Civil unrest, what's really going on?

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 17:02

My DH keeps chirping up with, there's riots here, protests there, immigrants have done assaults in xxx etc. He sees me as a bit of a do-gooder..

All UK places, but when I look at my regular news, there's very little reporting of it.

My DH has some MH issues currently and to confront him with 'what the heck are you reading?' isn't worth it right now.
I make comments such as, ooh that sounds grim and doesn't sound good, and that's very worrying, but I'd really like to know if it's really happening and where he's getting this info.

I don’t think - proportionally - we take excessively more asylum seekers than other countries in Europe e.g. Germany.

Also - the devastation in their home countries has largely been caused by the West going over in boats, murdering, and taking control of their resources.

Although the history books paint us as heroes for doing this.

I think there is one overriding factor in all of these problems - whether it’s crimes being committed or inciting riots. It’s caused by men.

Pinkelephantridesagain · 04/08/2025 06:40

Your son is right
Lots of protesters at hotels
A 12 year old was kidnapped and raped by two alyslum seekers recently, not much in the news

BeethovenNinth · 04/08/2025 06:46

why are so many young men not just sent home? Why can’t this be done? This affects much of Western Europe.

and we can’t we settle those genuinely in need?

it is absurd that people are unable to protest - this is what causes the unrest

You clearly have missed the point of my post.

Clearly.

The britannia international apparently had coach loads of migrants bussed in the other night at half 1 in the morning. There was a protest today and I think yesterday too

To sneakily ship them in in the middle of the night shows that its all wrong in the first place.
I'm not surprised there is protests.
Your husband is right OP this country, if we are not careful, will be very broke and dangerous place if this goes on.
I don't care what anyone says why can't we just chuck them all out of this country they shouldn't be here in the first place.
We are too soft with immigration and crime.

I have read through several pages of this, and see all sorts of wild claims, from unreliable sources, and yet no one is looking at the actual numbers. reported and recorded by police and government and ONS, irrespective of whether media reports a particular incident or not.

Crimes against individuals are falling. Murder, assault and rape is going down

crimes against organisations are the only ones rising in the UK, the big two are shoplifting and fraud. Neither of which have have perpetrators from the immigrant or refugee demographic in particular

I’m not pretending. I have not heard of a12 year old being kidnapped and raped by two asylum seekers.

What do you mean?

justasking111 · 04/08/2025 05:03

Yep it's all there. Cracks are appearing in the wall of silence because of you tube and other apps. Editors are being made to look like government dummies.

As for police silence a recently retired one we know said as individuals they fear retribution from upstairs. They are human, have families to support, pensions to worry about. Whistleblowers rarely fare well.

A police person accused of racism would be sacked or at least would have been a few years ago - possibly slightly less strict now - of course during g any engagement with a black or coloured person that person will claim racism.

loulouljh · 04/08/2025 07:05

Look at X. Big protests due to immigration. Not being widely reported. Protests in canary wharf. Massive protest in Manchester on Saturday.

Mydogisatool · 04/08/2025 07:05

Where I live, young girls aren’t safe. It’s not the men off the dodgy estates here, it’s the ones in hotels. Few people want to hear it though, unless they are living it.

I’ve been called over protective on here when I have said my 11 year old isn’t allowed anywhere alone. But a lot of people don’t realise what it’s like. I don’t feel safe waking my dog as a 45 year old woman who gives no shits and can tell them to get to fuck when they shout things at me, little girls have no chance.

There have been significant incidents in my area over the last 4 years that are hidden, people who speak out are labeled racist and nothing is in the press.

When I first moved here, I used to be such a snob and look down at the men from the estates here, I unfairly painted them all as Jeremy Kyle fodder. now they are the ones setting up in the park in the summer, making sure children can play without being hassled by groups of men from the hotels (not that anyone lets their children/young teens out alone now).

My husband works for the local authority in children’s services. The cover ups are unreal.

Anonybody · 04/08/2025 07:06

It isn’t being reported in mainstream media, because the gov don’t want the rest of the country aware of the extent of the issues this mass immigration is having.
The BBC is so very left. There is bias in what they choose to report on.

The issue odd being reported on youtube because it’s not being blocked there. Facebook, twitter etc have said the gov have requested they block any posts related to the issue. But they have refused.

Mydogisatool · 04/08/2025 07:08

My adult child was also a police officer. They left recently due to the two tier policing system. They worked in our closest city, is an absolute dump now, and they couldn’t take it anymore. They couldn’t speak out, they were powerless to do anything. The system is flawed.

Sandyshandy · 04/08/2025 07:08

I’m from a ruralish area, the sort with lots of small towns, not remote. Plenty of people around who aren’t white, they are well integrated, a normal part of society, wearing western dress and their colour is irrelevant.
I recently had to go to Manchester and it was really quite shocking - not the number of people with different skin colours but the number of women in veils (largely accompanied by men in jeans & tshirts) in the train station I could hear more people speaking languages other than English. I dislike seeing women in veils - I’m sure someone will tell me it’s their choice but imo it’s horribly oppressive, and my heart breaks when I see their daughters and think about their futures. Just walking around in the town I really started to get a feel of why some people are anti-immigration, it felt so different, I could imagine why if you’ve seen your home area change around you to the point that you feel a minority you wouldn’t like it. I particularly didn’t like the way some of the men (bearded and not talking speaking English) dominated the pavements, large loud groups who freely looked women up and down and women had to walk around them. It was really intimidating and I would have been quite frightened if it had been dark. I’m sure someone will be on to extol the virtues of Manchester but my brief experience really shocked me, in terms of how large numbers of immigrants are not integrated and haven’t come here because they want to become part of British society but want to come here and maintain the values / attitudes of wherever they come from. And those attitudes are strikingly different from our cultural norms. It’s not about skin colour or race it’s about life style, attitudes and religious choices

Is that you Jess Philips?
The UK has its own problem with male violence but traditionally those cases made the headlines - Holly & Jessica, Millie Dowling, Rachel Nickell. The perpetrators were demonised and justice has always been attempted to be served.
The U.K. has been importing (how else do we describe literally allowing unvetted men to land on our shores and then get bussed away?) men from cultures that have extremely poor attitudes to women and girls and as a result we are seeing rape and violence shoot up dramatically. Many migrants even use the defence that they didn’t know that rape was illegal here - what does that say about attitudes in their home country?
Going back to my first point - as a country we used to KNOW when crimes were committed and now they are being covered up.
In Nuneaton a 12 year old girl was raped by a newly arrived migrant and another man was accused of strangling a young girl. I don’t know if it was the same girl with two attackers. The charges (as I understand it) involved rape orally and vaginally.
When these crimes are occurring frequently, by migrants, and are covered up by authorities, it is frightening.
A lot is posted on X.
And people can stop flinging ‘far right’ around. Like ‘transphobia’ it is losing its power to silence legitimate concerns.

Have protests been forcibly shut down? Has the gov interfered with our right to protest?

Yes the protests in Canary Wharf - women and children wearing pink - have been shut down. Protests are now banned outside the hotel for 28 days.

So yes the government are interfering with the publics right to protest.

Really? Re women and children not allowed to protest.

Interesting thread. There’s a lot going on rn and little in the press.

Nestingbirds · 04/08/2025 07:16

I am afraid the same faux surprise and really? eyebrow raising were the very same posters demanding for a Labour government.

We are now in a position of having the weakest government this country has ever known. Absolutely useless and toothless combined with thousands and thousands of young men with an agenda taking full advantage of their ineptitude.

The reason people are protesting and there is unrest is due to the utter indifference and total lack of action. If we saw flights taking off, the navy moving these people out the country en masse it would go some way to helping people feel there is some control and action taking place, but it will never happen. This government simply do not have the ability to keep us safe and do the right thing, by us.

Instead the people protesting are being called names, and are being blamed for the government’s total incompetence. We can not carry on as we are. Even the most tim eared must know that.
