in every day British life and policy, the reach of which most people have no idea" that pp referred to.

Eta: agree that neither of the boys should have been named.

Well it’s TR after all. So it’s got an air of conspiracy undercurrent of all that.

I think if the alleged story is true it’s probably less that and more likely stupid knee jerk high horseing by MSM. Council/ Gov panicking and can’t set the record straight because they can’t just breach everyone’s details. Plus it’s kids, so it’s all alleged and not done in a court of law. So not going to pile in on hearsay. So just thought we need to make this go away. Close the school. NDA everyone.

As in it’s at worst a bit like the grooming scandals where everyone is scared of being racist/ starting race wars. At best, they just wanted it to disappear because they aren’t in a position to set the record straight properly.

I don’t disagree; he’s one of the people I consider nefarious beyond the usual politician sleaze. I wouldn’t trust him as far as I can throw him; and I would never vote Reform, mostly due to climate reasons. Anyone who wants to paint me as some kind of right wing zealot will fail.

But equally the same names crop up time and time again and I’ve noticed a worrying pattern of shady behaviour. I’m not the only person who feels this way.

Yes you always have to consider that even if there is a ‘cover up’ it’s not for the reasons assumed. But here I think it is; due to the characteristics of all the key players.

You might know something I don’t. Absolutely. As I said I took it very loosely and my main takeaway was well he’s not wrong that the accused kid got completely screwed over. It was really out of order.

Oh the main victim is the accused child, not TR.

OonaStubbs · 04/08/2025 18:24

They need to stop with the cover-ups and "playing down concerns". If there's concerns to be had, let people be concerned. It's time for everything to be brought out in the open and everyone to be completely aware of what is going on in their midst.

Watermelonnice · 04/08/2025 18:24

Not seen the documentary but remember the case at the time.

Agree neither boy should have been named. Who was named first any by who?

I did become a little unsure of how authorities handle certain sensitive incidents likely to inflame communities after the treatment of the Batley RE teacher to be honest and tend to try and read multiple sources of information to get a clearer picture.

I would agree with this and am also fully behind transparency.

When you start feeling that things don’t add up or that you’re not getting the full picture it fuels mistrust, confusion and conspiracy theories.

You start to worry that the full picture is worse than you thought it was….

No, he went to jail because there wasn’t sufficient evidence to prove his claim. Because - according to him - those who could support it were too afraid to speak out - as they said in his covert recording.

The full picture is worse than you believe. But I'm politically homeless, thinking all parties are at best inept.

PandoraSocks · 04/08/2025 18:53

This is Zoe William's excellent summing up of TGT. Its influence is plain to see across SM and in real life.

"This is the great replacement theory, the organising principle of white supremacists: it isn’t voguish any more to simply hint that white people are better. When you’re looking to get racism off the sofa and generate a bigotry with some observable output, you have to create the sense of an active threat. This is where you bring in grand conspiracies, where Muslims seek to overrun the Judeo-Christian order by first arriving and then breeding faster. It’s an unabashed and disgusting assertion, taking as its first principle that every baby isn’t as precious, as miraculous, as exquisite as the next".

Yeah, all that could be true and even so, the facts I gave still stand. A broken clock is right twice a day, and until you can actually dispute the recording, using pure insults won’t help your case.

Labour have reduced the number of hotels used for asylum seekers by at least half and they've done that by ramping up processing and deportations, they've gone what you voted for but it's a long winded battle. Reform won't be in the general election, Nigel Farage has always refused to run for PM, he exploited racists to vote for Brexit to protect offshore tax havens. He won't have any money or clout or any idea how to deal with the problem that his Brexit created! There's no instant fix to Brexit swinging this door wide open and creating millions of vacancies that these illegals are needed to fill - something for those who hate benefit reforms to think about!

Labour have reduced the number of hotels used for asylum seekers by at least half

Not according to this;

Full Fact 24 July 2025

while 213 hotels were being used to house asylum seekers when Labour entered government, according to minister for border security and asylum Dame Angela Eagle, in July 2025 a Home Office spokesperson told us this had decreased by three, to 210

The latest available data on the number of asylum seekers being housed in hotels covers up to the end of March 2025. It shows that figure stood at 32,345 by the end of March 2025 (approximately 30% of all those in receipt of support - meaning the number of asylum seekers housed in hotels is, as far as we know, approximately 9% higher than when Labour formed a government.

We’ve asked the government how many asylum seekers are being housed in the 210 hotels in use as of July 2025, and will update this page if we receive a response.
