Civil unrest, what's really going on?

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 17:02

My DH keeps chirping up with, there's riots here, protests there, immigrants have done assaults in xxx etc. He sees me as a bit of a do-gooder..

All UK places, but when I look at my regular news, there's very little reporting of it.

My DH has some MH issues currently and to confront him with 'what the heck are you reading?' isn't worth it right now.
I make comments such as, ooh that sounds grim and doesn't sound good, and that's very worrying, but I'd really like to know if it's really happening and where he's getting this info.

Yes, apparently it's classed as an extreme right wing terrorist ideology now

Oh ffs!

Protest marches in London, Essex and Manchester have been leading on the BBC news on R4 last week or so.
@Sadworld23 the problem with YouTube is the reports are unverified and once you watch one type of report the algorithm pushes others that are increasingly outlandish. Take for example the story of the woman walking her dog who disappeared by a river with her phone still on a meeting call. YouTube reports were absolutely bizarre and it caused a lot of heartache to her husband and DDs in addition to the fact she was missing. She had indeed fallen in the river as police first suggested but the family had to endure awful speculation mainly whipped up by YouTube “news” reports and Twitter.
BBC news is incredibly rigourous - that’s why people call it woke, right wing or left wing .. it’s trying to tread a path down the middle that is none sensationalist and judgemental.

It’s also good to remember there are bad men everywhere of all colour, race and religion not just immigrants and refugees - white men have perpetuated many awful crimes too but we don’t kick them out of this country.

Agree with this. There are many issues on this threat to debate but this is the one I'll start with. The usual claim is that the "mainstream media" are not covering the protests. They are. They are also covering arrests - usually in local printed news which then gets picked up in national news. There is no organised conspiracy to keep things quiet. The UK government does not own the MSM - surely we have seen enough cases where MSM have exposed government (of all hues) mismanagement to realise this. If the government owned the MSM (all of it!) then we would not see the criticism and holding to account that we do.

What is alarming on here is that people are turning to ChatGPT (which told my friend he was dead following a news report about him when he was very much alive), X/Twitter, YouTube and other citizen based media for their news. None of these outlets do the necessary due diligence and check the validity of the source much less the detail of the claims, especially if it gets clicks and traction. Disinformation is rife and there are interested parties bent on widening the divisions. People read a comment from someone and it is then claimed as a fact rather than an opinion.

Each time we read an article we should ask "who is writing this? - are they a credible source?", "who stands to gain from this article?", "can the claims be checked?". We also need to understand the difference between a checkable fact and opinion or rumour.

@JamesMacGill is Tommy Robinson documentary still live ?

Oh ffs!

Objecting to the influence of religious theocracies which execute dissenters, women and homosexuals, is apparently right wing extremism 🤯🤯 now this is a hill I’m willing to die on. Honestly I think eventually, when the influence begins to dominate British politics and it turns out the ‘left wing’ veneer was a vehicle to get useful idiots to vote them in, the useful idiots will say they have ’always have been against this’.

dizzydizzydizzy · 04/08/2025 14:19

Mumofnarnia · 04/08/2025 14:02

Wow you’re so full of denial that you’re even denying what you said! You come on here, a thread about a young 12 year old girl being raped and dismissed everyone by saying the perpetrators have mental health issues themselves and are the victims of crime, dodgy landlords and gangs! And have continued to deny, throughout the thread that there is a problem at all! Now you’re denying you’re denying there’s a problem! And denying ever saying it!

There is literally no mention of rape or a 12yo in the OP.

@JamesMacGill is Tommy Robinson documentary still live ?

I watched it on YouTube.

It’s really unsettling stuff which will leave you with no choice but to conclude there are very nefarious Islamic figures at play in every day British life and policy, the reach of which most people have no idea.

I felt for the people being covertly recorded, and I know doing that is ethically dubious, but the facts are literally unarguable.

The mainstream media can write in a sensationalist way but they cannot change fact. If they report a child has been kidnapped and raped, this is fact. And such shocking incidences don’t need sensationalising - any normal person would be truly disgusted and not instantly jump to ‘but racism..’

Regardless of what was mentioned in the OP, you were dismissive of them being criminals because they are ‘stressed’ and have MH problems! Some of the crimes they are committing is rape! Not a great look!

Parsley4321 · 04/08/2025 14:26

@JamesMacGill is it not the Tommy meets Mo ? It’s the other one ? Thank you

Perhaps you need to actually arm yourself with the types of crimes we’re talking about before leaping in feet first to excuse them.

There have been multiple sexual assaults and rapes, in the last week a 12 year old has been kidnapped, strangled and raped and another boat illegal immigrant attempted to abduct a 10 year old girl, thankfully she got away. Women have been murdered.

No, but assaults, molestations and a lady being stabbed to death had all been mentioned before you posted!

IDoHaveACrystalBall · 04/08/2025 14:31

@UsernameCreateded where have you been the last 15 years?! i'm honestly shocked that you don't even have starting point information.

and I doubt anyone in authority will saying anything. I think they will stonewall and hope the public give up.

EasternStandard · 04/08/2025 14:32

@dizzydizzydizzynow you are aware of the rape maybe you can see why women are attending protests.

It’s the documentary regarding his slander conviction over remarks made about a Syrian minor. Sorry I can’t remember the name, but you should be able to find it fairly easily.

Ds is a journalist on National press. There’s no media blackout.

Well it is being reported on now but considering it happened on 22nd of July which is over a week ago (nearly 2), it does seem it was attempted to be covered up, before someone blew the whistle on it.

It also seems that the multiple protest in many different areas are also not been covered by the mainstream media or national press.

Obviously, we all have our own opinions, but to me it does look like certain restrictions are being put on the press, which would not have happened in previous years.

Compare this recent coverage to the man in Liverpool who run over the Liverpool supporters at the trophy parade, we knew all about him within 24 hours.

justasking111 · 04/08/2025 14:40

Friend Welsh married a Muslim surgeon. Got pregnant produced a son. Got pregnant again produced a daughter. Everything went wrong after that his treatment of her and their daughter was just awful. Their son on the other hand was the second coming. The physical and mental abuse of mother and daughter led to police involvement. Son was ten by then and also abusing his mother and sister.

Our children were at the same school, same age. When they moved up to secondary this boy would verbally abuse female teachers only listening to male teachers. The parents had separated by then.

The end result was the father who had moved to a hospital in London took custody of his son. Mother and daughter completely abandoned.

Mum said to me when they were courting, engaged, first married he was westernised, feted by colleagues at work for his surgical skills. She never found out how he'd become so radicalised in a Welsh backwater.

Was it hidden when he was younger?

Mightymooo · 04/08/2025 14:43

If you type "asylum seekers protest" into Google, literally all of the main stream media outlets have articles about it though...

Watermelonnice · 04/08/2025 14:45

Fetaface · 04/08/2025 02:07

They absolutely are. They do not wish to deal with the violent man issue. Just pretend it is just 'them' as that makes it easier to separate themselves from that group.

There is clearly an issue with male violence worldwide, you can see that from the statistics of violent crime by men compared to that by women.

why then would you want to add to this problem in the UK by importing, or allowing thousands ofmen from different cultures, who may be even more violent, especially against women and girls who they deem as lesser citizens?

You are being deliberately obtuse if youcan’t see the difference between men who are native to the UK committing crimes compared to people who the government have allowed to stay here? (Obviously violent crime is abhorrent who ever commits it, but particularly bad if the government have imported the perpetrators into our communities to roam freely without any background checks on who they are, when we have enough of our own problems).

Nothing new with the media manipulating what we are allowed to see. . . . Stasi tactics were at work back then too.
I remember back in the 80s. I used to go on a lot of demonstrations- some animal rights but mainly CND. some demos were huge (250k) - they were never reported or a small section was shown and figures massively under reported. We are entering those dark days of state control again I fear.

My friend would tootle off to attend CND rallies she had two young children but was passionate. Partly because her parents had fled a European country in the early sixties because of the USSR..

I'd follow the press because I knew where she was and why. Absolutely zip reported.

JamesMacGill · 04/08/2025 14:56

I don’t think there is a recognised, government ordered blackout. I think the press pretty much run the stories they always would have, with some newspapers leaning into anything immigration-based more to an others. But I do think there is hesitation at source over what details are released by police, as they don’t want to then deal with rioting. The problem is in doing this they appear to be on the side of the perpetrator and mass illegal immigration in general. The press can then only publish what they know or are told.

So how do the foreign press get the facts that domestic press can't?

Do you provide the cars?

It’s all electric bikes here. Groups gather in the city centre waiting for the call to pick up food from wherever. I wonder if their right to work is ever checked.
