Civil unrest, what's really going on?

1000 replies

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 17:02

My DH keeps chirping up with, there's riots here, protests there, immigrants have done assaults in xxx etc. He sees me as a bit of a do-gooder..

All UK places, but when I look at my regular news, there's very little reporting of it.

My DH has some MH issues currently and to confront him with 'what the heck are you reading?' isn't worth it right now.
I make comments such as, ooh that sounds grim and doesn't sound good, and that's very worrying, but I'd really like to know if it's really happening and where he's getting this info.

Of course, they can say they came from these countries…. But they destroy their documents so how do we know where they came from? Nobody knows them from Adam!

And again, where are the women and children? Why is it only young men?? Or are these statistics of the BBC only for genuine refugees and not economic migrants disguised as refugees? You’re screenshotting stats that suit your narrative!

Edited

The line that’s trotted out time and time again is that the men are leaving them there so they can come to the U.K, as that’s the second language they can speak and might also have family here, set up a life and then send for their families.

Which is frankly, bollocks. Would your husband or son leave you and your young children and older relatives in danger while they stood outside hotels smoking and making comments to young girls? No, no they wouldn’t.

Oh, and the poor things all seem to lose their documents on the way! Such bad luck.

It’s all such bullshit and I’m really glad the tide seems to be turning against it.

The Irish are pretty pissed off too, and France is not far behind.

Greece is getting pretty hardline and Denmark is actually putting in policies that would get some Labour mners going if we had the same - from a centre left gov

Phobiaphobic · 04/08/2025 11:18

JamesMacGill · 04/08/2025 01:16

Many crimes committed aren’t ones illegal immigrants can actually commit - for example driving offences (they don’t have cars), fraud related offences (they don’t work, have mortgages etc). It’s also estimated the number is likely higher owing to the refusal of the authorities to actually confirm numbers - these are merely the ones definitely picked up on.

Of course we should forensically number count their crimes, we are choosing to admit them to the country. We have no choice over allowing British criminals to remain here, but we do with illegal immigrant criminals. I will repeat this as much as necessary as it’s the point always batted away and ignored despite the fact it’s at the heart of the matter.

According to my search, the UK Parliament has noted that illegal migrants crossing the English Channel are 24 times more likely to end up in British jails compared to British-born citizens. This indicates a significant overrepresentation of migrants in the criminal justice system relative to their population size.

If the country is so dangerous that they have no choice but to make the journey, then it’s too dangerous to leave their family in for the years it takes to get the paperwork done. They’re chancers after the benefits. I stand by that comment.

🤣🤣🤣 Exactly, they twist themselves in so many knots trying to find excuses to suit their narrative! I’d love to know who came up with that excuse, they deserve an award for script writing!

Your country is either at war or it isn’t! You don’t let your wife and children sit around in a war torn ‘dangerous’ country while you destroy all your documentation and any evidence you have of your family status and go swanning off passing through many safe countries to get to France and then leave France, which is also a safe country and risk your life coming to the UK on a boat and living the life or Riley while raping 12 year old girls!

YouSetTheTone · 04/08/2025 11:28

dizzydizzydizzy · 04/08/2025 10:17

Of course I don’t! I am a decent and reasonable person.

But the evidence is that asylum seekers are no more likely to commit this type of crime than anyone else.

Under international law, we have an obligation to protect refugees. There are many dangerous counties in the world where thr people are living under constant conflict - Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia, Myanmar, Sudan to name but a few.

Actually evidence shows the opposite - that the number of rapes committed by men from countries like Afghanistan vastly outnumber those from white British men.

They can never wrap their heads around the fact it’s certain group of immigrants committing a certain type of crime.

GentleSheep · 04/08/2025 11:31

Well done to the very young George Finch (councillor in Nuneaton) for speaking out about the Afghan rape, no matter what any of us think about Farage/Reform.

Phobiaphobic · 04/08/2025 11:33

PandoraSocks · 04/08/2025 09:24

I am sure some of the protesters are genuinely worried, but the fact is there are a lot of thugs using the protests as an excuse to vent their racism. The chap below for example.

But surely the same is true of Antifa or BLM riots and protests?

YouSetTheTone · 04/08/2025 11:43

FractionalKrispie · 04/08/2025 09:17

@YouSetTheTone

My point was - that crime, the worst crimes are mostly committed by men.

So rather than pointing the finger at one particular culture I COULD stereotype all men, incite hatred on ‘X’, advocate that they are not fit for modern society, isolated, held in detention centres etc.

I don’t think that’s the solution.

I don’t think widespread segregation of men and women is the answer, that’s a strange thing to say.

I think recognising that unvetted men from countries with cultures that have extremely misogynist attitudes towards women is a problem for women and girls in this country is a step towards a solution.
Saying otherwise is a luxury belief. One that makes people feel superior morally (oh look I’m so kind and I’m not racist), and suggests that you’re probably not in an area that’s feeling the consequences of unvetted illegal immigration of mostly fighting age men.

Yes because they’re the only people who have nothing to lose by attending the marchers. There are many, many, many people who would like to peacefully attend but know as part of the shaming process they would be judged by people at work, possibly their friends and family, and assumptions made about them being racists or in favour of setting fire to immigrant hotels. Most people prioritise keeping their job and home over an issue which they see as seriously concerning but ‘others have picked up on’; or that can wait til tomorrow. It doesn’t mean ‘only thugs are against small boats’, otherwise why do you think there is such high support for Reform? Not every person in the poll saying they will vote for them are people who rioted last year and are marching now. There is a huge silent agreement with them, but the more intelligent, peaceful supporters won’t be attending those marches, for fears of character assassination and loss of employment.

You've absolutely hit the nail on the head! Am I concerned that Brexit got rid of all our European Labour and left us with with this illegal immigration crisis? Yes indeed! But I don't believe that men, women and kids should be shot in the head on the boats or that every person with skin colour should be abused or hotels burnt down or shops looted! As responsible people we do not want to associate ourselves with people that are very extreme and write a lot of extreme and dark stuff online! These people must largely be non workers given how little they worry about their extreme comments causing issues with employability!

I had a situation where a woman was racially abusing a local guy on a community page because he is opening a Turkish restaurant that most of us can't wait for! She told him to go back to where he came from which happens to be London! Her abuse of him was vile and she has pics of her secondary school aged grandson all over her profile, she didn't care what the fall out might be to her grandson over her online behaviour when people at his school see it etc.

Hang on, are we allowing undocumented people into this country as asylum seekers?
So actually we have no idea who these people are or where they’re really from?

If so, that’s unbelievable.

As I’ve said, I do think a refugee camp is the way forward until either approved or sent off…. But shouldn’t even accept them into that if they don’t have any documentation!

I would agree with that recognition but there's men coming from cultures that aren't like that too and far righters don't like acknowledging that they aren't all of that culture, just like they pretend they are all men - I saw footage of illegals on beaches this morning and there's was many women and children. They are not all male predators as intelligence should tell you!

They dump their documents.

Thats how 30 year old men end up pretending to be 15 year old boys and end up in foster homes and in schools. They look like 30 year old men, they act like 30 year old men, but the excuse is that stress ages them. Question it and you are a right wing racist.

Yes we have been accepting them and they’ve been allowed into hotels while their applications for asylum are being processed. It’s well known that they destroy their documents before arriving here. Then claim they lost them! Nobody knows who the hell these people are, their history, if they are criminals or anything! They could be absolutely anybody! Most of them are young fighting age men leaving their families behind from so-called ‘war torn countries’ but nobody knows for certain where they came from or if they are fleeing a war torn country because they have conveniently ‘lost’ their documentation! It’s been a well known fact for ages!

Of course they aren't documented, but the Tories told them they could have the jobs left behind by EU workforce after Brexit so they flocked here & have the right to apply for asylum when they get here.

No! I had no idea. That’s absolutely shocking! I can barely believe it. Whose bright idea was it to do it that way?! That urgently needs changing and I certainly hope there’s an announcement declaring they need documentation immediately going forward…..

But I'm not, without Brexit this wouldn't ever have happened! The Tories literally did a press conference telling people they were opening up vacancies to the wider world - give it a Google if you don't believe me! We were left with recruitment crises because of Brexit. You need to own it if you voted for it no matter how painful you find your truth. We didn't have this issue at this scale before Brexit!

You’re mixing up types of immigration. Work visas are different to channel crossings.

This is what everyone is up in arms about and why there’s so many protests. They aren’t genuine refugees, they are young men coming here on boats, destroying all their documents and then being put up in hotels and being allowed to freely walk about on our streets raping young girls and hanging about in gangs in children’s parks, following women and making them feel uncomfortable! There are landlords being offered big sums of money to kick out their tenants and convert the houses into HMOs to accommodate these people! It’s beyond a bloody joke! Yet we still get the bleeding hearts on here claiming genuinely worried people are ‘far right racists’ and ‘nazi scum’ while dismissing, denying and gaslighting people by saying these men are genuine refugees.

This thread, of course is to highlight the fact that the mainstream media refuse to report on these incidents because it suits the government’s left wing narrative that we should just accept them into the country with bleeding hearts. This is why you don’t know what’s been happening because it’s being covered up by mainstream media and the only line they ever spew is ‘far right’ protests this and ‘far right thugs’ that!

Its not far right racist thugs it’s genuine members of the public who are concerned for their children’s safety

YanTanTetheraPetheraBumfitt · 04/08/2025 12:22

So say Farage got in and he reckons everything will be different and he’ll stop it all/send them back. Can he legally do that?

bacause the tories couldn’t get Rwanda planes off the ground when the courts said it was illegal. Will Farage just change the law? Surely it’s not that simple or Pritti Patel would have done so.

It’s not just the heinous crime, it’s the coverup of VAWG too.

Absolutely. I’m not on social media (unless you count mumsnet), so I haven’t seen anything about this at all. The information I’ve gathered was from reading some of the thread. I can’t believe it’s not in mainstream news.

I thought the issue from part of what I’ve read on here was men (with identification) were coming here from a country - again verified, being allowed to walk streets before asylum was granted and cause harm to British citizens. I also assumed before asylum could be granted that they’d do as detailed a possible background check on them and it would be very hard to be granted asylum. But obviously that must not be something that happens if they don’t even know who they really are or where they’re from. And then I thought issue would also be if not granted, they’re supporting each other to live here as illegal immigrants since they’re roaming and can go anywhere and can cause more harm.

So basically doing the things mentioned, but I assumed we knew who they were and where from even if nothing else about them. But obviously I’d got that wrong, which makes it all the worse!!

There are changes that need to happen immediately, with further changes over the next few weeks. If there’s not an announcement soon I can imagine there being a protest large enough calling for a new election that’ll surely make the news!

Fully expecting Reform to comment on this situation with what they want to do over next day or two, which will make more people aware too in mainstream media.
